Just got back today and i have to tell ya that Soarin' pretty much sucked to me. It was ok for fastpass but i would be really disappointed if i had to wait more than 20 minutes in line. sorry guys but i just didn't like it. boy does stitch's great escape really sucks. alien encounter was great. why did they do such a thing to that.

I think a lot of us are going to hate Stitch just because we have it set in our heads that everyone and their dog hates it. Had I not been here and seen all the negative reviews I probably wouldn't think it was AS BAD as it really is.

As far as Soarin' goes, I really don't understand what is so appealing about the ride. I've never been on it though so keep that in mind. I know I will probably love it but to me it just sounds like Back To The Future at US but you are hanging instead of in a car. I don't mean for that to sound negative but without riding it it's hard to understand what is so great about it. (Grrr. I can't figure out how to word that without it sounding negative and making me sound bad. )

I haven't been on it yet either but what comes into my mind is the old speed room in the Eastern Wings of Man ride in the MK. Instead of feeling like your moving very fast, you feel like you are flying, of course if you look at the machinery you see that your hardly doing anything but it is a great illusion.

I think one of the biggest perks on it for me is the music (and I haven't even ridden it yet). I am a big fan of large, impressive scores, so that alone would make this attraction good for me. I just like the fact that the focus is not necessarily the ride system as the main show. It is the way of getting people to see the show. It also, unlike Body Wars or Star Tours which are thrill rides (i.e. the ride system is the thrill), is based on the film which is EASILY changed and can be used to tell multiple stories if necessary (i.e. travel across different biomes depending on theater). I realize I haven't riddent his, but I think it will be great and certainly a better experience than was Food Rocks! I am very excited to actually get to ride this!

One of the best parts about Soarin' Over California here at Disneyland is the swell of home-grown Californian pride. Since it opened four years ago, it's one of those rides that I always take friends from out of state on, because it's just such a wonderful commercial for the State. And the 25 Million SoCal locals, who make up a huge chunk of Disneyland visitors, always get a warm and fuzzy feeling after flying over their home town of San Diego or Los Angeles or Orange County beaches or Palm Springs, etc., etc.

I was talking about this topic with some fellow Disneyland AP holders about two weeks ago when Epcot's Soarin' was doing previews. We all kind of wondered if the average WDW tourist from Ohio or New Jersey or Georgia would really "get" what Soarin' is, and what makes it enjoyable.... A giant love fest to the great State of California, with a dollop of Disneyland USA in the finale'.

I think Soarin' might make more sense to East Coasters once it gets a new ride film in 5 or 10 years.

Don't expect every ride you go on to be a thrill ride and your problem is solved.

Was Soarin over CA put in as part of the 50th celebration only? maybe the film will be changed once the celebration is over. After all, it is Disneyland's 50th. Maybe I'm stating the obvious, but it seems that a lot of people don't understand why the film wasn't changed, but it makes sense that it wasn't, since it is celebrating California's park.

jrobinson424: Is this why you thought the ride "sucked"? I only ask because I enjoy it for that very reason. I don't like thrill rides. Soarin' is a gentle, peaceful, beautiful ride for the rest of us. I think ToT, Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, ect. all suck. Doesn't mean other people don't love them.. they just don't do anything for me.

I'm surprised that someone wouldn't like this ride (no offence). I can see how someone might not get how spectacular it is until they do ride it. I was the same way, thinking, what is the big deal? But believe me, it is so much better than Back to the Future. I personally thought it was very amazing. It really does feel like you are flying and even though the ride system is not the focus it really is unique and incredible, I think. And I agree that the music is really outstanding for this ride. I too think a good musical score can really add to a ride. Soarin is great for those of us who are too afraid to go on Mission Space.

The best way I've found to describe "Soarin'" to someone that hasn't been on it is this: Have you ever been to an IMAX theater? You know the sensation you get from watching a film where there is alot of motion from that? Picture one of those screens so that the dome to it(bear in mind, I'm using the Mugar Omni Theater at the Museum of Science in Boston for my reference here, I know not all IMAX screens are domed) is going outward from the wall, instead of up to the ceiling. Now picture being suspended over it. That will give you a general idea of what Soarin' is like, but it is really something you have to experience for yourself to get a true appreciation for it.

I don't care for it, either and I have been on it. I think that any ride that hasn't been overly hyped would get a better initial response than those that you hear about for months before experiencing. After hearing about Soarin' for the last year, it's been hyped as a new and better way to slice bread. I enjoy the 360 movies in World Showcase more because it's a very different way to look at a movie. I also don't like the seating arrangement- according to most, there is only ONE ROW that has the best view out of several. When I rode it, people's feet were in my face and that took away from it.

I can also say the same about the Matterhorn at Disneyland. I've heard about this attraction for years and years, and I couldn't wait to ride it. When I did earlier this month, it was absolutely terrible. Had I not heard about the attraction before, and happened upon it, it might have been a much better ride IMO.

Soarin'

I have a feeling that this ride is more than likely going to be like the 2005 Ford Mustang. A lot of people are going to hate it and a lot are going to love it. I think for a while the California video will hold it's ground but will more than likely get a replacment with one of Florida. I do agree that the Cali video is just possibly around for the 50th celebration. Which, one day I plan to go to DL. But I'm going to run through C.A. as fast as I can. I really haven't heard a nice thing about that park...

I love the take off and the landing, though. How high up are you on that ride? I looked down, and I felt like I was at least 50 feet in the air.

I just returned and I found Soarin wonderful! I guess each to their own on opinions!
I did Stich and found it just full of potty humor, I can only imagine that it would be humerous to adolescents. I refuse to let my 5 yr old any where near it.... Just my humble opinion..

By the way Photo Dave , Great AV... Love it..!!!!!!

I think it might be about 40 feet or so (for the highest seats), but I'm not exactly sure.

I must agree with the people who loved it. My whole family loved it. In fact, (I know I've said this but I'll say it again) my mom, who doesn't care at all for rides, came out loving it. It's definitely something special. But again, to each his own :D
