Space Shuttle Launch

Actually, there was a nasty storm that blew through WDW yesterday around 5:30 PM. We were at the Wilderness Lodge for dinner, and there was a very large lightening strike right outside the building that literally sent people running inside the building screaming. When we were leaving after dinner, there were several Ready Creek engineering trucks parked just outside the gate, with workers going back and forth into the woods. I don't know if this is the same storm that struck the space center, but it wouldn't surprise me.

Shuttle launch has been cancelled for this week. They are rolling it in today because of the possibility that Ernesto is going to be in the area later this week.
The lightning struck the launch pad the other day and may have damaged the system on the shuttle that jetisons the fuel tanks off the shuttle during the flight. It would have been very dangerous to launch.
BTW this is my first post-have been lurking for quite a while-actually forgot I could post now. We live over on the space coast and have a UCF( You Can't Finish) student who is a Disney CM. We have been going to Disney since the MK was first built, but I have learned so much from this site.

The shuttle is scheduled, as of now, to be rolled back to the VAB Tuesday morning between 8 and 9am ET. Preperations are currently underway to make this happen, however, if the forecast for the storm changes, they can reverse their decision. If they do roll it back, they will need a minimum of 8 days to prepare for another launch attempt once the shuttle is brought back out to the pad.

It seems that NASA is now starting to roll the shuttle back to the launch pad. It was already enroute to the VAB, looks like Atlantis is just going to ride this storm out.
