Something special for the girlfriend @ disney?

I'll be at Disneyworld with my girlfriend in feb. and I was hoping to get some ideas of romantic places or something special. From reading other posts, it looks like the hoop de do revue would be fun. The fireworks will be a nice touch each evening in the parks, along with the electrical water parade, but just looking for something a bit more. It also happens to be her birthday the week after our trip, so I am hoping to get her a birthday pin, and let it be known durring our visit so she can get little perks.
If it's any help, I'm 25 and she's turning 23, we'll be staying onsite at pop century, and will have our own vehicle for transportation.

Thanks in advance everybody!

I suggest filling out the questionnaire at GoaL. They'll send you some suggestions for "events".

I've never actually used their service myself, but if you can afford it it looks like an excellent one. I filled out the questionnaire myself and am waiting for them to get back to me. :lookaroun

We went to the California Grill for our anniversary dinner and it was amazing. Some people say it is loud, but it wasn't that loud and I liked being able to hold a conversation without worrying about everyone hearing me. We also watched Wishes and the electrical parade from our seats. The food is really good too. My fiance' also arranged for roses, champagne, and Mickey glasses to be in our room when we came back, so that's an idea. I think the most romantic thing is talking a walk anywhere and realizing you're at Disney World. Just taking time out to enjoy eachother's company. Just my opinion though! Good luck planning!

There are also fireworks cruises that you can take. There is one at Magic Kingdom and one at Epcot. I don;t know how much you want to spend, but it would be something unique and make it very special... I would love to do one of the cruises.

Hello Fordlover

I think that perhaps a nice carriage ride at either Ft. Wilderness or Port Orleans Riverside may do the trick. It's about $30 for a 1/2 hour. IF you want to book the Hoop de Doo, you can schedule if around that. The HDD price is about $50 per person.

OMG...whatever you do...DON'T do this!

Fireworks cruise gets my vote.

Why not? TAC is a real romantic guy....:D

There are a number of nice romantic dinner spots....We like Artist's Point at WL, there is also Citrico's at GF and Yachtsman's Steakhouse at BC. Flying Fish, a number of the Epcot countries and Cinderella's Castle are also nice but a bit noisier.

There are packages (flowers, treats, etc) that can be orders through Disney to be delivered to your room. You can arrange to have a character call your room with a special message (see guest services). Depending on crouds, luck and who you talk to, you can sometimes arrange for a meet with a specific character. (Also by checking with Guest Services you can find times and locations for scheduled meet and greets)

Hoop de do is alot of fun but not really romantic. For fine dining the best Italian is Palio in the Swan (or was it the Dolphin). They have a strolling mandolin player, very romantic and food that rivals the best of Little Italy!

In Epcot, Bistro de Paris is also top notch and the kind of attention you get at Victoria and Albert without the enormous price tag. Time it with the fireworks that can be seen from dining area and it is truly awesome!

Have fun!

Fireworks cruise with built in music for the Magic Kindgom fireworks (snacks/drinks provided) is about $275 plus tip, etc. It was nice.

I agree with perhaps ressies at California Grill during MK fireworks. They dim the lights and pipe in the music and everyone watches the FW. That is cool.

There are some spas available at WDW if you want to go that route such as at the GF.

Good luck!

I took my g/f there in may 2005 and we went to Narcosis at the Grand Flor. We had dinner around 830 and was able to watch the fireworks at the MK from our table inside. As well the music they play in the park durring the fireworks also play in the resturant. It was great.

It depends on what you can afford. A dinner at California Grille is magnificent but can be expensive. If cost is a concern, think about a drink at the bar at Narcoosee's in the Grand Floridian near the time of the electric Water Pageant. Good luck

for free... just go out the Contemporary balcony near the MK and watch the fireworks - you can get your own private space by just moving up or down the outdoor stairwells... i think if you time it right you can catch part of the water parade too

just a thought (for the cost-conscious)

Along the same lines of the fireworks of the contemporary Polynisain has the beach area. And the sun shaded benches for two. Great place for two people to go and watch the fireworks. When I was there they even piped the music through, and you get to see the fireworks parade. I recommend eating at the steak house in Canada, or getting getting dinner reservations for Britain on the balcony and watching illuminations.

Sounds like a bunch of good suggestions. The ring might be a bit mature, but we've talked about it, however it's going to be about a year before we get serious about that.

I'm probably going to limit myself to 150 dollar budget on the romantic stuff. I'm planning on having flowers delivered to our room on valentines day(probably a couple days before, so she can enjoy them for our full stay.)

The "ring" comment was somewhat in jest. Don't jump in until you're ready. [and on a $150 budget, she'd probably be annoyed ]

You've got a few good suggestions here, I think you'll manage well.

Best of luck! :sohappy:

Hoop-De-Do is fun, though I don't think I'd call it "romantic."

The one thing my GF did each of our three trips was have dinner at the Rose and Crown @ Epcot, outside, so we had a great meal, and a nice place to sit and relax during the fireworks.

No guarantee that you'd get an outside table, but let them know it's a special occasion, and I'd bet they'd make the extra effort.

I definitly suggest Gifts of a Lifetime! I did the birthday package for my parents and they did a survivor type search through MK. My parents loved it! you get to go through rides and find clues to the next thing. I also had them set up a birthday party at the room, it was tough getting the parents to leave MK but once they did and got to the room they were amazed. There were ballons everywhere and streamers and a cake that was personalized and gifts. Its a little pricey but in my opinion, way worth it for the look on their faces. I say go for it, and good luck:sohappy:

do a charecter and when you make the reservation for it tell them its her birthday, well tell everyone its her birthday, but yeah theres so much stuff. And there is a number for the disney flower company, they can have flowers and what not in your room when you check-in so they will be there when you open the door. I forget the number and site I'm sure someone here has it. I think its FTD or somthing like that
