Song of the South Video

I can just imagine how long-winded the pre-movie speech from Leonard Maltin would be if they ever do release it on video...:hammer: I tried to get it yesterday on E-bay for like $24, but I received a notice that the seller had violated their policies, so that was a bust.

I imagine E-bay frown on illegal activities and selling pirate DVDs / Videos comes under "Illegal"

A) I figured that was the reason the purchase didn't go through, but it was worth a shot.
B) E-Bay should do a better job then of not letting people put illegal items up for auction to begin with, instead of waiting for the sale to go through, and then pulling the plug.

It would be nice if they decided to release it sometime soon. I don't know if it'll happen or not. In the meantime, the best way for Americans to see it is to find a converted copy somewhere. The best way for Disney to stop that from happening is to start selling the movie already!

Having a major attraction based on the film, knowing that SOTS is available elsewhere but just out of our reach, and the fact that "Zip-A-Dee-Do-Dah" is continually used to promote everything Disney, I think the company has done a pretty good job of teasing anybody too young to remember the last theatrical release. They've raised everybody's interest, and done nothing to satisfy it.

There is actually two "sources" of the movie for sale and online. The first being the European PAL format the other being a copy out of Japan. I currently own the Japan version. It has subtitles during the songs.

Good movie all around. There was never an OFFICIAL DVD release so any of them that you buy will either be VCD or a DVD-R

SO I am not the only teacheing my kids how to read Japanese? Kidding. We have the VHS with the japanese subtitles also. A couple years back though I got a DVD of it and I have been happy ever since. My kids were starting to think that the movie was supposed to have those subtitles at the bottom and wondered why Splash Mountain had no subtitles.
