Souviners

So my boyfriend and I are leaving for WDW Friday AM (630 flight!!!!!!!) and we are bringing with us 700 hundred dollars in WDW gift certificates we won during a casino night this winter.

Since the money is only good in WDW, I'm wondering how to spend all that money! I'm wondering what the the best souviners to buy are...and the ones that are worth the money.

Some of the money will go toward a few extra breakfasts not on the meal plan, the photo cd of all the photopass pictures, and I was thinking about getting some scrapbooking materials to create a keepsake of the trip.

What do people think about the pin trading?

FYI I'm 20 year old teacher, and kid at heart :)

Thanks!

Hey and welcome to the boards!

I collect pins, but don't trade them as I only buy ones that I really love. I think they are great keepsakes and fun to show off if you wear them once and a while. The only thing is, once you buy one, you'll want to buy more, especially since there are thousands to choose from!

Otherwise, just look around for great keepsakes. They have really everything. If you see something you really, really must buy, buy it right away too, because I think there has been two incidents in where I saw something early in the week, and then by the last day of our trip, it was gone or all sold out.
But if you remember the item, there is always WDW Mail Order you can call, describe your item, and buy it over the phone from your home.

Also, take advantage of where they will send you whatever you buy (if its a bigger item) to your hotel (if your staying onsite).

Or if you really don't want to worry about it on the flight back, you can have them ship it to your house, and when you get back, it will be there in a few days.

Otherwise, have a great trip!

Are you kidding?! Head for an Art of Disney store or a Jewlery store (one with fine jewelry). That $700 will be gone in a heart beat.

I had that problem last year! I had over $900 in Disney gift certificates. What I did is charge everything to my room…Souvenirs, meals, and bar tabs! At the end of my vacation I paid most the bill on those and them want was over the $900.00 I paid cash. Its goes really fast at the world.

I al a pin collector(only Donald’s and Stitch) but like said above, once you buy one you will buy more.

The Art of Disney is really awesome, but you will go through $700 fast.

I wanna have this problem!!

I don't think you will have any difficulty. You are female and will be in WDW. You need no more help than that.

Downtown Disney is your best bet for unloading that money quickly. If you are having any problems doing so, call me and I am sure I could come help you with that problem. :ROFLOL:

I believe so, I have never been to a store that said no! You can even have the items delivered you your resort so you don't have to carry them all day! Its a really kool system!

LOL It seems like a complaint, but its really not. I was just really worried I couldn't spend it all and I would be stuck with it! 3 Days a WDW made me realize I wasn't gonna be stuck with it!

I know you weren't complaining-- just saying I'd like to be in that same boat!

You can charge all purchases to your room from any "Disney" gift shop. Just present your room key & tell them to charge it to your room. You will need to fill out a form to have the packages delivered to your room. Also, you will need to set up room charging privleges when you check into your resort. At that time they will give you a charging limit which varies depending on the class of the resort you are staying at. When you reach your charging limit, you can pay that off at your resort & your limit will be restored again.

Although I am not a scrapbooker, the stuff I've seen is irresistible--you can easily spend $200 on it.

Look for a Disney pin with a teacher theme. We found Minnie in front of a chalkboard with ABC 123 on it. Our teachers wear their ID on a lanyard--a pin would be really cute on it.

Souvenirs at WDW are pricey. It's been a while since I looked, but a t-shirt with embroidery (as opposed to screen print) will be close to $40. A sweatshirt will be close to $60.

Is your room paid in full? If not, you should be able to use those dollars to pay for it.
