Did a double take, looking at this pictures from the demolition clean up, there appears to be no previous pipes: http://www.wdwmagic.com/Attractions...nd-Skyway-station-demolition-photo-update.htm

These are pics from the demo phase. There are other pics after this which show a large ammount of pipes that were uncovered during the next phase of construction but before the circle appeared. Those are still buried in the pics above but they are there. At this point they seem to have disappeared again. So, bottom line, I have no idea if it's a fountain. But I understand why everyone is confused about what is going on there.:veryconfu

The real question is, Why no concept art?

Another point is that a planter would also need a water line running to it for irrigation. So we may not know until we see whether it gets filled in with dirt or if plumbing and other fountain-like stuff starts appearing.

An early determination might be whether *drain* lines appear, too. A fountain would require a drain, a planter wouldn't.

One other thing not mentioned from that night photo is new wooden forms for another low wall have appeared behind the ring, matching the style of the rest of the walls within the former "quiet area" behind the skyway building.

I seem to recall a picture with pipes where the waterfall was.
I think you meant this photo I took awhile back...

Yes, but there is another photo I saw shortly after this one where a whole bunch of pipes appear after they are dug up. They could also have been electrical conduit from the old skyway system. I would imagine it used a lot of power and would have had back up circuits for safety reasons. I'm betting on a fountain personally.

3 Copper pipes in the photo above.

Also, didn't they leave the old pipes?

There are no copper pipes exposed in any of the photos. Those are surveying stakes, used to set elevation and for pulling radii. If there is to be water in this structure, they have not yet exposed the source of that water.

Thanks for the pic.

While it doesn't seem to display any plumbing, I wouldn't think of a planter at first. Always more possibilities... :lookaroun

Also, what would that white pole near the structure be?

The white pole is a sewer/drain pipe. However, based on its location, it does not appear to have anything to do with this fountain. They way it sticks up, I predict it's just a clean-out for the old pipe shown in EpcotPluto's pic below. It will be cut down to grade and capped with a metal manhole cover. They're required every so many feet along a sewer pipe so you can roto-rooter it out.

Yeah, that's an existing sewer line (looks more like sanitary sewer than storm). The clean-out I mentioned above was probably added to this line where it ends.

They could be survey stakes, more likely used for the footer than the wall. The wall forms appear to have been constructed offsite. If so, they probably would have done a test set up, so no extensive survey work would have been required onsite.

As for the water source (and waste) that small trench could hold the answer. Why rough in the water and waste piping, and the electrical conduit when all that structure work needs to be done. Just cut and cap, leave it in the trench.

That apparent clean out is off to the left in EpcotPluto's pic, and not in line with the 4" PVC next to the trench. Clean outs are also required whenever a turn is made in a waste line. (in my neck of the woods)

I think it will be a water feature.:)

I too think, that it will be a "Quiet Area"...For the people who axed the budget to sit in shame and bask in the glow of Lime Green painted over everything, perhaps....

Disney's newest secret.....after bombing the moon, Disney was able to access the water and is now having Moonbase DVC.....so it's the foundation for a Moon DVC booth.

Does anyone "in the know" know what the chances of the re-opening being on time are? We are considering taking a weekend trip using the AP rate it would only be $156 for Friday and Saturday night. However if it isnt open on the 22nd it would be a huge dissapoint. Anyone have any info?
