Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom: Imagineering a new video game (open brainstorming)

The alternative would be to do just another rehash of Kingdom Hearts, except without Sora, Riku, Kairi, etc., and the Final Fantasy characters. Because that's pretty much what this game would be, even more so if you take away the myriad cards/characters. Also, what exactly is a Mech Warrior?

MechWarrior is a gaming franchise, that also exists in tabletop format. And there have been so many rehashes of KH, albeit less memorably crazy; Disney Magical World, Disney Heroes Battle Mode, Disney Universe, etc.

I understand that, which is why I've been struggling with how to make this game stand out from all the others, because I don't really know anything about the game beyond its basic premise of battling villains with cards. Can you go into more detail on MechWarrior?

Okay, that helps explain the process in tabletop form, but what about in video game form? I don't believe the article mentions that, only the tabletop format, which I believe is really what it should be.

I guess it's pretty difficult, if not impossible, to do "Sorcerers" as a video game without making it come across as just another rehash of Kingdom Hearts.

I’ve already suggested real world interactivity being incorporated into the game ala Pokemon Go. That could be a big draw.

I don't know much about Pokemon Go (let alone played it), but I'm guessing that the basic gist of it is that you try and find Pokemon in the real world. Is your idea that you battle Disney villains in the real world? If so, then the game shouldn't be called "Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom", because it's not in the Magic Kingdom.

Yeah, a rename would be fine. Sorcerers Beyond the Magic Kingdom?

Here's the thing, though: I know you think that it would be best for you personally to take on the villains. But it was really my intention to have you be able to play as either Mickey, Donald or Goofy in this game. Donald hasn't had a lot of games where you could play as him, and Goofy has pretty much had only one game where you could play as him: Goofy's Hysterical History Tour for Sega:

I kind of wanted to do this as a regular video game, where you could play as Mickey, Donald or Goofy. I don't know of any other way to do this, and besides the Disney parks really deserve better than just racing and wandering around a simulation of Disneyland (as in "Disneyland Adventure" for the Xbox).

Okay then; you could pick one to be your player character when wandering around the world and finding enemies.

But how can you see your player character as you walk around? I've never played Pokemon Go before, but I assume you're just looking out through your phone.

You do see your player character placed on top of a world map, with different locations flagged as Poke Stops. You only see through your phone when catching Pokémon.

I also want to retain the original concept of Merlin and Yen Sid calling on the characters to battle the villains.

I was really hoping to do something in the parks with this game, rather than having it set in the real world. I felt that the parks deserved something better than a racing game or a walkaround game (as in that Disneyland game for the Xbox).

Not sure how to solve that part. And if we DID set it in the parks, I think the non-castle parks could also be represented.
The card combat could be presented like in this game:

In other words, selected cards will promptly materialize as 3D models to do their thing against enemy machinations.
