Soarin' and a 2-1/2 year old?

I'm going down in Dec. My daughter is tall enough (40") to ride. I'm thinking it's still not a good idea to put her on it, but I do hear it's very smooth.

She loves being spun around and pushed hard on the swing sets but I would think this is a different thing so I am leaning twords no. We'd just do the swap.

If some people lean twords yes, I also have the problem that she will not have a ticket. What happens if my wife and I have FP but she can't get one?

is your daugter afraid of heights? If she is steer clear. If not I dont think it would be a bad idea. Just hold on to her and tell her what everything is (i.e ocean trees etc.). Its pretty tame and smooth

It's a very smooth ride and not dark at all, I would take her on it. If you can handle Peter Pan, you can handle soarin. You won't need a FP for her, just for the two of you.

My daughter was 3 for her first ride and she loved it but she also loves ToT, TT Splash, and BTM so she might not be the best example.

Master Yoda.....wowza!!! 3 yrs old and on all of those rides!!!! What a daredevil, you may be in trouble when she gets older!

Thanks for the info on the belts. We're going to see how she is that day, but we try to give it a shot with her!

That has crossed my mind. I know it is only a matter of time before I get that call from school "Your daughter is repelling down the 80' flag pole...again!"

i was really anxious before i rode soarin' but when i sat on it it was perfect. its like being on a swing and not coming down for a couple of minutes and in that time you soar over waves, trees, san fran bridge, a golf course, an aircraft carrier, disneyland. one point to make is that when you are soarin' over somewhere there is a loud noise and it might scare your child and when you soar over disneyland there are fireworks which make a bang, but that might startle him/her.

hope that helps!!!!!

My mother screamed her head off and cursed like I've never heard her curse before when I took her on Test Track. She hates any kind of "thrill" ride to the point of disowning me if I ever threaten to take her on one again.
But Soarin' OTOH? She LOVES! If your daughter likes swing sets and being swung around, then she may be game for Soarin...

If you've never ridden it before, I would suggest getting three FastPasses, (even though you don't need one for her) and riding it first to evaluate for yourself. You're the best judge of what she can and can't take! Have fun!! :)

This is absolutely not a safety issue for your daughter. She will be completely safe at all times, including no hard shakes. You can even get the row that is closest to the ground to avoid the heights thing. The issue with that age is how psyched out she will get. I had to all but DRAG my son on it at that age when Soarin' came out at Disneyland. He just didn't know what to expect and had worked himself up. With no spouse to trade with and total assurances from cast members that safety wasn't an issue, I was a bad mom and made him go! I had heard it was terrific and wasn't going to miss it because my son was choosing to be a drama queen! Anyway, he ended up liking it just fine and now loves it. I am sure the ONLY reason he didn't love it then is that he is a stubborn little and wasn't giving me the satisfaction. So it is really only a question of a three year old's mood of the moment. I found at the early ages, my son was MUCH better on the borderline rides at the END of the trip, rather than the beginning.

Sorry for the book. Hope it helps.

I can't believe your 2 1/2 year old is 40 inches! My 2 1/2 year old is only about 36 inches. My 4 1/2 year old son is 41 inches, just barely tall enough.

I don't think I'd take my 2 1/2 year old on Soarin. They can't sit on your lap and it would be difficult to hold on to them in the seat next to you. My 4 year old just barely did ok. I think 6 months ago I would have skipped it for him.

I am with Laura. My DD is only now big enough to ride it (and that is with shoes on.) She will be 5 years old in March. Las May she wasn't tall enough, but I think she would of loved it. I am not sure about when she was 2 1/2 only because she can get jumpy and want to be next to us.

I think the best thing might be to ride it 1st yourself so you know.

I am looking forward to taking DD on soaring this next trip. She might be tall enough for other rides, but I am guessing we will be skipping most of them.

If your child is not afraid of heights, I would recommend taking her on Soarin'.
The seatbelts for smaller riders goes up through the legs and click on the shoulder restraints. The ride is very smooth so at times it feels like you are not moving.

Thanks all

Thanks for all the input. I'm taking my parents as well, so my wife & I will probably ride it first and then decide if we should take her on.

Laura22...My daughter is off the charts for both height and weight. She's 40" and 36lbs, she looks like a 4yr old! The pediatrician says she will be near 6ft as an adult. I'm 5'8" and my wife's 5'6"!!!!!(Both of her grandads are 6'2" though, I guess height skipped a generation)

My 2.5yo is very tall too and we're going to stretch him a bit so he grows that last inch or so to 40" by Jan. We have ridden it doing the swap last time which takes forever and we just know he will love it, so he will spend Christmas on the stretching machine! :xmas:

I think she will be fine. We just took our 4 yr old on Soarin and she loved it. She was a little nervous the first time, so I said she didn't have to go on again, but she wanted to! There is enough room in the seats for you to keep your arm around her and hold her hands.
