Spider-man's Amazing WDW Adventure: Part Three

I have broken this down into three parts. Days one through three, Days Four through six, and days seven through nine. Pictures are coming to all three segments soon.

First a quick background of who was on this trip:

Jamie (Me): a multi-WDW trip veteran who is always learning more each trip.

Wendy (my wife): a second time WDW lover who has learned much from me.

Nicholas (my son): a 17 month old with pure innocent eyes.

Robby (my nephew): a 15 year old WDW first timer who does not ride thrill rides.

Days seven through nine will cover EPCOT, Animal Kingdom/Magic Kingdom (nighttime), and Downtown Disney Marketplace.

Day Seven: EPCOT

Oh boy, how do you do all of EPCOT in a day? You don't. We had little choice though, so we cut the fat here... no Living Seas (already did SeaWorld), no Body (getting old), no Innoventions, just Living with the Land at the Land, and we had to be careful at the Countries.

We were going to get a wall picture made, but it appears only one or two people are on each tile and they are ugly, so we skipped it. I went into the park for Test Track Fast Pass and returned for a ride on Spaceship Earth.

The new AT&T area after Spaceship Earth was not there last time, but still dull. We went onto Universe of Energy. Amusing with the guest stars, but still a tad outdated.

We then went to Test Track, there is nothing better than Child Swap Combined with FastPass, especially for whoever gets to ride twice. :animwink: Unfortunately that wasn't me. Let's see, glitches on my ride. No acceleration on the hill climb and the truck dodge did not function. We literally stopped and then slowly crept around the truck finally speeding up at the end. I'm not sure if the car crashes in front of you anymore or not, but it was already smashed when we got there. Apparently all these worked when my wife rode but I don't know if other things messed up on her ride, she is not that familiar.

Next was Honey I Shrunk the Audience, and JII w/Figment. No lines on either, but at least HIStA had a full house. At times JII had no one in line. This was our first trip on ver 3. I was not very pleased. If this had been ver 2 I would have been more happy, but I think the whole Imagination Institute needs to be scrapped and a new 3D and Ride concept be introduced soon. It was bearable now, but not repeatable or rememorable.

We then went to the Land and got FastPass for Living with the Land (another favorite of mine) and ate at the Food Court. We rode and then headed to Canada to view O' Canada for the first time ever. It was nice.

The Food and Wine Festival was going on and every one in the park seemed to be here sampling all the countries. This is such an awesome concept to have many places represented. I tried Duck and Cucumbers from Russia and Sausage and Potato Cakes from Poland. We hit all the countries only skipping Norway to meet our PS at Mexico. We ate then rode El Rio del Tempo, grabbed FastPass for Norway, and got a spot for the Tapestry of Dreams at the Entrance near Germany.

The Parade is nearly as good as the former version, the Dream People are interesting, but cause the Clock Drums to make less sense, still it's a very good parade.

We then got on Norway and I forgot the drop on the ride, this was the most thrilling ride my 17 month old got to ride because of that. :D Everything was in great shape since the rehab. We finally got a spot for Illuminations. When my wife and I went in 99 the earth did not work. This time we had the best night time show of our life, it is amazing, we all loved it. We had all stayed out very late, so we went straight to bed after, knowing that PS at Animal Kingdom was comin the next morning. :)

Day Eight: Animal Kingdom and Magic Kingdom at Night

We had early PS at the Breakfastasaurus Character Breakfast Buffet for 8:10. Again we got into the parks almost an hour early. We were lead by a Archeologist/Waitress to our Restaurant. Along the way she pointed out various animals and sites to us. When we got there we were seated in one of the tent rooms. Everyone else got there food, but before I could leave to get mine, all the characters came in. First was Donald, then Goofy. Then we were told the characters would leave for a minute, so I ran to get my food, I came back just as Mickey was leaving our table. :( Next came Pluto. Just as I thought I would finally get to dig in, our Waitress came back full of surprises. She had a ketchup bottle that appeared to squirt you. She then had a bady dinosaur that squirted water at people. She eventually started squirting people on the other side and acting like nothing happened. It was so funny, the people kept looking at the ceiling and everywhere. Again, I had a wonderful character experience and will plan more for the future.

We then went to Dino-Rama. I liked the area better than I thought, but it is nothing major at all. Animal Kingdom needs much more than Dino-rama even begins to offer. Primeval Whirl is slightly fun, but not really. The spinning is nice, but the ride is short, typical, and basically a carny ride from anywhere.

Next was Dinosaur, and the first major glitch at the parks I found. The wait time for Dinosaur said 70 minutes. Everyone was leaving and one cast member was outside trying to catch people and tell them to come on in because there was really a zero wait time. Again Child Swap works well here. Obviously I had forgotten how scary Dinosaur is, I was on front row far left. oh my gosh, I must have been in seat three the time the ride was over. Very good effects.

Next, a Bug's Life. Funny and good as usual. Then on to the Rapids, nothing new here. The Zoo Trail... the tigers were up next to the glass. We then got FastPass for the Safari Ride and went on that Zoo Trail. Most Animals were hiding or far away. We rode the Safari and saw many animals out and about.

