I rode in may and seemed as usual to me.

Didnt they announce a few weeks ago refurbs for space mountain to put in brakes throughout parts of the track?

They threw off too much ambient light, I assume.
Most of the recent renovation was focused on eliminating light pollution from the load/unload areas into the track.

i understand that however i think the touch of light on the cars...so you know theirs...well cars up there would be neat. LEDs would look cleaner and be less of an eyesore than those giant 50s looking neon stripes.

If they're going to retrofit the cars for LED lighting and the subsequent control and battery systems, they may as well outfit them for onboard music...
...which they declined to do when they had the chance and went with the awful "Starry-o-phonic Sound" stopgap.

Hasn't space mountain always been like that? I thought it was designed that way. If you look at how smooth rock and roller coaster is you can see they know how to make a smooth ride when they want to.

Rockin coaster is anything but smooth. I dont understand how people say space is so bumpy(which it is) and rockin is so smooth which it is not. It's probably because it's shorter, the way the restraints are and it's "newer." Space is very bumpy, but if it's too bumpy then maybe you should stick to BTM, or IASW. And oh ya, NEVER ride a wooden coaster.

OP, I feel you about the back pain. I had a car accident about a year ago and SM hurts my back sometimes. I've learned how to brace on it. I want them to keep it classic, but smoothing it never hurt anyone. Since it went down for a major refurbishment a few years ago, I doubt unless they start having structural issues it will get replaced any time soon. It takes a long time to replace the track. IMO it's not worth it when there are methods to smooth it out. Before my accident, I used to love that bumpy feeling.

Just a thought. Do you think that a new coaster train would make a difference? I mean, granted, I don't ride roller coasters but I have the nerve to watch coaster POVs on YouTube :p But browsing through the comments, I understand sometimes, coasters get different coaster trains from a different manufacturer for the sole of purpose of making it a smoother ride. It's more so for wooden coasters like the switch from Philadelphia Tobbagan Company coaster cars to Millenium Flyer cars, for instance. The MF trains give a much smoother ride on the wooden tracks than the old and very rough PTC cars from what I've read. I mean, I'm not really sure what coaster ride vehicle manufacturer would suit best on an Arrow Dynamics track, considering the company no longer exists and I can't recall having an Arrow Dynamics coaster ever getting a new train that I'm aware of. So maybe it's not so much the track that needs to be changed, but rather the coaster train going through the track is what is causing it to be rough. That's just my two cents.
