is it not known the ball is to be mapped to heck and back?
... thought it was - nevermind me, then
I like to think of myself as keeping up with these threads and rumors very closely but I haven't heard that one. I mean, it's a very plausible rumor though -- every other WDW park's main landmark is mapped: Cinderella's Castle, Chinese Theater, Tree of Life... makes sense.

Why would they reveal everything they have planned at a media preview ?

Either:

1. They have to much to announce at that actual parks panel they decided to announce the smaller details for previously announced additions. (Names of lands (Marvel DCA, DLP) and attractions, small additions (Journey of water) to announced plans or updates (Tron, SWR) to plans)

2. Want to generate online buzz for D23 with said information and make the media feel special.

3. Combination of both.

Any updates as to when this work will begin? I checked @MisterPenguin's rumor tracker and it still says late 2019/early 2020 for an estimated closure. Wondering if Feb 2020 will be too late to get one last trip through time.
Last thing from Martin was this same time frame. People would ask if it'd be open December and he says maybe, people ask if it'd be open January and he says maybe... So... Maybe you'll be good in Feb? 😅

Obviously the art probably still isn't final but here's an angle of the modified SSE post ride area (soon to be pre ride?):
