Space Mountain: Rumored to be January 9, 2009 last I checked.
Earth barge: It has bee pushed back so many times I'll be surprised if it ever happens.

A rather large and extensive overhaul of Space Mountain is scheduled to begin sometime in January 2009. Length of refub is uncertain; estimates range anywhere from 12 to 24 months right now, but 18 to 24 months is probably the most likely.
The Earth Globe, which has been scheduled for the longest time and has been pushed back over a year now, was scheduled for an August refurb, but at this point, who knows. Hopefully, it will go under at some point between now and the end of year. Estimates at sometime around 4 weeks if it does get under way.
Note that this is all based on the last time I checked or saw any info about these things.

Spot on, The above post is 100% correct.
My buddy is on Orlando fire dept. His wife works in "middle management" at Disney. She stated the EXACT same thing as the above post.
The S.m. refurb is going to be a big one!

I absolutely highly doubt it would be down in December. That is peak time for Disney and they need that ride to soak up some of the crowds. Plus, many people would be very upset if a favorite ride was closed during December peak.

Wow, Space mt. being down for a year! I hope I can go back a couple of times this year to ride it, because if its down all next year, I dont want to waste money going to WDW without my ride being open.

If they ride goes down for as long as "they" say it's going be down won't it be down during ALL the peak times during the year!?! We are talking a year and a half (or longer) here people!
