Space Mountain: Now With Single Rider Line!

The cast memebers make you all ride together. It's a very awkward situation to be in.

I’m pretty sure they don’t have the power to do that. So what would they tell you to get in this car or get out of line? I imagine they would just stick the next single rider behind you into that vehicle and let you wait for the next one.

One out of the two times I did as well. The other I had a group of teenagers who were standing up, rocking the gondola determined to send us flying off into the water below. I just hate forced convo and try to avoid small talk at all costs. And yet I do it all the time anyway and my wife says I’m good at it. I’m the guy in the car complaining we have to go to another party or gathering and then somehow transform into a social butterfly when we get there.
I'm similarly great in social situations, but try to avoid them at all costs. I'm very social at Disneyland though. For me though Disneyland is a mini vacation, for you it's somewhere you can visit casually for a couple hours at a time.

Hahah come to think of it, I think I am too. I’m a lot more social at Disneyland than other public places. But when it comes to the fun Wheel , I would definitely rather not be staring at strangers for 15 minutes. Too much commitment. In line or anywhere else, it’s my choice to interact and I can bail at any moment.

The first time it happened I said I'd wait for the next car. The cast member said no they need to let you in. So I got in.
I could have insisted on waiting for the next car but that just makes things more difficult for the cast member.

You re too nice. I think it’s completley understandable for you to want to ride the next vehicle in that situation. I’ve only rode single rider once and that was on Splash Mountain. I’d imagine it’s not too much work for the CM to have you wait and let the single rider behind you go ahead. At least it doesn’t sound like more work than me asking to ride front row on Space Mountain or Screamin all the time. Or better yet- middle section, front row on Soarin. To be fair, I only ride Soarin like 2-3 times a year tops. I’ve never been turned down once on any ride for any request.

I think I've only shared a gondola once, and it was a fun ride. It was my first ride ever, we were going to ride a swinging gondola. I was in a group of three and there was another group of three in line behind us. None of us had ridden it yet and one of the girls in the other group was freaking out about how terrifying it looked. We were all trying to calm her down. Assuring her that it wouldn't be that bad. It's just a small drop and then a little bit of swinging. It would be really fun and just slightly thrilling. We all ended up in the same gondola and the five of us who were trying to calm her down were all screaming "you were right you were right this is so much worse than we thought it would be." I've never ridden a swinging gondola again.

If I wait in line or have a fast pass I'll make a request. If I'm in single rider I won't say anything.

Twice I've been in RSR single rider and had the car I was put in object to me being put in their car. It's super awkward. The cast member comes over and tells them they either have to let the single rider (me) in or get out of the car but the car won't move until one of those two thing happens. Both times they've let me in the car but it makes the ride very uncomfortable.
Dude, what's wrong with people?

I had a bad experience sharing a gondola with strangers. First, I'm really quiet around strangers and forced conversation is super awkward for me. Second, I wasn't feeling good after three times in a row on CA Screamin. Hadn't been on the swinging gondolas before so had no idea what they were like. They were terrifying, and made me feel much worse. The guy in the cart with us thought it was hilarious that I was trying not to puke and I wanted to hurl him out of the cart along with the contents of my stomach.

Maybe they're afraid the single rider will get put in the front row, hold his hands up during the photo op and accidentally totally obscure the face of one of their family members and ruin their ride photo? 'Cause I only did that once. Boy, did I slink out of that photo preview area fast....
