Space Mountain roof recoating now underway?

I wonder if they are considering adding lighting effects while they are up there? The new summertime lighting programs seem to be effective and provide a lot of bang for the buck. I think that is why we see it as a theme at HW. And it would be nice to see the parks continue adding these type programs. I have always thought the new lighting that was installed on the people mover was installed with something bigger in mind in the future.

WDW has a bright future so to speak.

And the FLE should also be amazing at night too.

Any young person considering creative design work should consider lighting as a specialty. It really has unlimited potential.

Any word on if they're going to keep the "white/off-white" "original" scheme? Or the "all-white" scheme that most of us were used to a few years back?

While they're up there, could they throw in a new LED lighting package as well?

This recoat/possible repainting makes sense; the MK has been undergoing an extensive repaint and touch up to most of its show buildings so its logical that SM would get some attention.

I think with a roof like that would update tomorrowland and with some more of the facades updated it could look really futuristic. lee/raven do you guys know of any ideas of doing anything to tomorrowland?

although, I prefer the classic-themed SM.

Nope.
It gets talked about and pitched in meetings every couple years....but nothing gets done. Nothing in the pipeline that I know of.

Same here. I'd prefer the simple lines of the WDW SM with a state of the art lighting package over the heavily ornamented and somewhat gaudy looking DLP version.

I agree.. I think I prefer the clean lines of the classic SM. Like DLs for example -

And these lighting patterns are always fun during the Halloween Ghost Galaxy overlay:

That's the problem. Overlay.
No excuse for not having cool lighting effects year-round.
But, yeah...if I can't have the full Paris treatment, I'll settle for a nice (permanent) light package.

Add me to the classic list...but Paris is pretty neat looking...
Exactly, it is very good-looking, but it certainly doesn't fit in with the classic vintage theme of the future that Tomorrowland at MK and DL has; SM in Paris has a more contemporary, modern style that (while I do enjoy it) wouldn't fit IMO
