Something is going to happen to Fantasmic

My family and I love WDW but Fantasmic needs a MAJOR overhaul or to be replaced. It's dated and we just don't find it worth making time for when we go.

Actually no, one is a manager in galaxies edge lol. Even so, the frontline cms do know higher up people within the company. Once something like this gets out frontline are almost the first ones to know.

Speaking as someone who used to be a GSM/GEM, we really don't know that kind of information any sooner than the frontline cast do. Anything you hear that hasn't been or isn't on the verge of being publicly announced is likely just the GEM mouthing off to impress you.

they need to remove the Star Wars show. It’s hollywood studios not Star Wars studios. Fantasmic needs an update but not a replacement

That’s true, but it isn’t just a small number of people saying it, it’s multiple. You know how Disney works, someone always knows someone high up and then word travels like gossip in high school lol. Likely fantasmic is going it’s a huge space and it’s outdated. With all the new additions they probably need to cut a nighttime show for budgeting and well, fantasmic seems like it’s the one to go.

So let me re-post one of my earlier postings here about the current state of Fantasmic! (this was in response to a claim/question that if there was any pyro left in WDW's version):

...
I mean there's still plenty of it. Although currently they're [WDW/DHS] cutting back around 5-10% of it as per usual during this (sluggish) time of year, like they do every year. HEA is also cutting back around that much as well.
The pyro used at WDW has more altitude compared to DL, which I really love.
These were from this past week:
415738

415739

Also not sure if it's due to technical difficulties or just temporary budget cuts, but Mickey doesn't even go on top the Tom Sawyer cabin anymore at DL F!, at least for the last 3-ish [now 4] weeks. With this, more then half of the pyro launches aren't being used and pyro is reduced in half.
Pic also from this past week showing Mickey not in his usual spot:
415740

In this sequence, only the one launch on the left and right are being used, as opposed to the 3 each on left and right.
...

WDW's got new lasers about a year+ ago, as well as new projectors. So Disney is still somewhat interested in giving it some TLC, although currently 1 of 3 lasers aren't working at all..

Don't rid of Fantasmic! Disney!! Just give it its much deserved update!

It is a huge space, but there are other expansion pads for DHS that would require less site prep.

If they "need" to cut a nighttime show for "budgeting" then everyone better buckle up, it's going to be a bumpy night.

Speaking of Fantasmic, Tokyo DisneySea will be losing their version of Fantasmic in March.
[/QUOTE]
Don't throw stones at me but Fantastic has been low hanging fruit for year....
If it can happen in Tokyo, it can surely happen here. Fantasmic near and dear to the heart has maybe just a few more lives left. The massive theatre sits vacant and underutilized all day until the sun goes down and then the nightly show begins. Disney knows that and hopefully with the powers of WDI, there can be something there in the future to WOW us all day and into the night in this area of the park.

Sounds like leaks do not only occur in Washington.

Went to WDW in 2015 and 2017 and Disneyland in 2018 & enjoyed the show on each occasion but feel the obvious Disneyland difference. Only when I watched WDWs finale on YouTube this year did I realise how desperate it is for an update. The contrast between the Mark Twain and that pathetic little show boat is too glaring.

But it's the most "IP" of all the shows isn't it?

(That said, I could see them finding plenty of "cuts" to make in the show easily..)

But it doesn't have any Pixar, Marvel or Star Wars in it and I'm sure Disney would love to fix that... 🙄

I wouldn't mind cosmetic and/or technical improvements to the show (like a new boat and dragon), but after seeing the revised version at Disneyland last year I don't trust Disney with any music or scene changes.

F! always struck me as a fairly high labor cost show, with all that cast running around... and labor seems to be a huge cost focus at the moment for the spreadsheet crowd.

Does anyone have any data on how much it costs to run on a per-show basis compared to EPCOT or MK's nighttime spectaculars? Obviously the other two have much higher 'product' costs with pyro, but that's not the whole story. Looking at a park-wide scope, the Studios are also the only one with two evening shows at the moment.

Doesn't pyro usually get ordered & delivered a few months in advanced? I don't see the point in them using less HEA pyro if they already paid for it.

I mean yeah, but I've noticed a couple of pyro reduction in some areas of the show. This happened last year as well, but soon restored to its full glory around spring.

For example, the finale "finale" has half of the fireworks than normal. Another example is less spirals being used during Moana. Pirates segment has less of the swirly fireworks being used as well.

They can always just stock some of them and not use 'em I presume. Cutting back on nightly pyro saves them for the future and such, like when they decide to go full 100% on the pyro/fireworks again.

if they ever *DO* give FL's the same treatment Disneyland's got in '17, I would LOVE to see them correct an audio error., which is replace Brett's "Some imagination, huh?" with Wayne's. they WERE actually going to use Wayne's but for whatever reason decided not too. The decision even surprised Brett.
