Southwest Airlines now part of Resort Check In

Just returned from a stay at Yacht Club and learned that Southwest Airlines are now part of the Resort Check In program at most resorts. Used it and it was fantastic.

Oh, this makes me oh so happy as I think this is who we are flying with in December... I was not looking forward to having to lug by bags back to the airport since Disney has spoiled me in the past!! :ROFLOL:

Yeah, definitely a nice thing.
This was discussed in the lesser-read Air/Ground Transportation forum on here: http://forums.wdwmagic.com/showthread.php?t=566900

It's being phased in over a few weeks, and will be available to all Disney resorts except Old Key West and Carribbean Beach. Those two will go online after their resort luggage facilities are expanded/rennovated (no timetable for those rennovations was given).

It was in place in December... Maybe at a smaller scale, but I definately did it... Stayed at AllStar Sports...
I got a really good seat assignment on SW from it too..I bet it checks you in fairly early.

This is awesome news! You don't have to use Magical Express do you? I love the idea of being able to check out of the YC and have no bags. Of course that means that anything we buy at our last stop Downtown will need to be carried on. Right now I cram it all in to the bags we're checking. Need to plan better if this is the case...:ROFLOL:

Since Magical Express started, I've avoided Southwest because of the inability to check bags for the trip home.

I've been holding out booking my upcoming July trip because I generally don't travel in peak summer season and the low fares I'm used to just aren't there.

On this news, I've just booked my trip with Southwest for the first time in years.

Saved a bunch of money.......Glad they're IN!!!:sohappy:

Resort Airline Check-In is totally separate from Magical Express. The only requirement to use RAC is that you're staying at a Disney resort, and you're flying domestically on one of the RAC participating airlines.
How you get from the resort to the airport is up to you, with Magical Express as one of your options.
