Sounds Dangerous to be finally removed by mid-2012

While I am excited for the future possibilities, it is still another case of something being replaced with nothing. I would feel a lot better if the news was Sounds Dangerous is out and X is in.

It definetly seems there is a move to "trim the fat" at HS. First Narnia, now Sounds Dangerous - on top of permits for the BatB theatre. Hopefully, this shows management is starting to pay attention to the park and its shortcomings - and maybe this is a sign of more changes to come? We can hope....

I just hope they don't fill it up with something just as stupid.

They ought to put another Star Wars ride/attraction/show there and turn Backlot Express into a Mos Eisley Cantina.
Yes please! :sohappy:

Star Wars dead? Uh-uh! They hit Star Tours 2 out of the ballpark. One of the finest rides on property. It leaves one begging for more!

It was always closed when I was there, I know it was seasonal, but what season? I was there in the summer during peak times and it was closed, and in the spring, also closed.

We actually got to see this attraction last trip. Star Tours was down so they had this in operation. It has always been closed when we went before. That's 12 minutes of my life I'll never get back. :hammer: We only went in so that we could say that we have seen every attraction in the park.

I am a HUGE Star Wars fan, and I have been since 1977 - that being said, I'd prefer it if they came up with something else "Hollywood" to go into that space. The Disney MGM Studios circa 1992 was a LOT of fun, but it really seems like they're off track anymore (I know, that's every Disney fan's most common complaint.)
I am not an armchair Imagineer, so I have no ideas for what exactly could go there. But, I think it would be SUPER cool if there was some sort of attraction where guests could be in motion capture suits and put into different shows - similar to the old Superstar Theater, but now the guests would look like a Pixar character, or Gollum from LOTR or whatever. Then for an upcharge, you could buy a DVD of your appearance to take home and show the friends and family. This would be getting back to the "backstage Hollywood" theme that the park was supposedly founded on, IMO...

I'm thinking it could be turned over to event services and on occasion be used for general public functions like Star Wars Weekends. It works for Wonders so why not here lol

It would not surprise me in the least if that was to be its fate.

Wow. It took them long enough. I experienced SD for the first and only time in 2002, having last been in that building for the Monster Sound Show back in 1990.

I remember thinking that the attraction wasn't even good enough to rate as an A-ticket, and that even the little sound booths in the post-show were more enjoyable, as were the sensory exhibits in the Wonders of Life Pavilion.

I hope something exciting livens up that section of the park again. The live demos of production techniques that existed in the 90s were such a cool part of the park experience.

Get over yourself. Even those of us hardcore SW fans hate JarJar. Not really a fan of the newer movies. But everything else has serious merit. And many, many younger people are seeing SW and falling in love with it. My son is an example of this. I cannot watch anything Star Wars with the rest of my family because they all do not understand it. But my son has recently gotten into the SW lego sets like mad and loves The Clone Wars on Cartoon Network. I finally showed him A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi a few weeks ago and he keeps re-watching them over and over. He's 8. I think a Star Wars theme in that small area of the park would be an awesome idea.

My son is the exact same way, he's 7. My 4 & 2 year olds actually like Star Wars as well (not that I let them watch the movies or cartoons). Star Wars is going to be around for generations to come. Will Potter? Only time will tell. The cool thing about the Star Wars saga is that it is unending. I really don't see Potter having the generational reach that Star Wars does. I really think if everyone would step back and let things unfold they will realize that Harry Potter and everything else Universal churns out anymore is flavor of the month. I heard they have a Twilight dark ride in the works....LOL (kidding)

Get over it Star Wars is history they had success but that was a long time ago

According to Variety, the new Star Wars Blu-ray set has shattered sales records this year. So I guess there's still some life left in the franchise. Count me among the many fans. (Hoping Santa brings me the Blu-ray set also. :xmas:)

Converting Sounds Dangerous to a Star Wars element to work with Star Tours makes sense, but I would rather see a Star Wars themed "land" on a much grander scale. I'd like to see a large section of a park dedicated to it, where you're immersed in it - so you feel you're truly entered the Star Wars universe.

In concept DHS would be the perfect place for such a thing, but in practicality I don't know where they'd find the space. Of course, with George Lucas apparently opposed to it, it seems unlikely to ever happen.

Fun to think about, though.
