The WDW explorer is a CDROM which has various information about everything in WDW as of the time AK first was opening. Now adays, it's quite dated, but interesting nonetheless.

It is no longer being made,a dn only available for purchase from a Virgin Megastore or from Ebay.

I worked in a software store at the time the CD came out and I think we sold 2 copies ever of the software. I never tried it out myself, but it looked interesting.

Going back to the topic of this thread...
Are there still things (benches, electricity boxes, etc) that you can stand on to see over the wall? I remember last time standing on what looked like a cable box (but then I wondered why a cable box would be in Disney, oh well) that was right against the wall and gave me a great view.

With the wall pushed back and the path revealed, it's actually harder to see in. Before you could stand on a hill and see right over the wall, now if you stand on those same hills, the wall totally blocks the view.

There's nothing up against the wall like there used to be.

Oh yeah, the boxes are mostly for electrical and phone service connections. Carts for food and drink plug into them, and if it was a larger kart (like the one that sued to sell dinos outside UoE) they would connect to the phone system through them.

Oh ok thanks, so theres pretty much no way to see over now? That sucks, guess we just have to wait until the wall is gone completely to see.

The Space Pavillion was originally Walt's idea--they just didn't have the technology to build it, so we got Mission to Mars--the attraction we will see was something Walt originally envisioned. By the way, while it is now very hard to see into the project area, there are holes in the wall. I took pictures from them...as soon as I get some money (I get paid Thursday), I'll develop them and post.

Actually, the horizons concept was supposed to be housed in the Spaceship Earth Geosphere as the central attraction, but its funding and concept were not ready on time. So, At&T got the main pavilion and Horizons had a new building and ride mechanism designed.

Is any of that sort of stuff (blueprints, prelim paintings) online anywhere?

Durhay, To answer your question I did find a sight that sell copies of blueprints from famous places and there are some Disney blueprints available. As for the one I have, I got it by being in the right place at the right time. I worked for Kraft in the early 90s and since Kraft was the original start-up sponsor for the land pavilion they were involved in the design for it from the ground up. So to that point they were given blueprints of the layout of what was proposed for EPCOT. To make a long story short, Kraft was tossing out the files on EPCOT and I was the one chosen to do the tossing. I found it and brought it home to add to my collection of Disney stuff.

Currently, on eBay you can bid on almost every single original Future World pavillion's blueprints.
