I have something to say, and I know im going to get a lot of backlash for it but who cares.

SINCE WHEN did this website become about discussing things we hate about disney, complaining, and whining. If you dont like Disney then dont complain about it to the people who do. IF YOU DONT LIKE THE CHANGES THEN GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! If you had a bad time then oh well, I personally come on this website to read about new things happening and for advice. Since when is a smart ______ remark required for every comment posted on a thread? Ive seen more threads about complaints lately than anything else. What is the deal?

I hear ya.

Unfortunatly, it's the nature of the beast...It's a forum. It was built for exactly this purpose: communication. This forum is giving us this unique opportunity to talk to ANYONE in the global community about a thing we all have a passion for. Anytime, anywhere we can voice our opinions and try to make a difference in the kind of world we want to visit. And if that's a negative thought, so be it.

Sounds like SSE to me.:lookaroun:lol:

I honestly think the forum has cycles, though...Remeber last years SSE Blowout? Maybe people are just whiney(It's cold-dark?) this time of year. Summer seems to be more nostalgic( More people going to WDW?)

I would like to see less threads though...It's a tad aggravating. Doom and Gloom is boring.

I am about as hardcore a Disney FREAK as you could ever find. So is my husband. We rarely complain because we have been so many times that we just know what to expect and do not let things we cannot control ruin our vacations.

But sometimes it is interesting to hear different points of view and on occasion someone will mention something that bugged them and it actually helps me in planning for my next trip.

I hate seeing the constant griping as much as you, but do respect the fact that different people have differing points of view.

Good constructive ideas for how to change a few things make for interesting conversation in my book.

In the same way that I do not let rude or negative people bother me at WDW, I take all the negative comments on here with a grain of salt as well.

JMHO.....

These forums have been entertaining whingers and whiners since it was conceived. It is afterall a discussion forum where Disney addicts are entitled to have their say about all things connected to Disney - that includes good and bad.

Perhaps if you don't like reading the negative aspects about Disney then you should avoid those threads

Ok, that's a little extreme. Don't let someone's opinion dictate how you have a vacation. Just enjoy it!

People will always find something to complain about..but you can not let these comments and posts ruin your vacation.

That makes no sense..I go to WDW at least once a year and I ALWAYS have a great time..regardless of what is closed or different or whatever.

I am not one to notice paint chipping or the fact that a firework did not explode at the right time.

I go there because I LOVE being there..the atmosphere, food, memories, everything.

I read this board every single day and read about the complaints and what Disney is getting rid of or replacing or closing and it does not bother me in the least bit.

I know that no matter what happens or what people say I am going to enjoy every single second of my trip and I will ALWAYS go back..and if others choose to not go or do something because they close COP early or they took away chicken nuggets or something that you loved well, that is fine by me..it will not affect the fact that I am there having a great time with my family and loving every minute.

I personally feel that they would be losing out.

I think alot of the times people intend to vent just out of frustration and not necessarily complain. I know I've done it(not on here), but on other boards.

I agree that there seems to be alot more complaining, but if you think about it, this is what I seem to notice: Whenever thing are bad in the economy, jobs are being lost, etc., people seem to complain ALOT more about EVERYTHING!!! But, when things are good, they don't complain as much. Maybe with everything going on in their life, this is the one place they feel comfortable saying how they feel, whether it's Disney related or not.

I'm not saying it's right all the time, but I'm sure even the OP has maybe complained once or twice about an issue or even another person on here. Everyone has done it, including me!!:drevil:

To the OP: I'm not trying to pick on you!! I'm just saying these are possibilties. I hope you understand what I'm trying to say!!

All true.

But this is a place for opinions. I have been going to Disney for MANY years and I think things are not as different as people think they are, but Ill get flamed for that one as well. Things at WDW have always been cyclical, and the pendulum will eventually swing back the other way.

If you don't like it, get into those discussions and mix it up. That is what we are all here for, after all. They may disparage your point of view, but it will remind you of why you have it, either way.

If more projects come successfully to completion, you may see the tone on the boards change.

But be excited about your trip, for even with somethings going wrong, Disney is still Disney. At least for me. If it wasn't, we wouldn't all still be here and Steve would have shut the site down by now.

There have always been the glass is half empty vs the glass is half full types of personalities.

There are also people who can't stand to see someone else happy, and feel it is their responsibility to point out every negative aspect of life.

We've all met them. You tell them you're pregnant, they tell you a horror story about a pregnancy gone bad.

You're getting married, and they tell you about a messy divorce.

You're planning a trip, and they'll tell you a hundred reasons why you won't enjoy yourself.

Reminds me of the "Debbie Downer" skits on SNL.

Hahaha! Funny you mention Debbie Downer, considering the first skit was set IN Disney World.

While everyone is entitled to their view, and I am sure things do need improvement, it does make it less fun to login in and find another "they don't do anything right" thread. I just refuse to get sucked in those threads any more.

If you don't like the whining and complaining why start a post that complains about the complainers.

Just don't read the posts that you don't like.

Like most have said it is the nature of a discussion board and there is also that wonderful news phrase "If it bleeds it leads" dynamic going on as well. A thread proclaiming how much fun Disney was and how nice all the CM's and weather was won't ruffle any feathers and might only go 10 posts deep before it moves on to the thread graveyard. In contrast a thread full of pi$$ and vinegar will aggravate untold numbers and will go on for weeks usually in petty arguments between 2 or 3 people. Because of this that one piece of negativity can appear to grow to be monster. Pretty soon that is all we will see. Evil begets evil.

All we can do is police ourselves. If something Disney does truly angers you then let Disney know but do not let that one bad apple spoil the bunch. Toss out the one rotten piece of fruit and enjoy the good crop that is left.

We just returned from our 30th anniversary trip at the Grand Floridian.
We are BIG Disney fans, we go once a year with our nine kids. I am sorry to tell you that Disney needs to start listening to complaints. On our first day there, we noticed how clean Disney wasn't... We use to notice how clean it was. The bathroom in toon town was discusting, not just dirty, it looked like no one had been there to clean it all day. The park had trash on the ground all over, trash cans were overflowing, not something you would expect at Disney. The employees complaining... not about the visitors, but about the company. We did have good employee encounters, our tour guide for The Keys to the Kingdom tour did a fine job, the staff at the GF were very nice. We had our anniversary pins, and we were told happy anniversary 25,000 times a day (give or take a few!!) Had a Magical moment given to us at the Americas. But the over all experience at Disney is not what it used to be. The complaints that people have always had about the other attractions down in Orlando are now being said about Disney. Maybe Disney is having a hard time keeping to the standards that we have grown to expect from them. I know that companies are having to cut back, and I know that Disney is not immune to it. People have a right to express their views, this should not be a place to just sugar coat everything about Disney. If we did that than Disney would never know what they need to work on. Sometimes the truth hurts, especially when it's about a place we all love such as Disney.
What we noticed the most was the over all cleanliness (trash, bathrooms, and attraction cleaning) and the CM's who were not happy with their jobs.
Will we go again? yes, but with the hope that things will get back to the way they always have been... the Disney we have come to know and love.

This is not an attack on you in the slightest, so please don't take it this way...

The cleanliness issue is a double edged sword. All the 'dirty' issues the above poster talked about involved a total and complete lack of respect/disregard for property on behalf of the WDW GUEST. Perhaps not only are the employees becoming increasingly more and more disgruntled, but guests are feeling much more entitled and selfish when at WDW?
