Soarin's Single Flyers Line

I went by Soarin' this afternoon and was greeted by a Standby wait of 110 minutes and no more Fastpasses. I went and asked the CM at the entrance if the Singles line was open, and he told me, "No, it didn't work with the way we load the ride." This implies that the Singles line is closed indefinitely, rather than just temporarily to let the line shorten.

Anyone know if it's gone for good? Or was this another CM lie to drive people away?

It hasn't ever opened, which makes no sense to me. You would figure that during construction, they can figure out if the single rider queue would be able to work in a ride like this one. Personally, I think it could. Every time I have been on this ride, there are always empty seats everywhere.

I've used it two or three times. Each time had a CM at the entrance with a clipboard marking down how many people went in. One of the times, I had to wait 10 minutes before I was even let in the line.

I asked the same question while there also...

Then after going on Soarin' I figure out why real quick, the Florida version's queue is much much longer so if the Single rider line filled up it would be out of control.

The way to solve this problem would be to have a turnstyle at the entrance and to allow x number of guest in every 10-15 minutes so the line doesn't get out of hand.

These pictures should help with my explanation what I am tolding about
(Click on the picture for a bigger version)

Here is a picture of the Cailfornia Entrance:

Here is a picture of the same spot in Florida:

Up at the top of the ramp where the 'blue tunnel' starts is where the entrance to the California version is. So as anyone who has been on the Florida version knows there is a LONG walk just to get to that point. It would be my guess that the Florida version's queue is 3x longer than in California.

Does that make any sense?

Why don't they just post an estimated wait time? They built LEDs into the Singles sign, so why not use them? If people know the wait in the line will be long, they will be less likely to enter it. This keeps the line length regulated.

Because if the single flyer's line was even 25% full the wait time could be 30-45 minutes, this guess comes from the other Future World attractions at have single rider lines and the waits the have.

Besides that the 2 times we rode last month they didn't have any problems filling each and every seat without having a single flyer line.

On the flip side - the ride exiting before mine had several empty seats (atleast 5) and my ride itself had 3 just in section B alone. This was with a standby wait time nearing an hour and a half.

I've used it too. Single Flyers was open in mid May, and much appreciated.

Wow.. a 110 minute standby wait is a lot!!!
Never seen that long of a line for Soarin'... at least not in DCA.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that's because Epcot has twice as many visitors as DCA.

Ill correct you. Soarin at Epcot has twice as many visitors as DCA. And with good reason too.

With a 110 minute standby wait time, it sounds like Soaring is more popular than Mission Space and up there with Test Track. The singles line worked great at DCA. Haven't been on Epcot's Soaring yet, but I sure as heck wouldn't wait 110 minutes.

the reason that Soarin' has such a long line is mostly due to the fact that it can't move as many people as M:S. TT is in the same boat.

Youre right. Mission Space is usually a walk on from about 3-6pm.

Mission:Space is a people mover. It can accomodate a lot more people that Test Track and Soarin can per hour. That is why the waits don't get incredibly out of hand (like Test Track). The seating system also highly favors a single riders line.

I haven't ridden Soarin' yet, but it seems like it would be a very good candidate for a Single Riders system. If Disney isn't using it, there must be a very good reason. I also don't understand how it could be a loading problem and why that wasn't taken care of during construction.

I waited two and a half hours even though it was posted as ninety minutes. So it's slow AND inaccurate.

If the single flyers line was working, it would have been much appreciated.

I won't go on Mission Space but I didn't realize it could handle more people. It just seemed like the whole centrifuge thing would limit the amount of guests per ride. I know Disney doesn't usually release attendance figures, but I wonder when all is said and done for a busy day, whether TT, M:S, or Soaring has higher numbers?
