The next thing we will hear is either about the opening delay which is currently rumored for December or the AP exclusive ride announcement. Take your pick.

Yeah..I really don't see them doing any soft opens. I'm excited to see if there is much of a line after it opens. I know that we will see a line at first, but this ride eats up riders so well. I just invision post in the near future of riders who say it was slow and that they rode it 5 times back to back. Or the.....I shot the entire ride with flash on, but don't worry I was the only one on the thing.
For some reason I'm just scared SSE has lost it's appeal to the non-EPCOT CENTER purists.

No, Epcot-purists all know its closed. Everytime i walk by it, the SSE CM outfront is explaining to other people that its closed. The non-geeks. People have an interest in it.

Also, how could it not end up on the park map?

And the final bit - Project Tommorow stays pretty busy for a place with just 2 video games considering the ride is closed.

So how would that work as long as you have an annual pass you get to ride? Or they only allow so many? Is an AP allowed to bring a guest? Thanks:wave:

He's referring to the fact that either the opening of the ride will be delayed and we'll hear about that soon.

-OR-

We'll see an announcement for an AP priority access or special preview like they did for Haunted Mansion. When something like this happens it is usually for passholders only and simply allows you to ride the ride using your AP in the same way you would use a fastpass.

What's the tentative opening date? I am so bummed that we are leaving on November 12th. I am excited to see it, but I have alot of things on my to do list to keep me occupied.

Oh okay..so everyone gets to ride its just that someone with an AP don't have to stand in line for 2 hours and the rest do...do I got this right now

The listed opening date is just about a month away. If, IF, it's going to miss it's opening date as seems to be the prevailing thinking, I would think they would make some sort of announcement (more likely they would just quietly change the date(s) on the calendar) within the next few weeks. If we have not heard something by November 1, I think we have to assume that everything is proceeding as scheduled. As far as the AP previews, as I understand them, they are for AP holders only and are not all day things (like 10:00-12:00 as I recall). Let me also reming you that during the recent RnRc refurb there was all kinds of hearsay regarding delays, retheming, new music...right up until the day it was scheduled to open...when it opened on time. So until we know for sure, take all the speculation with a couple of dozen grains of salt.

Has it happened before when an attraction has been delayed for opening beyond the expected date of the refurb?

I must have been living under a rock..lol...what happened with test track?
18 month delay in opening due to technical and software issues. The worst possible timing with Horizons closed and Energy under rehab. So bad Horizons was taken out of mothballs (so much for the sinkhole theory!)

Also responsible for GM pulling sponsorship on Rocket Rods since it used a very similar ride system. And we know what happend to RR....

Wow....I never got to go to WDW till 2004 and have been hooked on it ever since. So if it happened after 2004 I probably knew about it anything before that is all new news to me so thanks!

Even in as bad of shape as its been, SSE still puts through more riders in a day than any other attraction in Epcot. I don't think its losing its appeal. Sure some people only want thrills, but there's still a ton of people who absolutely love this ride.

Hi there! I just found this site and love it already!

May I ask...are they just refurbing this ride, or making it completely new and different?

^ so far as we know, the ascent will be mostly familiar, with some minor changes / upgrades / new lighting and infrastructure. There will be at least 2 new show scenes near the top (invention of the computer and mainframe) and possibly a return to a more dramatic 180top (the planetarium section)

The descent is more of an unknown; as of a month ago it hadn`t been changed but we expect it will be. Also expect new audio, narration, and better quality/more reliable audio too. Each car will also have a pair of touchscreens - something to do with the descent and/or Project Tomorrow.

I was just there Monday, the 15th and was going to try and get some shots over the wall, unfortunatly, the wall is a bit too tall, even more my 6'3" height, and probably wouldn't have revealed anything other than some pictures of scaffolding and tools I've seen on here.

I take it you have a mouse that wispers info to you? Or were you able to get a peek inside SE on your recent visit? I so wanted to know what exactly was going on inside the big ball.

WDI have lock down on the facility right now, so it`ll have to be a whispering mouse ;)

As for the inside.... gaps, holes, and most of central Floridas scaffholding. As for pics, there are a few gaps that havn`t been plugged here and there. As another forum member will agree, the wall below the camrea center sign can be just the right height...

I also heard unofficially a Christmas opening may be optimistic. But never say never.
