I was there last week and it was still being worked on. I am not sure if there has been a timeline posted for this project
It's to promote fitness and help guests reach their daily step count. Why are they trying to get rid of the moving walkway?
Uh-oh... I guess they'll be posting a "Daily Fitness" surcharge to the MK entry tickets now...It's to promote fitness and help guests reach their daily step count.
Better question is why bother removing it? Just leave it off and now it's a regular walkway. Why are they trying to get rid of the moving walkway?
I actually like the queue more now that the games are gone. Feels more...spacey and less like a daycare center. I do hope they do something interesting with the massive screens with only stars on them (seen straight ahead):Side note: the screens which used to hold games now have visuals displaying different nebulas and their information.View attachment 323014

Also, the controls for the games have been removed, and the railings have been replaced with standard tube rails.
The space station projection in the queue has been updated. Now, when the "Space Race" event happens in the Play Disney app, rockets will fly out of the space station with various colors of body and trail. Users are told their rocket color and trail, and can watch their rocket race around the space station. At the end, a finish line appears. After all rockets have passed it, users are informed of their place in the race as well as their rocket "speed."
Rocket speed is established and upgraded through minigames and codes found throughout the attraction.
The space race happens every ~10 minutes, with no additional sound effects to accompany it, so there's no distractions for guests who wish to ignore it.
They were up when I was there in January so they are a few months old...Are the TV screens in load new? I probably overlooked them from my past visits....
Also, I wondered what was going around the space station, that's pretty neat.
Makes sense then. I was down in December then just went last week. So I just missed them. They were up when I was there in January so they are a few months old...
It's more nefarious than that. We all know TDO is out for the forced buck so what they are doing is have you burn more calories so you will buy more food and beverage. It's to promote fitness and help guests reach their daily step count.
I like that a whole lot better than the games.Side note: the screens which used to hold games now have visuals displaying different nebulas and their information.View attachment 323014

I recall hearing that Ops was frustrated with the walkway breaking down. People were also sitting on it, even though they specifically tell you not to do that. As such, Ops decided it was too much of a problem to keep. Why are they trying to get rid of the moving walkway?
Classic!You found the Ladder!
Better question is why bother removing it? Just leave it off and now it's a regular walkway.
RIP Mitch Hedburg ... he was good.
