· Through a partnership with Siemens we are building upon Spaceship Earth’s existing attraction and taking it to the next level of innovation.
· This summer, Spaceship Earth will close for renovations to combine the classic attraction time-travel adventure into the past with a new interactive conclusion. The attraction is expected to reopen in late November.
· In late April, guests will begin to see the first phase of transformation of the Global Neighborhood into “Project Tomorrow: Inventing the World of Tomorrow.”
· “Project Tomorrow” showcases the ideas and technologies Siemens is working on to help make the world a better place for the future. The space will be filled with fun, interactive games and displays that showcase those innovative technologies.
· Three of five post show elements will open in late April showcasing “Project Tomorrow” at Spaceship Earth in an effort to continually enhance the overall guest experience.
· The interactive area at Spaceship Earth will remain open during the renovations.
· The last phase of improvements to the Spaceship Earth area will be complete by early spring 2008.
· All affected Cast Members will be deployed to other locations within Future World East.
· We appreciate you not sharing this information prior to Wednesday, April 11, 2007 at 11:30 a.m. A plan is in place to share this change more broadly at that time.

Well it's past 11:30 AM so I can share now:)

I am goijng for july 4 and that would not be right.

Why does disney insist on having all its major attractions closed all at once?

Whats the point.

I really hope he is lying. I dont thinkd isney would be stupid enough to have 2 major attractions clsoed at once especially on one of the most crowded times of the year.

I thought Companies Didnt want to be like Six Flags. I guess I was wrong.

I'm going to see if I can get any info from WDW itself. If SSE wil be closed when I'm supposed to be there I'm going to cancel my trip this year and we'll go next year instead. I can't see paying $5000 to go when two major attractions would be closed.

hmm

Well If they have 2 major people eating attractions closed at once they will be doing something that six flags gets blasted at all the time for.

There is not much to do at epcot. SSE is a major People eating attraction.

Lines will be absolutely horrid at epcot if sse is closed that week . ALll those people that will normally be on sse will now be on the other small assortment of rides and shows in epcot .

But having 2 major attractions, SSE and Haunted Mansion down at once is something that Six Flags would do.

Yes I am very upset if yo udidnt know because its still 2 major rides down at once wich will make lines even worse that week.

Alright so the new post show name is pretty....original ...I really wish they would paint the Earth Station building blue...again....because this blue and pink thing is pretty strange looking.

Otherwise I'm looking forward to the new EPCOT Centerish post show!!! :sohappy:

This IS info from "WDW itself". If you're a salaried or a leader in most major areas, you've already received the email.

Have we got any confirmed dates? I would be seriously unhappy if it happened for my trip in early May. It would be very short notice, but I seriously would consider rescheduling.

It's not a hoax..

(arh, can't post a link because the board filters the official WDW news (.com) site)

Inside the Epcot icon, remarkable changes will be taking place over the next several months. A re-imagined Spaceship Earth presented by Siemens will combine the magic of the iconic attraction's time-travel adventure into the past with a new finale which provides guests the opportunity to imagine their futures.

On a trip through time inside the Spaceship Earth attraction, guests discover how each generation of mankind has invented the future for the next generation, and how the spirit of innovation has moved people from the caves to the cosmos.

Enhancements to the time-travel attraction will encompass changes to each of the ride scenes. New show scenes will be added to the attraction's story along with new lighting effects, costumes, set decoration, narration and musical score.

This adventure through time leads ultimately to the very top of Spaceship Earth's geodesic dome, where guests arrive at the present. The time travel adventure will be enhanced through new, interactive touch screens installed aboard each "time machine" that will enable guests to create their own visions of the future and see themselves in that future.

As guests disembark the time travel experience, they are invited to visit "Project Tomorrow: Inventing the World of Tomorrow," where interactive exhibits bring to life the ideas and technologies Siemens is developing to help make the world a better place for the future.

The space is filled with fun, interactive games and displays that showcase innovative technologies. Here guests step into the world of tomorrow and glimpse the future of medicine, transportation and responsible energy management across the globe.

Opening to Epcot guests later this month, the first completed phases of Project Tomorrow will include:

* An illuminated globe measuring 20 feet in diameter that will offer an ever-changing collage of inspirational images that invite guests to imagine the wonders of tomorrow.
* Body Builder, a 3-D game that enables users to assemble a digital human body, simulating the Siemens technology developed to perform remote surgeries.
* Super Driver, a driving simulation video game that showcases motor vehicle accident and avoidance systems developed by Siemens.

With phased renovations occurring through the year, Spaceship Earth's makeover is scheduled to be fully completed in early 2008.

For goodness sakes people stop complaining that Disney is actually taking steps to finally improve and update the attractions. Its about time, two rides being down only 1 per park is not going to make or break your vacation.

Just really, there is so many more bad things in the world to &^%%$ about.

DON'T go to Disneyland  Mr. Toad, The Railroad, the Riverboat, the Haunted Mansion, and Splash Mountain could be closed at the same time as EVERY ride is given a rehab each year........

In fact, for today, 4/11/07:
Closed for Refurbishment:
Fantasmic! River Show
Mark Twain Riverboat
Professor Barnaby Owl
Splash Mountain
Tarzan's Treehouse
Tom Sawyer Island

My opinion?? GO SSE REHAB!!!! :sohappy: It sounds like it's going to be amazing, and the complete OPPOSITE of anythings Six Flags could even hope to create.....

dumb

I still think this is dumb. They couldnt have scheduled it so that it doesnt happen at the same time as another major rides rehab?

I dont care about the rehab itself but having both the Haunted Mansion and SSE down during my vacation during July 4 and it being prob the busiest week of the year really uspets me.

Yes but having the Haunted mansion and SSE clsoed at the same time I feel is a very stupid decision. They could have at least waited till october to close sse down so that the haunted mansion was open again.

I dont mind the sse renovation but I am upset that 2 major rides are down at once.

I'm on the phone with WDW now...I'll post if I find anything out. As it is, if they know SSE is going to be closed when my trip is scheduled, I'm hoping that they will admit it now so that I can cancel and go elsewhere this year. If I don't find out until I can't cancel my trip without having to pay a penalty I'm not going to be happy.
