Trip Report Sometimes you have to spend money to save money!

Hi! My name is Amy, and I am a Disney addict!!

Let me first provide a little backstory for those of you who haven't read my June 2016 PTR. My family of 5 is scheduled to stay at CBR in June 2016, Disney recently released a new bounce back offer of free dining with arrival dates that happen to include the day we were scheduled to arrive! The offer is only good for one week in the spring, what are the odds that our arrival would actually fall into that week!?! With 2 of my 3 kids being "adults", we will be saving a ton of money with the free dining, so I had to book a quick trip for myself so I could take advantage of this offer!!
When: Sunday, September 6 - Tuesday, September 8
Where: Pop Century
Who: Just myself this time!!
Just a warning, after this first post, this TR will be very photo heavy, as I don't really have much to say, but I did manage to take almost 600 pictures!!

Sunday
My plane didn't leave Dayton until 2:40 pm, so I had a leisurely morning to pack and spend some time with the kids before leaving for my "work trip". Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that the kids don't know about the June trip yet, so I couldn't exactly tell them I was going to WDW without them!
The flight itself was uneventful, but my seatmate was a real treat!! She got on the flight at the very last second and just flopped herself in her seat. She hit me and the lady in the aisle seat numerous times with her sea tbelt, she sang (and not well!) almost the whole 2 hours, and then she kept leaning into my seat so she could see out the window! I was never so happy to get off of a plane!!
I waited about 10 minutes for DME, and was quickly seeing this:

Unfortunately, those are raindrops on the windshield!
We stopped at AoA before finally arriving "home".

I got all checked in (I did online check in, but still had to stop at the desk because I needed to pick up my MagicBand and pay for my second night since I made the reservation 8 days prior!), and was told that I didn't get my requested 70's lake view room, but they were able to give me a lake view room in the 80's building.
A few pics on the way to the room:

So, remember that 80's lake view room I was getting? This is the view I had from my room:

Not exactly a lake view!! Oh well, it didn't really bother me, but it was loud at night!
At least I got a king room!

Love the artwork since The Little Mermaid is my favorite!

Love all your pictures, thanks for sharing! I especially like all the Lion King AoA pictures - haven't seen them in that much detail before!
Fortunately, we are able to stay at Shades of Green for our next trip (my parents are coming and Dad's retired Air Force). Can't really beat the location and hotel for the price....but I have a feeling we'll end up in a value resort next time. I know the girls (and I) would love to try AoA!:D
Good luck with your surprise and planning, and thanks again for sharing!

Thank you! We really enjoyed AoA when we stayed there last year. We were booked in a LM room, but got upgraded to Cars suites. We got a little spoiled by having two bathrooms and all the extra room! Have a great trip!!

Love the pics. CBR is our favorite. Loved seeing it again. So, Dayton. What airline did you use. We typically drive, but would consider flights.
Thanks! We always fly Southwest as they are the only ones with a nonstop to MCO. We like to go out of Dayton, as we live 15 minutes from the airport, but we sometimes end up using Columbus because the times are better.

Lunch at POP was macaroni and cheese and garlic bread.

Then it was time to head outside and sit under this sign:

One last pic before getting on the bus:

Goodbye POP:

Goodbye WDW:

I made it through security in under 15 minutes, and had a smooth flight home.

Now, I just have to wait 258 days until we go back!

Great pics of Pop! The shadow box with Trivial Pursuit and the Cabbage Patch doll pretty much sums up my childhood.:joyfull: Thank you for sharing this, and for all your trip reports!! I've never done a binder before, but I'm getting inspiration from you! I love planning and finding other ways to enjoy the trip before it gets here.:)

Thank you! Yes, I love taking a trip down memory lane with the displays in Classic Hall! I know I am weird, but I really enjoy the planning, and I just can't get into having everything digital! I think I would die without my binder!!

Thanks! I REALLY wanted to go to MK, but a one day ticket was just too expensive, so I decided to wait until I have the whole family with me! I absolutely love CBR! Hopefully, you guys will too. It does really stink that the bridge is closed, but the CM I spoke with said they were doing work so that it was easier to maneuver wheelchairs on it. Have a great trip!!

We were actually there the same day – staying in Aruba – and yes the pool bartender, Mike, told us the same thing. They said the incline of the bridge was too steep and made it difficult for wheelchairs and so forth to get over. So they're making a flatter one.

Loved all your pics. The pics of the Frozen Fireworks were great! We loved that show last summer. I rank it as second behind Wishes, which is my favorite.
Don't know that I could have resisted the parks, but it looks like you had a lovely relaxing weekend enjoying the aspects of WDW we rarely slow down enough to enjoy.
I have the same earrings that you were wearing in your selfless! I love them. I wear them whenever I need a bit of cheering up!
Glad it all worked out and now you can enjoy your planning and countdown knowing you saved a nice chunk of money!!:)
