About one spiral up from the 1970s computers scene. When you ride the ride, and get to the space/view of earth part, you can see the shadows of what I always thought were buildings straight out in front of you. That is actually the rest of the spiral up. Kind of hard to explain it.

Basically, the entire track is on a giant spiral floor like you see here. Then they placed the track and scene sets on it.

I learned something else about Spaceship Earth about a month ago. The ride was supposed to continue spiraling up an additional level. In fact, the floor is all there, but the structure could not support the additional weight of more ride track, scenes, etc.

Bit of a fallacy this one. All the blueprints dating back to January 1980 do not have anything on the upper deck. 180top as designed wasn`t capable of taking an extra layer of track on the roof of the floor below, and having room to spiral into the core. There just isn`t room nor the strength to do it.

Plus the starfield projector was originally on the top deck along with a lot of equipment.

They arn`t; they are the tops of stairwells, elevator shafts and the ceiling of the floor below. Read the Spaceship in SSE thread for an explanation of what they were originally going to be dressed as. Hint - moonbase and spaceships.
