space mountain problems

The track layout will remain pretty much the same as before.
However, modern coaster technology will allow them to use fewer supports, bank the turns more, and increase the speed.
There will also be all new special effects, a new queue and station, and new rockets with (working) onboard sound.

No loops.
No corkscrews.

The building is too small to put in a lift that would be high enough to get a train through a loop. The only way to do it would be to rip out Honey I Shrunk the Audience and put in a launch. Naturally they weren't willing to do that. Far too costly.

WDW's however, the mind boggles at what they could do with all that room.

I'm glad the ride was functioning properly when I was there from Aug 21-26. ALthough, we were forced to leave M:S. Tilted back ready to launch and then we were asked to step out and waited for five minutes.

Space Mountain is one of if not the only coaster I've seen that has an escape/unload catwalk running adjacent to (what seems like) the majority of the track length. I never fully understood why this is. Most coasters only have walks running along the lift portion of the track - and that's it. With modern coaster technology, won't they be able to do away with this - thus creating a little bit more room in there?

Also, it appears that the load/lift areas take up a heck of a lot of room in there - is there no place in the adjacent area where a seperate load/unload station could be built? Even if it's behind the building, the queue area could still pass through it.

I was on a Space when there was a back-up, so that was cool. I was on the last breaks thought... that sucked... only got pushed 20 feet to the off-loading platform...
