I believe the 4th of July will be the new show......they used it on NYE.

I think it is call Lights, Action, Hollywood.....or something like that. It looked like the best of the NYE shows....I was at Epcot, and I liked what I saw at MGM better.
Speck, you are right in thinking that this past NYE show at MGM looked good. It was great.

My family and I were fortunate enough to celebrate NYE at the studios, and I must say I really enjoyed the show a lot.

I personally am not a huge fan of "the hat" but it made a great center piece to the show, much as the chinese theater did to SITS. Another part I enjoyed about the show was the fact that they fired shells from off the tops of the buildings on hollywood blvd. (I don't know if this had been done at MGM prior to this, but regardless it was a great effect and made you feel like you were in the middle of/part of the show rather than just watching it.)

it would be nice if they would make a new fireworks show, and run it either before, (in the middle of two performances) or after Fantasmic!...

like MK's spectro and wishes running...

I don't get how they can bring back the true Sorcery in the Sky ever anymore.
(I know that they do...but..)

How can they bring it back, when the Theatre will be hidden by the hat??
I've never seen it, but have seen promotion stuff about it, and wasn't the main thing where Mickey is like on top of the theatre?? maybe I was dreaming...but I'm sure that was promotional for the Sorcery in the Sky...so how can they bring the true version back?

Mickey was to the right hand side of the theatres roof, in inflatable form on a specially built platform just behind the facade. It would be relatively easy to rebuild the platform, but other concerns would be like are the roofs up to spec fireproof wise? Half the park was closed during the show for fallout - this would include LMAX and other planned expansion in that area.

Our group will be at MGM for the 4th this year. I was hoping to see Sorcery in the Sky, but I guess any fireworks show will do. MK and Epcot are just too darn crowded on the 4th.

Cool! That looks like it would be an awesome fireworks show!!
Thanks!

We all did! :p

Although.... 6 hours of nothing but cuddling with Nick while waiting for IllumiNations? Priceless!

sorcery will be missed

sorcery is/was so great because disney/mgm at night is the most beautiful park. it looks so different at night. the only negative to fantazmic is that it is not out in the open of the park. is the new show going to be occasional or every night? did anybody see the sad photos of river country falling apart. i went there as a little kid, and got to go the final summer. progress stinks

There is no new show. Anything about a new show is purely rumors and speculation. The "new" show some people have mentioned here is the special 4th of July/NYE show that is basically just the finale portion of what used to be.

If you have a look at the photo at the bottom of http://www.wdwmagic.com/great_movie_ride.htm you can see some of the launch hardware and platform the old Sorcery show. I agree with comments here, the original Sorcery was a top show. The combination of low level and large scale pyro fired from behind was a great sight. Another classic show by Don Dorsey. :)

Being that the park will be closed, I'd think the best spot would be on the walkway from the Epcot resorts to the Studios.

I was at MGM for NYE, and saw Lights, Camera, Fireworks! It was a really cool, and unique fireworks show for a Disney park. Fireworks shoot off from behind Grauman's Chinese Theater, and as an added feature, they shoot some fireworks off of the buidings on Hollywood Boulevard (this is a really surprising moment in the show). The music played during the show are all songs and themes from famous movies, but not just Disney movies. Rocky (Eye of the Tiger), Star Wars, Indiana Jones, etc. My favorite part (and probably the most surprosing part of the show) is when Bohemian Rhapsody started playing. I was like, "Am I at Disney or Universal?"

Not to get off topic, but when I hear Bohemian Rhapsody, I think of Wayne's World ( ) which is a Paramount movie, not Universal. They used to (maybe still do??) have a Merth Mobile at Paramount's Kings Island.

That's exactly what I thought of when I heard it, too, lol. I wanted to start head banging. Since most of the songs were from movies, I was trying to figure out what Bohemian Rhapsody was coming from, and all I could think of was Wayne's World. I wonder if the team that put the show together was thinking the same thing.
