Hm. I haven't posted here in (god, probably years), and, not to drift the thread further (although at this rate it is gonna take a mighty strong push to get it back to place), but, I think assumptions about 14 year olds are somewhat...general?
I myself am only fifteen years old, but I've learned in my time on watching the forums, as I have for a few years, that in order to be taken seriously, and not as a "kid", one must try to speak and write as an adult, or at least not as "hey look @ me,I don,t reallyuse proper grammar and stuff but its okay kthanks", so Maya, to get along, or to not start these arguments, I would suggest that you take their advice and try to use proper grammar and sentence structure. Besides, this may keep you in the habit of writing formally for school. So, there's really two positive things about it. :)
And, hey, I assure you that there are teens on this website, so you definitely are welcome. So relax, enjoy, and soak up all the wonderful disney-related (and non-related of course) information that comes your way, and pretty soon you'll be a natural. Don't take everything so personal--it's only a disney forums website. Don't feel as if you have to prove yourself.

alright, time for me hibernate for another two years. :p

I completely agree with you. Noone on a DISNEY site is nice anymore haha. Yes folks Disney the happiest place on earth.

What a mature response! You're absolutely correct.

Why the anti-correct-spelling-and-grammar attitude? If she is indeed 14, spelling and grammar are still being taught to her and are very important in the real world. Practice makes perfect, correct? Why wouldn't we encourage proper spelling and grammar in all aspects of life. Language is how we communicate with each other, and when it is improperly used, the message is muddled, and not as clear. A message with poor spelling or grammar does not make the messenger any less intelligent, but it does make the message less intelligible.

Would any piece of literature be able to be read and disseminated if it misspelled words, and did not abide by rules of grammar? Would any of us have ever got a job if we had spelling errors on our resume? Or used improper grammar during an interview?

I know it's just a forum, but why change the rules because of the place? Don't get me started on text-speak.

It would be similar if someone posted that 2+2=6 and instead of correcting them, we just assume they meant 4.

And I know bestow upon myself the awards for most pointless post of the day, and biggest thread drift. :sohappy:

"I'd like to thank wdwmagic.com...."

Actually in todays day and age proper grammar and punctuation are most assuredly becoming less and less relevant each and every day. Words that seem to be slang today will be standard in every dictionary in a few short years. Texting will eventually lead to a new and different type of communication that utilizes less words and characters than is the standard today.

Newspapers were once the ONLY way for people to learn of what was going on around them. However, they too are suffering the same fate as cave paintings and hieroglyphics. Yes, I do believe that our grandchildren will NEVER comprehend the archaic idea of a newspaper. Just as generations before us have, we too will witness the birth of new methods of communication.

No matter what one may want to believe, communication is changing and in a decade things will be much different than they are now. just like things were much different 10 years ago prior to new technologies making things irrelevant - such as newspapers.

Indeed I do agree with adjusting to the times and so long as I can easily discern what someone else is saying I could care less about spelling and proper use of periods and commas.

Without spell check I admit I am not good at spelling and to be honest I could care less about making myself an expert in spelling or in the proper use of commas. However, I can guarantee everyone that I try my best to be exceptionally skilled in the continiuation of pointless thread drifts. I hope you all agree with that part at least!
