Soundstage 1 Construction Update

Outside Stage 1 at the Studios right now. The iron arch that separates the soundstages have two yellow and two red flashing globe police car style lights installed on top. In addition there are small white lights on top towards the back that could be strobes. I'm certain this rules out both Ratatoullie and Finding Nemo for this area. Cars, Incredibles, or Wall E seem strong candidates based on these additions. Will have photo later. Tons of Imagineers wandering in and out from the Soundstage 1 door.
i think its the american idol experience slated to open before the xmas season this year

Nope...wrong building.

Last I heard that was the leading candidate, but the situation was a bit fluid.

Do they have like 2 or 3 fully designed concepts there deciding on? Because it seems like there just about ready to get to work on whatever's going into the building.

Personally, Monsters seems like the best choice considering they can do a thrilling "roller coaster" part of the ride based on the doorway chase and it will give disney an excuse to shorten the lifespan of MILF. Hopefully that trainwreck will be gone within 10 years.

That is definately not true. That is going to be by the Sorceror Hat. ;)

Anyways thanks for the information :sohappy: I don't really mind which pixar movie it will be because all those movies are great

WDW1974 has previously confirmed it will be a Monsters Inc. dark ride/family coaster. Others have confirmed this as well.

One thing to remember, things can change at any time... what he said could have been correct at the time, but it may have changed around again. Until the attraction opens it can be changed, and even after it opens it can change.

Though I do believe him when he says M.I.

WDW1974 also started the rumor about AK and DHS closing on some days so..................don't forget to visit the salt mine.

Although I do believe the MI rumor, which WDW1974 probably got from this site.

Does anyone have a picture of what soundstage 1 is and where it is? Im assuming its near Pixar Place, but without photos of whats there currently, I can't seem to place it.

I know that One Mans Dream and Narnia are on one side of TSM, but I can't for the life of me remember what the other side looks like! :veryconfu

Lee...

You don't think it will be a direct lift/clone of DCA's?

Easy. Already established. Not much in the $$ development and production catagory. Fit's the Pixar theme, etc. etc.

There's no way Lasseter would allow them to clone that trainwreck of an attraction. I mean, anything is an improvement on Superstar Limo... except maybe keeping it closed.

I actually liked that monster's inc dark ride. It seemed like a classic fantasy land style dark ride. The on board screens weren't necessary, and the ride didn't fit into DCA, but independent of those two things, I enjoyed it.

Based off those pics...

looks like 'block-party'-ish lights to announce when the pixar characters come out for meet n' greets. Nothing more...nothing less.

Kind of like when the characters come out around the hat at pre-determined times.
Maybe. If they're planning on doing greets on that side of the arch. The lights aren't visible from the Mania side.

Soundstages 1, 2 and 3 are/were all in a row between the Tram Tour entrance and the Narnia/One Man's Dream building.
Soundstages 2 and 3 were combined into one space for Millionaire, and then became Toy Story Mania. Soundstage 1 still exists (for the time being) between TSM and the Tram Tour.

If you look at GymLeaderPhil's pics, look at pics 53, 54 and 55. They were all pretty much taken under the "Arch", the structure that is "Pixar Place brick" on one side and "themeless for the time being steel girders" on the other. It's essentially the current southern boundary of Pixar Place. Pics 53 and 54 are looking toward Soundstage 1 and the Tram Tour, pic 55 is looking toward Midway Mania (on the left) and the still-under-construction Meet-n-Greets (on the right).

For the person who mentioned American Idol, that's going into the old ABC Theater by Echo Lake, between the central plaza and Sounds Dangerous.

As for the flashing lights, maybe they're just there to provide something visual to the people coming from the New York Street side of things that "yes, there *is* something down this street and no, you're not going the wrong way". Otherwise, it just looks like a big, open, empty area. Even if you start to come around the corner from the Tram Tour, the new bridge blocks most of your view of Pixar Place, so people might just turn around and walk away if they think they're going the wrong way.

The bridge was probably a design element added to block the visual intrusion of the Tram Tour building from Pixar Place. Plus, when they eventually start work on Soundstage 1 and possibly tear down the Tram Tour and its associated buildings, it'll be REALLY easy to wall it off from Pixar Place (and make over-the-construction-wall photos nigh impossible)
