Soarin soft openings begin next week

I just heard some great news from someone who is working at Soarin that as of today, WDI and WDW operations are planning to hold a press event on Tuesday, March 15 followed by soft openings for guests beginning on Wednesday March 16. Due to the Land still a month away from opening they will be bringing riders in a side entrance and alley that is accessed from beside the Imagination building. Unless any unforseen construction delays push this date back, Soarin previews will begin much earlier than expected.

Is this side entrance for the previews a new path they have constructed? Or have I ust overlooked it all this time?

Sounds like the renovations INSIDE the LAND pavilion are turning out to be much more involved than originally planned. Hopfully it will be ready for its big May 5th debut.

I'm heading on vacation on 4/28. I was hoping it would have a soft opening long before the 05/05/05 date. Ever since riding it at DCA, I have just been dying to do it again.

I can only hope the stunt car show is ready and is having soft openings by 4/28, too. That would be sweet!

So they'll be escorting guests backstage?!

The only way to get to the Soarin building without going through the Land is to go backstage. I wonder if this will be a MS type of preview where it opens at 4 or so and stays open 'til 6. It will be interesting to see what they do with the queue, since they need to have some room back there for vehicular traffic. At the CM preview, there was probably 400/500 people, and the whole indoor queue was full.

I'm not so sure a preview like this will take place.

I have to admit that it surprises me Disney will go out of its way to take guests backstage for an unscheduled preview????? it's not like this is new technology that has to be tried out. And we are pretty sure the guests will like it (based on reaction to the one at DCA). So, if this does happen....it will be odd. Aren't previews already in place for a months from now?

Yes the entrance will be through the gate next to The Imagination building looks like they will be letting people in to the ride in the afternoons and only during the week, not on weekends. I don't know how you can get in but it may be if you are an annual pass holder or staying at a WDW resort.

It's not hard to set up baracade queue lines. That way people stay in the queue and don't wander backstage. Not to mention people watching the guests.

Anyone have better luck than me? If so, what time of day was it?

Patrick got his preview around 3. You all need to do simple forum browsing to answer your own questions. You are also missing the fact that this isn't going to be happening daily.. Only on select days.
