Spaceship Earth: Then and Now

What did I miss?
-Jeremy Irons performing one of, if not the best theme park audio narration on any attraction...past or present.
-Beautiful, epic music & light tunnel as you descended back toward earth.
-On-ride commentary which didn't feel like someone talking to pre-schoolers.

I like the ending now.. how you can choose your next vacation or how your life would be depending on the options you choose... I think that is neat.. but after watching that video ... they sure took a lot of great stuff out. Why did they make such big changes?

The last one from 2003 was much better. There hasn't been any better narration for SE than that by Jeremy Irons. The backwards descent in blackness was a particularly bad idea.

I'm still aghast at why they felt they needed to change the Irons version music. It was perfect and awe-inspiringly beautiful! It didn't need to be changed! The current score is good, but not very memorable.

I agree. I go on Spaceship Earth at least a few times per day any time I'm at Disney World and I couldn't tell you what the current score is, to be honest.

Funny. That's just what was said in 1994...

They need to spend the cash on doing actual show scenes of a lest outdated future during the descent. The LCD screen stuff is nonsense.

I do agree with you - it seems a little "Jetsons" to me. The first time I rode it was in 2009, so I never saw the older versions either.

That tribute video is one of the best Disney videos I've ever seen. LOVE IT. Thanks so much for bringing it to my attention.

Great video, very interesting. Though I feel we always like to reminisce in the past I think change is good, at least they are trying to keep the ride updated. I'm still not happy with the speakers warning you your vehicle is turning around and the lcd displays showing your vehicle is turning (guess the lawyers had their way with this one and guest relations was tired of hearing complaints).
