Soarin' was a disappointment to me

I really love Soarin...it seems like most people like it too. I went on it 7 times today and every time it's been great!

7 times?...must have used a lot of fastpasses or spent the whole day in line?!?

I just got back, and I really enjoyed it. And my six year old, after complaining all 60 minutes of being in line for it, couldn't wait to go on it again. We got fastpasses the second time around! The only disappointment was that there were no pins available yet.

Today at a local Disney store in FL, I saw cute little Disney characters who were "parachuting" with little hang glider type things. I can't help but think within a week or two they'll have a Soarin' logo and be at Mousegear.

Not everybody is going to love everything, that's life. I've been surprised that up until now I haveN'T heard anyone say they didn't like it. I knew it was bound to come up eventually :) Did you happen to ride it though on the third row at the end of the row? Unfortunately, not all seats are equal on this attraction. Every seat provides a good time, but there are some that provide an amazing time. Its an unfortuante consequence of the ride system, but I don't think its a major problem. Personally speaking though, I think Soarin' is a true winner for Epcot and WDW as a whole.

I was in the middle section on the last row (I think B3). The biggest thing about simulators is that they don't trick me for a second. They also make my stomach turn. The only ones that work well with me are simulators with animated movies like Spider-man. I was in the middle and I saw the blackness of the areas outside of the screen. I can only imagine being on the end of the A or C section. I wasn't crazy about the feet in my face, either. I love the take off, though. If I could just do that over and over again it would be great. I walked the attraction to the top a couple times when it was still in development, so I know that it is really high, and I enjoy that part more than the movie itself. The movie should've been digital as well. The quality reminds of a movie from the 80s. I could see the dust on the screen.

Also, the ocean smelled like oranges...

I rode Soarin' Over California earlier this month. I haven't tried the one at Epcot yet.

Was Soarin over CA put in as part of the 50th celebration only? maybe the film will be changed once the celebration is over. After all, it is Disneyland's 50th. Maybe I'm stating the obvious, but it seems that a lot of people don't understand why the film wasn't changed, but it makes sense that it wasn't, since it is celebrating California's park.

The word is the the California footage will only be running until after the 50th then Epcot will get its own film exclusive to the park. No word on what it will include but the word is that they'll get one. I'd take this as a rumor though until its officially announced but it makes sense.

thought it was great

I thought it was great. Been on 6 times now.
5 times as the passholder viewing.

6th time was a long line though.
They only had one side open though.

Alien encounter was not that good either. The commercial at the time when it opened showed much more then what it ever was.

I went on it once.. sat in B1. Thought it was OK. The take-off was AWESOME, but that only lasted about.. 3 seconds? The rest just felt like I was in the cinema 180 domes from the 80s except that I was up above, instead of on the floor. Now, thats a good thing and a bad thing. I love cinema 180, but this didn't feel like anything extra. I didn't even catch a storyline, which is usually a key ingredient to any Disney attraction. This doesn't mean I won't ride it again, it's just that IMO it's not as great as everyone is making it out to be.

My brother actually rode the ride yesterday, and he enjoyed..He said it was better than Mission Space. I can't wait to ride Soarin'

I would much rather ride Soarin' than MS when given the option...

Never been a fan of MS... Soarin's just plain fun.

I was in the first row all the way at the end on the right side. It was very good, and Soarin' became one fo my absolute favorites, one of my 'classics'. The image from where I was sitting was very good, and no, you did not see the edge of the screen when I was there. At some points you could, but lots of times, I just turned away, and l focused on the whole fo the screen, and it was very good. I thoguht it was one of the best places i could've seen it. When the glider moves, you go along with it. If you're in the center or in the last rows, you won't have the same experience. Also, you could go on the other row, the left most part, but the screen won't be with you, you'll be moving the opposite way around, so that won't complete the experience..

I just rode it again today.. row b1.. again. It was better this time because I didn't go in with such high expectations. It was about 35 minutes standby during the afternoon. Singles line not running.

I still can't put my finger on exactly what is missing. The one thing i remarked this time that was good was that you can't tell where the screen is. This makes everything seem more real. Maybe because its not 3-D, or the film isn't detailed enough, that its just *that* short of being great.

Soarin confuses me :)

As an aside, the roast beef with mashed potatoes at the seasons food court is awesome!
