uggggh, frustrating.
why is it frustrating? soft openings are unpredictable anyway,(you are the guinea pig). you would not want to be that 'guy', the one person that threw their hands up at a certain point and had a wrist broken by a set piece that moved too close/foundation settled/foundation broken?(yes, that is a seriously unlikely event, but still...)

I guess, when you put it that way. Its more frustrating having to explain to the kids that the trip we booked back in December might not have the ride they were looking forward to riding.

it wont be going anywhere... not for a few years anyway, builds antici- wait for it --pation for the next trip, that they can start planning for(in their heads)

That is exactly why Disney never commits a hard date for opening of attractions, there are just too many things that can change during all stages of construction that impact the actual opening dates. The last thing they need is to have said something like "it's opening May 1" and have tons of people schedule their trips and then have a last minute issue that delays it. It's a lesson they learned the hard way many years ago with the first generation of Test Track.

If you book a trip 'around' the opening of a new attraction you are inherently accepting the risk that it might not be finished when you get there.

If you told your kids in December that they would be able to ride this in April, that was just silly.

No, told them they would be able to ride by end of May. Never once mentioned April so I guess you are the silly one orky8

I don't understand your frustration then... Seeing as the end of May is still over a month away and almost all reports seem to indicate we will probably be in soft openings if not actually opened by then. Either way, though, I wouldn't be promising my children anything with regard to when they may be riding this.

Thank you for your parental guidance Orky, I will take it into consideration.

They're trying to go for the record of longest time to build a single attraction, so every week's wait is more for the claim to fame.

Even with them drawing things out though, I suspect it will be open fully by Thanksgiving at the latest.

Correct me if I am wrong, but the soft opening for New Fantasyland was early December 2012, after the Thanksgiving holiday. Using that as a guide, I would say that the soft opening could be next week, after the Easter crowds. IMO, they would not want a soft opening with huge crowds even if it is a controlled opening. Next week should be much smaller crowds which would be better to control access and would still give time to test prior to the media event.

more walls tonight... Video being shot tomorrow afternoon.. possible that they will open for soft tomorrow evening, but not guaranteed ... it's all very much in flux... trust me, if it were ready, it would be open.. finishing touches.
How do you know all this?
