There is a door at the top of SE with the earth painted over it. Perhaps the crator you're seeing is just the outline of the door?

Everytime that I go on SE, there is never any air circulation or A/C at the top of the sphere... Damn shame too.. the heat always wakes me up.

Yeah it's like an ice box....the way it should be. :D

Heat wakes you up? :veryconfu

That's really odd...heat puts most people to sleep or at least makes them drowsy.

Maby you're just and odd ball. :p ;) j/k

I don't think she was talking about a crater on the Earth...I think she meant that they tried to recreate it like YOU are ON the moon looking at the earth...and there is a crater in front of you.

Am I right DisneyDudette?

I know what Disneydudette is talking about and for all that i know that is what they probobly where going for. Re-creating the moon scenery. I've noticed that the last few times I've been there

Maybe but that can't be....there's just black space with the earth smack dab in the middle. And you go back in time on SE not to the moon. ;)

I think what everyone is talking about is the wall in front of the projector. The wall is curved and is light in color and you can kind of see it. They may have painted it like the moon but I think for the most part that you are not supposed to see it. It's just a wall with the speakers built into it.

yeah you do, but after you get off the 'moon' they take you into the 'future'....plus, going to the moon is a part of the history of technology, so...

Ahem...

Originally, the image projected in Spaceship Earth was "Earth Rise" - the image of Earth comming over the horizon of the moon. You also had astronauts and a spaceship and a satellite. Look at the mural at the front of the ride for an idea.

You "popped out" on the moon from a space station, all of which has been painted black and hidden in the dark.

Together, they formed the perfect "Earth Rise" over the moonscape with friendly astronauts overhead.

I could have SWORN that at one time there were astronauts and a spacestation in that area but I thought it was mistaken. Thanks Rob for making me feel better about my sanity! LOL;)

last i knew the space station scene was still there and just painted black, you could still see the outline of people and a "i-beam"type structure in the shadows.

Yes, I've noticed the "crater" in front of you as you're looking up towards the Earth. Another question is -- has anyone found the hidden mickey during this scene in SE?
