It won't do well... but I expect it to be in the top five this weekend.

And of course it will be out on video within the year. All movies do. That's were most of the money for them comes from.

Not all movies. Example. the Fast and The Furious wasn't released on video for about 2 years after theaters. There are alot of movies that wait a while to relase to video.

It's a myth that if a movie goes to video soon after theater, it's not a good movie.

Well, Ray came out on video less than six months after it was released.

I find it interesting but I think it's going to bite them.

Think about it...

How many people buy movies without seeing them first? I do, but only the movies that I'm sure I'll like...or that I've heard reviews from people that I trust give a review similar to my tastes.

It's unfortunate that this movie looks so bad. Years ago, when they first thought of doing a sequel to The Mask, it might have been good, especially if Jim Carrey came back. Now it just looks like they're trying too hard to make this movie and going overboard because they know it won't be as good without Carrey. Also, I really like Alan and I think that he would be a great Loki, but he can't save this movie from totally "inhaling deeply" on his own.

guaranteed flop. Worst trailer and concept I have seen since the remake of Taxi!

The only thing it has going for it is a lack of HUGE competition at the box office. Even that can't save this...

Constatine is a lack of huge competition?

:sigh:

I'm probably going to go see it this Saturday anyway. It should be a fun review.

Constantine and Son of the Mask draw totally POLAR opposite crowds. Not to mention that Constantine is the ONLY big movie opening this weekend.

Whafuh?

Fast and the Furious was released theatrically in 2001. It was out on video by the end of that year.

The DVD was re-released with new bonus features in 2003, to capitalize on, and cross-market with, the then-upcoming sequel, 2Fast 2Furious. If you thought FAF wasn't on video for two years, then you've got some pretty bad video stores in your locale.

It's true that NOT ALL movies are released on video quickly after their theatrical release, but just about all of them do. One of the few rare exceptions of late was Elf, which was released on video ALMOST a year after it was in the theatres, but that was because, being a Christmas movie, the decision that it would sell more if it was released on video around the Xmas holiday shopping season. And it sold ridiculously well. It's more common for a movie to be on video within 4-5 months of it's theatrical window, and that's getting even shorter, as studios feel that a quick move from theatres to video means they can maximize the marketing dollar. They don't need to spend as much money to remind you about this movie, because it was just in the movies not too long ago. There might even be billboards still up for it in your neighborhood saying "Coming soon." Maybe you wanted to see it but didn't and now your chance to catch it on video is even sooner than you wou'dve thought, blah blah blah.

And for sequels that didn't do well opening weekend, I give you:

Neil Simon's The Odd Couple Part 2.
