Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom

The worst part about Sorcerors of the Magic Kingdom is that it's lead to a bunch of creepy-looking grown men camped out inside Tortuga Tavern with binders full of hundreds of cards. Reminds me of seedy comic book stores where people collect magic and yugio cards or whatever.

That said, I did try playing the game last time I was there, standing in line behind about 5 kids at each station. I never did figure out how the game works, though. Seemed like no matter which card I held up the spell "worked" and the bad guy was beaten.
Back in December when new FantasyLand Open I was playing the game when some Spanish television crew came up and film me and ask questions about the game. Since I do not speak Spanish it took extra time for my remarks to be translated that I miss a combat phase and have to start over from the last portal. I then notice those guys with binders also but they were seated at the Sunshine Tree Terrace. What Disney never told me that there was a total of 60 cards in the main set and about 10 rare cards. I traded a rare card for a medium and a common and then play the portal. I defeat the villain and went all the way to the Hard level (Hecules Villian ?) and defeated him also. I was proud of what I accomplish that I went and brought a Sorcerors of the Magic Kingdom medal pin.

Playing on the easy level, that is pretty much how it works. Easy level is basically a grind, once you get to medium or hard that is when you need to think about what you are doing.

Exactly ... but change it to men and women with binders of cards. I found it disturbing to say the least.

I don't think there is anything wrong with having a binder for the cards. I keep mine in one, because it helps me keep track of them all (I have 1-70, plus the 2 party cards).

How does that make a person look creepy? :/

Anyway, I think the game is an ingenious way to excite the next generate of Disney park fans. Face it, we're old timers and what entertained us in the parks aren't always going to entertain the next generation and I for one can't wait to at least give this a try. If I don't like it, I got free souvenir cards out of it :p

Think what you want. I think it ruins the ambiance of the themed environment. I also stopped by and watched the one by sir mickeys when I was there the other day and was not very impressed. There was a line of about 8 people and at one point a woman in a powered scooter went right in front of the kid playing the game and the screen. I also saw 3 other people cut in front of the kid. I don't like how it is setup and I don't like the noise.

Yeah seriously. And while they're getting rid of it, how about the parades and fireworks too? I mean they really cause a lot of congestion.

And since I personally don't like storybook circus, they should get rid of that too. Surely my opinion is the only one that counts

I'm surprised they haven't put any portals in Tomorrowland, because there's a bunch of opportunity there. For villains, you could use the MCP (END OF LINE), Gantu, Scroop, Bowler Hat Guy and Doris, or the Cybugs from Wreck-It Ralph.

Easy doesn't require much skill or cognitive ability. Medium just know the list of weaknesses and strengths for each character. The hard level how ever does require both as the vulnerability of the antagonist is random every game to one of the seven types and re-using the same card on portal triggers an automatic failure. So the higher levels that are played, the more cards potentially that need to be presented at any one portal, hence the binders as most people are limited to two hands.

Creepy ? No more than the goth kids, women wearing tights as pants, corpulent scooter riders that could have just stepped out of Wall-E, swarms of Argentinian ants and guys wearing black socks with sandals.

What I find abhorrent are the bottom feeders who try to trade lesser value cards with kids for the more rare/powerful ones. My wife and I met quite a few nice folks interested in equitable trades (both adult and child) as well as have spent time explaining the game and how to interpret the cards information.

Just after Thanksgiving they moved the game servers off site to a data center in Anaheim and at least in December of this year its been causing problems such as initial key card identification delays (up to a minute) at the reader, failure to read the spell cards presented during a battle, failure to display the next portal, as well as failure to update the status of a games progress.
