Spending money

Hi everyone!

I'm new on this forum and just want to ask a quick question.

I'm off to DLP in July with my daughter 4 4 nights 5 days. We've been twice before but really overspent on soft toys etc - her room is a Disney shrine:ROFLOL:. I'm hoping to do this trip on a budget (:hammer:as much as possible) as I kind of booked it on the spur of the moment. How much spending money would you guys bring on average for this kind of stay? We're talking lunch dinner, snacks, a few toys / souvenirs etc.

I'd love to hear what you think.

Thanks a mil!

Welcome aboard

Difficult to budget for you as only you know what you eat, where you eat and how much. Also, what to you would be an acceptable amount of souvenirs / soft toys ????

I would offer somewhere in the region of £50 per day

Bring me with you. I will stop you from spending lots of money.

Seriously, tell your daughter she can pick out one thing at the end of the day/week/park. Stick to it.

I always say bring cash. You are more aware of the AMOUNT YOU ARE SPENDING. When it's gone it's gone.

Have so much fun.

Thanks guys! You're dead right - the cash only idea makes a lot of sense. I will definitely leave my visa at home as willpower and me do not go hand in hand  !!!

Enjoy yourselves - and the new fireworks should be showing by then too, possibly themed to Enchanted.

Money wise, we`ve always come home with spare cash - and full suitcases. Though the Euro is pretty poor at the mo I`d aim like above at £50ish a day plus a last day spending spree if you see any `must haves` - I`d suggest any ToT merch with 2008 on could be worth getting, or any DLP 15th merch ;)

I usually spend very little at WDW or DLP. We're not big shoppers so we usually only get one or two items at most (although on our last trip be spent alot of money on a painting from The Art of Disney) so it's really only money for food.

If your really worried about spending money then you need to be strict and set yourself a daily limit. If buying an item will push you over your daily limit then save up fo a couple of days - it's a great way of stopping impulsive buying and it will also help you decide if you really want something or not.

However, don't let it spoil your fun. Don't plan not to spend anything because it's not realistic. If shopping is a big part of your vacation then go with it - you're there to enjoy yourself!

Thanks a million! I'll have to tie my hands behind my back - either that or blindfold my daughter going past half the shops:ROFLOL:
