Spain... or any country for that matter?

So, the big buzz for World Showcase was the possible addition of Spain. For some time now I have heard nothing about additions or changes to World Showcase. Is Spain still being considered? If not, are there any new countries being discussed?

How about the renovations to Mexico?

Slowly, but surely, additions and refurbishments are being added around World Showcase (i.e. Reflections of China). Sometime soon, Canada will be receiving a new 360 degree show.

Mexico has already gotten new film taken, which may replace some of the current late 70s/early 80s footage in "El Rio del Tiempo."

As for Spain, I am not sure of its progress. In fact, I don't even remember seeing it in late June...*shrug.*

Initially, World Showcase was planning to have several additional countries added, including Spain, Africa, Greece, and others. Although this plan was dropped, Norway, Morocco, an outpost, and World Showplace eventually came through in the 80s and 90s.

FYI, africa isn't a country.
Yes, Disney was planning on building a "generic" African pavilion that didn't focus so much on one country as much as on the general feel of West? Africa...

Of course, with the opening of Animal Kingdom, and Harambe village, don't expect a full fledged African pavilion to ever come to WS.. The Outpost is all Epcot has that harkens back to the days when an African pavilion was being planned....

As for me, I'd love to see Greece added to the WS repertoire...

The mythology and the majestic, rugged landscape (and might I say seascape as well, referring to the Aegean and the Greek isles? :)) would make for a very good pavilion. Plus the whitewashed rustic architecture would be very bold, yet beautiful, against the delightfully exotic WS skyline! :)

I think it would be really cool if they added a country like Thailand or Cambodia or India. It would be so different from the other countries they have.

My first choice has always been Greece with a close second going to Egypt. There are so many possibilities with those two countries! Of course, I'm sure Disney has contacted tons and it all depends on which one is willing to spend the money.

It is a huge financial commitment for some countries. I always thought it would be great for Disney to use the vacant millenium village as a rotating pavillion for countries, where maybe they could commit for a period of time, and then decided if the want to have a more permanent structure.

I would personally like to see a Spanish pavilion, I think it would fit nicely in WS. England (UK) and France have a place in WS I think its Spain's turn, after all Spain has a rich history and has influenced the development of the US and the "New World" as a whole. Think of it UK, France, Italy, Germany and Spain why would anyone need to go to Europe.....

I have to agree with SirNim though...a Greek pavilion would also be a nice addition. So my vote goes to both Spain (1) and Greece (2).

But I doubt we will see a pavilion anytime soon...I think Disney will focus on FW first. Just my opinion.

Well, If Epcot ever experiences a giant plunge in visitor numbers, and are desperate for an attraction, I always thought adding an Egypt Pavilion, and putting a clone, or a new experience of Indy Adventure in there, that would work, wouldnt it?
