Endeavour is scheduled to fly over Orlando International Airport and Disney World sometime between 8 and 9am this morning. Hope some people can get some great shots of the shuttle as it flies over.

She should be landing at Ellington Field not too far from me in a bit. I'm so excited! Gonna go get video & pics if I can time it right!

We were pulling out of the driveway to head to work when I noticed a plane flying particularly low - and was amazed to see it was Endeavour. We couldn't have planned it better if we had tried. It was an awesome sight to see!

The boys and I totally made it out to Ellington Field in Houston to see the Endeavor land! It. Was. Incredible!!!! We took video of one of two low-n-slow fly-bys over the field and pics of the other fly-by & the landing. We were right on the fence by the end of the runway. It was EPIC! Uploading video & pics now. What a day!

I would need a new pair of boxers if I saw something that massive do a low altitude fly over

The NASA 747+Endeavor flew around in circles all over the area in the southeast of Houston at very low altitudes for a good 45 minutes before it landed. Several super-low passes over Johnson Space Center. It was incredible to watch that big girl banking and turning...it was a helluva show!

We had the NASA channel on for it due do full coverage. That SAC is an amazing machine and I wonder how it will be repurposed once over.

Okay. We got out to Ellington Field in Houston at about 9:45-9:50 or so. Something like that. Called the hubby & he said he was outside watching the low fly-overs as we were speaking. We knew we'd gotten there just in time. There was a LOT of people out at the airport with cameras & binoculars. This is a very big deal to Houston!

The first low-n-slow pass over the air field I video'd but it's still uploading to YouTube right now. The 747 shuttle carrier+Endeavor circled low over the area for quite some time. Here's some pics from our vantage point.

The second low-n-slow pass over the field I took pics. Here she is on approach:

Not done cruising the area yet:

She cruised around for a good 20-30 more minutes. Everyone waited anxiously. It was so exciting! As she made her final approach we knew this was it when we spotted the gear down.

So beautiful!

And now she's here. Immediately after the landing there was a pair of F-16 fighters that took off together. That was really cool to watch.

A highlight for the day was the people there with us. We chit-chatted with a really sweet older couple right next to us. The Mrs. was telling me that they'd driven all the way from Cypress (northwest side of Houston) because it was important that her Mr. see this event. He had just retired from NASA last year after 50 years with them. My mind quickly did the math and I looked at the quiet gentleman with wide eyes and said, "50 years??? That means...you...that's all the way back...." He smiled and said, "Yep. From Mercury on up." I was floored! He went on to say he was an engineer. The oldest son, Chandler, was excited, too. He asked, "Did you know Gordo Cooper?!?!" Nooooo, but he rattled off a whole list of names that we did recognize...including John Young. Could not believe it! So before we left I made sure to get a picture of my boys with this amazing couple. Pictured from left to right are: Chandler, Meredith Rogers, Bill Rogers, and Brian. Amazing. Completely amazing.

If for some reason Mr. & Mrs. Rogers see this, thank you for your kindness...and for 50 years with our space program. God Bless you.

Here's the video of the first fly-over. We sound like complete idiots starting with Chandler all excited saying "Double Rainbow all the WAY!" Love it! LOL! Also, pardon my crappy video to start out. It's a new camera and I'm still figuring it out. It starts out very blurry because I was zoomed in but hang in there because I zoom it out. The best part is in great form!

It was so interesting to see a shuttle from this perspective. I've seen so many launch...never seen one going for the piggy-back ride.

We asked Mr. Rogers what the REAL reason for Houston/Johnson Space Center not getting one of the retired orbiters. His answer: politics. It was 100% politics. Nice, huh?

That is just soooo awesome. We left FL Monday and I was psyched that we'd get to see it leave. I was so disappointed that it was postponed.