We had Rainforest PS for 2, but since we finished AK so soon we went to eat at 1 with no problem moving our space up. The steaks are very good here.

Next we hopped a bus to the Resort to rest and then to Magic Kingdom at about 5 pm. The park stayed open to 11 that night.

First on the agenda, meet the characters we had not yet. Traditional Mickey and Minnie were out front, so we all posed with them, next Chip and Dale, then Daisey. Now we went on in and got a good space for SpectroMagic.

Again, we all loved the Parade, very well done... I did notice that Roger Rabbit was missing and now Genie is in the Parade.

Afterwards, we dashed for anothe Dole Whip Float before Fantasy in the Sky. I love the music to that, and the fireworks were lovely.

Finally we got a small bite at Cosmic Rays and caught some of Sunny Eclipse before calling it a Fantastic Day and Night.

Day Nine: Downtown Disney and Home

We went to Downtown Disney and stopped by the McDonald's. Pretty neat for a McDonald's, the pay up front like Pecos bills is smart, and three drink refill areas is nice.

Next we went to Once upon a Toy store. If you are going to get a Mr. Potato Head, make it yourself. For two dollars less you can really stuff that potato and box full of everything they have. We did, and a cast member helped show us how. This store is very neat with lots of exclusive toys like WDW Candyland.

Next was Team Disney and World of Disney. A word of Advice, if you have a Disney Club Card, try to refrain from most typical gifts til you get to this store. We had already bought a lot of stuff that could have been found there and saved us a few dollars ($20 or so). Still we did find some more stuff (photo albums, frames, candy, etc...)

We finally left and stopped by Daytona for a quick ride on the beach and stop at Main Street Pier to ride the Sky Tower and Pier Sky Lift. Then on to home.:p

I already have plans for my next trip. :hammer:

BTW, We ate at a lot of high places this time, we decided well ahead of time this would be our deluxe trip to tide us over for a while. In the future we will not go so high dollar, but then again, there's California Grill, Chef Mickey's, Hoop De Doo, Coral Reef, Mythos (still), Cinderella's Castle, and many other great places we have yet to try. Hee Hee. :animwink:

Hmmm, good question. I did have a Passporter to write down a few notes from each day, but I think I would have remembered all this from memory anyway. For Example, I did not even use Park Maps on this trip. Except at SeaWorld. So I think I just remember my trips a lot because I love going so much.:D

BTW: I will start downloading my pictures to my computer tonight. :sohappy:

I think Personally...that is the best spot to watch this parade..( or to even people watch)...great choice... I was right there on the bench smoking(there is a smoking section there)... and...you can run right over to the beer counter anytime to get another tall one. I even met a nice couple from France and chatted with them a bit...so I love that area for the parades :)

Again...great trip report...Thanks for sharing! :):sohappy:

I absolutely fell in love with Once Upon a Toy when I was there just last week... I loved it so much that our final day ended with us going there to make one more Mr. Potato Head. This time it wasn't going to be the wife and a friend stuffing him full... it was all me and I know how to cram as much into a small area as possible. Only thing I left off mine was the gas mask/snorkel thing... but I managed to get in everything else into this tiny box.

And absolutely loved the F&WF... you missed some good grub over in Scandanavia. The smoked trout was delicious and the grovlax was just as good. :)
I look forward to seeing your photos... I know I'm preparing to sit down to do the same thing with all of our photos (even though I lost the first weeks worth of photos when the laptop went in the fritz with Klez... damn Klez...).

After reading about all your eating experiences, I was curious about your opinions money-wise. I'd love to experience some character meals, but the extra-money means extra waiting and planning and saving. Sure, it's worth it, I guess, but...

Well, by far Jikos is out of the question if Money is important. $130 (the highest bill for food I have ever paid, but for me the experience was awesome and worth it once and it could have been cheaper without desert and the Flat Bread).

The Character Breakfast are so worth every penny and more. Do these, especially if you can get PS before Park opening time (as long as it's not an early entry day when you go). The Character Breakfast is $17 a person and all you can eat. The food is awesome, the wait staff is great, you enter the park early, and the characters make it very Disney and special. Please do at least one. I suggest the Breakfastausaurus if you can only do one, but only cause you go deeper into the park and you get to see Mickey, Donald, and Goofy there.

The Dine with Shamu was an experience we will never forget, that makes it worth the money spent there as well.

Bomas, Sci-Fi, and Rainforest are all places you can skip, they are nice, but no big deal.

You have no idea how much I was not interested in a Character Breakfast beforehand and how much I changed afterward, it was so great and really starts the day off right. I can't wait to do more in the future.

Since The Pooh Breakfast was at Tony's for now, we got waiters with an Italian accent saying "That-a Tony is some kinda guy... no! He-a cooks up some great food-a and fast too, eh?" That was a plus as well.

I've done Sci-Fi and I love it, and I'd like to do Cindy's. I also want to take Julia to Tony's (our movie is Lady and the Tramp) but I don't think she's gonna want to go and face Pooh, she really despises the bear... But I'll sure include something.

EPCOT is watching you!

No doubt about where I am... even at the talking Water Fountain I can rest easy knowing that I am definitely at EPCOT when I glance up from nearly anywhere in the Park.
