Just remember... FEDEX is not the original sponsor of Space Mountain... the original sponsor was RCA until 1995. no big loss in my opinion... SM will pick up a new sponsor.. as will SE

Maybe FedEx didn't want to pony up any money for a refurb or rebuild. My guess is that they are going to look for a sponsor that is willing to put up the money to make SM what it really should be. :)

Maybe because too many FedEx employees were worried about sticking their arms up :) (sorry Fievel...had to jab ya with the "newbie" question from before) jk :)

Space Mountain will be fine. It's such a staple of the Magic Kingdom, there's no way it would be removed. the only possible thing i see happening would be a renovation like the one rumored for Space Mountain in Disneyland. From what I've read , it looks like they will replace the track with an identical track, just more modern.

But Space Mountain at WDW will be intact. I don't see that ride being removed any time in the next few years.

I agree... SM is too popular of a ride, even though its popularity has gone down in the last few years, mainly due to RnRC. But, Disney knows that it is a favorite of many, and I would like to see a new sponsor come in who is willing to stick the money into it to completely gut the building and redo the ENTIRE ride... maybe even some outside work to make it more 'futuristic' such at the DL version... One thing I know for sure... I'm glad that they will finally get rid of that STUPID POSTRIDE 'tour' (for lack of a better word) that they force you to go through after the ride. The only way I see that sticking around is if another company, like UPS, comes in and takes sponsorship... Even if this happens, at least Disney will have to paint the boxes brown! LOL :p

here is my .02

Its cheaper to build a new Mountain (doubtfull that will hapen anytime soon) then to close it, gut it, and build a new tract inside.
It wounld be another TT all over again. So why is this proposed for DL?? cause they just dont have the room we have, both in the MK, or in other parks. Plus the 50th is coming. So for DL to have a RnR Coaster type ride, it eather goes into DCA, witch they sorta have now, and are rumored to be getting, OR redue Space Mountain. Plus they have 4 mouintains so they take hit like closing one for 2 years.

BUT here its difference, if you close Space, and your down to just 2 MTNs, plus you could build a 4th mountain for, I bet, cheaper then redueing Space. Then you end up with a better ride, plus you keep the Space junkies happy AND you dont ________ off 2 years worth of guests.

IMHO, it makes sence for DL, but sounds crazy for MK.

i agree with the post show comment, its lacking in entertainment value. Its clearly a cheap redue of the prevouis version, with Fedex put in there as an afterthought.

They will find a new sponser,Disneylands Space Mountain is getting a "stitch" theme for the 50th anniversary .It the idea works there maybe it will do some good at WDW as well.

Well we are supposadly getting Stitch in Alien Encounter. So I don't think we would see it in Space Mountain (i hope stitch does't end up in either place...but that is another discussion).

Well maybe I should not have said they put stitch in space mountain ,but adding him to tomorrowland besides fresh paint. But if disney does not do something about prices and patrons, the will lose more then what they think.
