soda refills in all parks

Two solutions:

1) Club Cool - Disney does give away free coke.

2) Water from drink stands - You don't have to buy something. They will give you free ice water if you ask. It's tap water, but isn't so bad with lots of ice.

i personally would hate to have to carry around a mug for a whole day--travel as light as possible and not worry about lugging things around--hahaha:)

One of things that I do when I'm in WDW, is I bring the single packets of Crystal Light to add to water to help mix things up. I grew up drinking diet sodas (yes, I know brain damage is in my future) and I found adding the Crystal Light helped me increase my water intake.

Personally I've gotten away from purchasing sodas with my meals - paying $2.00 for a soda seems so outrageous to me.

Be careful not to confuse a drink stand with a drink cart. They don't have any tap water for you. It's a $2.50 bottle (has the price gone up?) or drippings the ice that is keeping the drinks cold which they are not supposed to give you for sanitary reasons.

I live in Wisconsin and everything's a "coke" to me... I would probably shoot myself if I used the word "pop". That's what I call my dad. :D

I don't see how anyone can "need" a coke.

But enough of that, you're saying you can go about the parks and get more soda for free whenever? In what kind of cup? Your resort's cup is just for your resort, right? I wasn't even aware of this? Are you sure the one at EU isn't being utilized in a way other than was intended?

Disney giving free coke away just doesn't make sense... especially since no one profits from it.

Oh and the drain bramage comment... I get being wary but does that mean we make unsubstantiated claims that these sugarfree beverages cause brain damage? Oh, it does? Forgive me, I was brought up thinking I had to actually support my arguments...

I've been drinking the sugarfree stuff for years... no brain damage yet. I get how aspertame (sp?) isn't great for kids, but as far as I know sucralose (splenda) is sort of taking over and has been shown to be safer as a sugar substitute.
After seven years of higher education, I am pretty sure that I know when to give sources. I gave no source because as I said, there are numerous conflicting reports on sugar substitutes. It is well known, therefore a source is not necessary. However, if you must, google "sucralose and brain damage". You will find dozens of scholarly articles on the subject. I say scholarly because they are not from wikipedia or joe schmo's health site.

As far as the free soda, I once bought a souvenir cup at Epcot that was in the shape of SSE. I am pretty sure that it came with free refills at certain locations. The cups were somewhat expensive and so the profit came from the high cost of the cup. (same theory behind the resort mugs) I will admit that this was some years ago and it may not be the case today.

I'd also suggest googling, "Excitotoxins" for a horribly disturbing look at aspartame ("NutraSweet") and Monosodium Glutamate ("MSG.") The work by Neurosurgeon Dr. Russell Blaylock alone is terrifying.

(I only mention it because both sucralose - brand name, "Splenda" - and aspartame - brand name, "NutraSweet" or "Equal" - are the two main artificial sweeteners found in "diet" sodas. So if you wanted to learn about the scientific facts behind them, it's best to look up both chemicals.)

Na, no thanks, Ive enough to worry about with BSE in meat, mercury in fish, toxins and flu in poultry, agro chemicals in vegetables, rising sea levels, global warming, the economic crash, trans fats, cholesterol, additives, GM crops, E-coli in cooked products, toxins from food packaging, pollution in the water and the fact that no one has yet discovered the secret for eternal life.

I didn't want to perpetuate this because I know you are probably well meaning, but I was just so amused by what I found when I did that...

"Your search - sucralose+"brain damage" - did not match any documents.

Suggestions:
  • Make sure all words are spelled correctly.
  • Try different keywords.
  • Try more general keywords.
  • Try fewer keywords."

Ok, I did just refine my search so it looked exactly like "sucralose and brain damage" and I did find several articles, most of which were scholarly but inconclusive.

The point being that if evidence is inconclusive, I don't think it's right to make broad statements that are phrased as absolute truths, like "sucralose causes brain damage".

But anyway... sorry about the deviation from the topic...

I can only drink so many bottles of water a day. I just like some flavor if I'm going to chugging down a gallon or two during my death march through the parks.

On my last trip, I brought a long a bunch of those "tea-2-go" pouches. Wylers and 4C's makes them along with others. basically, they are little tiny pouches about the size of a pack of gum that are pre measured to go into a 16.9 oz bottled water. They come in a bazillion flavors and even Walmart has their own brands and flavors. I particularly like the rasberry, but do NOT get the powder on you for it will STAIN. Just add to a bottle of water, shake, and now you have some good flavored water.

it comes in sugar-free, but I don't want to recommend any cancer causing recipes for you. :hammer:

Contributing to that arguement, just about ANYTHING can cause cancer these days, it just depends on who is funding the study. :p If you want to go with an end all regading the sugar vs. sugar free, how about you just agree that the PLASTIC bottle it comes in will kill you because of the Phenol-A it releases. A "study" showed that 93% of Americans have that chemical in their urine as a result of the chemical leeching out of plastic and into our bodies!! Hmmmmm...you want to guess who funded the study and tallied the results???? How about the group trying to ban plastic?

Is everyone here old enough to remember the big saccharin scare?? Becuase that sugar alternative caused cancer in rats, it put soda companies like TAB out of business and basically set back the diet industry for a decade. Turns out that the amount of saccharin they were giving ONE rat was IRRELEVANT becuase the mechanism in rats that caused the cancer was NOT possible in humans! Yet it took from 1977 when the so called tests were done UNTIL 2001 for the warning lable to be lifted in the USA. So believe what you want about bad sugar substitutes and what diseases they cause. I can almost guarantee most is a bunch of crap done for alternative interests.

I am quoting all three of you because you have mostly proved my point. We are all going to die of something. So why bother substituting my sugar. I would rather stick with it. The "Dame bramage" comment was in jest, which was the exact reason for the mis-spelling. These numerous reports are conflicting and so I choose not to waste years of my time to get to the bottom of it or worry too much about it. We worry far too much these days. Finally, I apologize, once again, for taking this way off topic.

Edit. I felt guilty for getting off topic, so after some research, it seems that the only place that still sells souvenir refillable cups in the parks is AK. They have some sort of Animal head topper.

Some people would like to challenge that concept.
