Hope I'm not annoying anybody yet

Once we have pre paid gratuities, when else are we expected to tip? Someone told me it is added onto your drinks orders too, is that right?

How much spending money am I likely to need for an 11 night transatlantic cruise? I was thinking like £500? (that's around $850) would that be enough?

Do many adults dress up for pirate night? If so do they make a lot of effort?

Thanks again, you've all be really helpful so far :)

Of course not! :)

There are a few tips here and there that are not included. Bar tabs will have an automatic gratuity added in. You'll want a few dollars to tip the porters who take your bags. You can add a tip on to room service deliveries or give them a few dollars cash. If you are on any excursions you'll want tips for the tour operators. You'll also want tips for taxi drivers, things like that. I think that's it!

That's a harder one. It depends on what you're including in that!

Yes lots of adults dress up at least a little, and several go all out!

Hi @Tinkerbates !

Let's see, I think @Disneyfalcon covered the tipped stuff pretty well. I typically go on a 7-night cruise with an envelope with 30-40 $1 bills for porters who handle my luggage, room service, and the occasional extra tip to a bartender here or there. Bar drinks do have the tip included automatically. We typically adjust that number up to the nearest dollar. And yes! Tour guides on excursions. When the tour is great its a nice thing to do.

To budget for how much cash to bring we try to think our way thru the whole cruise to find our number. I do try to avoid using my credit cards in foreign ports when I can. So we bring the envelope of $1 bills then go day by day for the ports considering what we plan to do and thinking about the $$ we'll need. Its a lot of homework at times particularly if you plan to do things in port not thru the cruiseline. Then, of course, we bring a little extra for incidentals. We will store all our cash in the safe only taking out what we need as we need it. So far this method has worked well for us.

@Disneyfalcon nailed it on the pirate night answer. There will be adults dressed in various levels of pirate attire. Some do go all-out. Nobody judges so whatever you choose will be fine. Everyone always enjoys the fellow passengers having fun all dressed up. The people watching on pirate night truly is part of the fun. Don't be afraid to go full pirate if you want to. ;)

Notice all the bandanas - they give them out at dinner at pirate night - many people (myself included) wear only the bandana. Well, non-priate clothes plus just the bandana. I realize how that looked when I re-read it.

Honestly, you could spend no extra money on the cruise if you wanted to. If you drink, your bar tab will be a big chunk of money - however you are allowed to bring your own alcohol on a Disney Cruise, if you want to go that route (in your carry on only)

Some events have a small fee (many of the bartending ones for example) and so do spa treatmentes. Some snacks are also for an additional fee (at the movies and theater)

Since you are transatlantic, you will be sea many of the days. Barring alcohol and spa treatments, if you spend over $20 US per day at sea, I would be suprised.

Only the bandana huh? Exactly what kind of Disney cruise were you on?!? ;) haha

But you are right on the ability to spend little to no money while onboard the ship. We bring usually 3 bottles of alcohol with us (1 bottle per person) so we don't have to buy alcohol on the ship, though sometimes we will get a drink of the day. We like to do the mixology classes and I have read on the weeklong cruises they have a champagne tasting and a chocolate and liquor tasting! Sign me up! I sound like such a lush.....

I'm bringing $40 for extra tip money (tipping beyond the pre-paid gratuities) and then $250 spending money for souvenirs, drinks, tastings, etc... All our excursions I have calculated seperately so I will have a specific amount just for spending money. I always budget MORE than I think I will need just in case.

As far as Pirate night, my sister, my mom and myself, we have Goonies tee shirts with a skull and crossbones that we wear along with bandanas that the awesome @Tiggerfanatic made for us on the girls cruise last year plus they give you a bandana on the ship. Usually we tie those on our arms (no clue why the arm, just seemed like an easy place for them!) We have seen some pretty elaborate costumes though. Everyone just has a good time with it! :)

Darolyn, they do various tastings on the shorter cruises, too. Last September Christina, Jen, & I did the chocolate tasting in OhLaLa before the group mixology. It was pretty cool! I think it may have been a little more than the usual charge. One of the paired sippers was a scotch they said cost like $800 a bottle. We had enough in a glass to wet the whistle but not much more. Still, we got to try something we might not have otherwise. ((BTW, I thought the scotch was as awful as any other scotch I've ever had. LOL!))

How did I not know this?! lol I so would have been there!!! :)

I know you did the Italian drink siminar right? I was interested in trying that one! We did mixology in February and we were the only 3 in the class. The lady who did the class, her name was Alenka and she was AWESOME! She let us come behind the bar and we all made 4 drinks plus she made one and she gave us each one she made the Ashley won the last one! She then asked if we wanted to make some other stuff and what we wanted to make and pretty much let us have free range of the bar lol it was pretty cool :) The next mixology class that day had 18 people so we picked the right one!

And I'm with you on the Scotch... not a fan at all! Give me something fruity with vodka or rum any day! :)
