Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy reviews

I'm not the first to mention it, but yes this does look to have borrowed a bit from Revenge of the Mummy and I think the score for this is pretty bad, but overall that doesn't bring the entire thing down. Very nice job on the overlay.

I really liked it! It was so creepy! The begining scared me, the projections were okay, the music was good. It was a nice change.

I always thought Space Mountain in WDW was the greatest ride ever...until I moved to California.

On a thread last week, I told someone that most people I talk to think SM at Disneyland is better than at WDW. He basically didn't believe me.

He thinks if you compare the two rides (minus the music and stuff) that most people would chose the one at WDW.

I disagreed. The one at WDW was painful and not very fun to me.

I am heading to Disneyland this Wednesday and Thursday specifically for multiple ride-thrus on both Haunted Mansion and Space Mountain. For the people reporting the 90-130min long lines, are those from weekday trips or weekend trips?

I know I will be going straight to SM to get a Fast Pass for later but being a WDW usual, I plan my ride visits by time of day and line estimates. So I was wondering if those reports are weekday or weekend reports. :)

Thanks!

I wouldn't expect 90-130 min waits on a weekday, you should be fine... the reports of high wait times usually come up on Friday-Saturday late afternoons. The most I would expect, maybe 60-75 mins but if you get there early it should be less. Have fun!

i hate to be rude but they forgot something they should add next time they bring it to california. In the Que line where the Comm chatter is played they should change the comm chatter to the same thing in a more garbled version like there was a virus on it specificly for ghost galaxy. not only does this add to the feeling of creepiness but it gives the feeling that the ghost is jamming the comms system and makes it seem like the ghost is actually corrupting the entire station. and something i would probably not recommend but giving as an extra tip, they should cut the safety clip short when the flight safety specialist is saying "Have a great flight", and make it look like he says "Have a great fli&^*)*&" and at that point the video cuts out into a static background with the words "Connection Lost" in red, then 30 seconds later it says "Connection Re-Established" in green on a black background then fade back to the original Space Mountain clip that plays in between the intervals the safety clip is preset to repeat, except it has short intervals of the static clip to make the connection seem highly unstable.

I loved the ideas of the "Comm chatter" that plays in your rocket before launch getting garbled and corrupted. I think that would be super creepy and start raising the tension earlier in the ride!

They just installed the speakers and digital projectors outside of the dome, so it looks like the scary exterior dome shows will be returning this year.

There are strong rumors of tech upgrades and new additions to Haunted Mansion Holiday this year too, so it should be interesting to see what they add to Ghost Galaxy.

^I know its far off but hopefully in about ten years or so they'll be able to make this ride a 3D coaster....man would that be cool

How funny you said that. I was just at Best Buy this afternoon looking at a new TV for the guest bedroom.

I got pulled into a demonstration of 3-D TV sets, and I have to say.... I don't get it.

Until they can do away with those clunky glasses and just make it 3-D without wearing extra accesories, I think 3-D TV's are going to be a very niche market for ultra tech-geeks with too much money to spend.

Same with theme park rides. I think Midway Mania is about as wild a ride as you can get while wearing those glasses, although I'm fascinated to see how it's going to work on Star Tours with the more violent cabins.

Have you been on Spidey at IOA yet? That one is over 10 years old now and is still amazing even by today's standards.
