Space Mountain Thrill Factor?

The thrill factor on Space Mtn. is superseded by the roughness factor. I used to enjoy it, but now I just feel like I'm being tossed around. Has it gotten rougher over the years? It feels that way.

I love SM and I always try to get the last seat in the second car. It's kind of like going one round with a heavyweight boxer

Glad to hear you enjoyed the current version. Now it's time to bring on the refurb. Maybe they can get the team that refurbed SSE to hang up some black curtains everywhere to make it darker. :lookaroun

Does anyone else enjoy the roughness of SM?
Only if by "enjoy" you mean "hate with an extreme passion to the point where I wish it would fall into a sinkhole"....then, yeah.

And it's delayed again
Oh, yeah? Hadn't heard that. I heard it was still on track for this summer. Please elaborate.

If you'd put an "&" in there it would have been a funny faux pas.

I don't like getting jostled around like that. Smooth gives you a sensation of flight. Why so much turbulence in space? It's not like there's wind!

You would know better than I. I read it either here or the Sentinal about a month ago that it was being pushed to 09'. I thought it said that managment were getting cold feet about the $$ and were delaying the project yet again. I only go by what I read.

So is the project a gut and new layout or repair and reopen? I have heard so many rumors from removing some of the roof panels for easier access for track replacement to just dust, clean and update pre and post shows with time frames of 4 months to 1 1/2 years.

Forced myself to ride SM recently for the first time in many years to see if it was holding up. I have to say it is absolutely in need of a major refurb. Very rough. I enjoy EE, RnRc and PW but SM has become a joke after 30 something years without a change.:brick:

After riding Space Mountain for the first time, it quickly became one of my favorite rides in MK. So on the last full day of my trip (Wednesday), I rode Space Mountain 7 times. Unfortunately, after the fifth time my neck started hurting pretty badly (I rode it two more times because I thought it would help).

I feel better now, but I finally understand what everyone's been saying about SM. Some parts of the ride are too jerky and rough. As fast as I fell in love with it, I'm on board with everyone who wants a refurb for SM. If the effects were updated and the track was made a lot smoother, then SM would really be a wonderful ride experience.

Of course, now I really want to experience Disneyland's SM: smoother track and updated effects!
