Some Disney Stores Closing?

We still have our store here in Huntsville, AL, but I rarely find anything I want in there these days. My wife collects pins, and they still have those, but we don't have any kids, so about 90% of the merchandise they carry now does not interest us. Occaisionally they will get in some adult clothing, but not often. All I ever look at now are the DVDs and pins...:(

In all honesty, I think we buy more out of the catalog these days. I can still find the clothes and housewares that we like there.

Well... My g/f's mom is the manager at our local Disney Store. She origionally told me that our store was going to shut down and be shut down PERMANENTLY! Well... time passed and due to them being the leader of the stores in the area our local Disney Store is not closing at all... just making changes ever so slightly into as someone said, a Disney Play store. I'm happy about this. If you ask me any time I do go into the Disney Store the only adult thing I can buy is socks! And.. I'm not wearing Mickey & Minnie socks. I have been to a Disney Play store before and when I was in it... I really FELT THE MAGIC. I love it cus they actually sell the stuiff they sell at Disney World.. such as the die-cast ride vehicles.. the monorails that talk.. even the candy that has a pic of Goofy on it! Our new "DISNEY PLAY" will be done October 12th 2002. If any of you live in the Pittsburgh region... the store is in Westmoreland Mall. But.. the other Disney Play around here is in Ross Park Mall. We'll talk to you later! :D

My store was closed with 2 weeks notice. Our last day was yesterday. However, my other store closed with 2 months notice in Chicago. There really isn't a standard amount of time, and the company did announce 2 years ago that they had a three year plan to cut the number of stores down from 695 to around 500, but then with the concepts being their own seperate entity (Disney Play, Kids and Combo), that number has dropped down to around 425 remaining.

AND...
It doesn't really matter how good your store is doing. We are/were a top tier spotlight store, and they closed us anyways...
