I think where Disney is about transporting yourself to a different world, Universal is about transporting yourself specifically to a movie's world, if that makes sense.QotD: We know about the "Disney Difference" but what is the "Universal Difference"?
“Universal Studios: More screens than you can possibly imagineQotD: We know about the "Disney Difference" but what is the "Universal Difference"?
Exactly! The best parts of Disney parks are new worlds where the characters can live. Meanwhile the best part of Universal parks are when they make you feel like you're on a film set.I think where Disney is about transporting yourself to a different world, Universal is about transporting yourself specifically to a movie's world, if that makes sense.
The style of the trips, but this is subjective to experience...Disney I have a tendency to relax and take my time. But that's also because I've been there more. The couple of times I've been to Universal I've felt rushed because they were day trips. Disney is like a back country road and Uni is more of a freewayQotD: We know about the "Disney Difference" but what is the "Universal Difference"?

Funny you mention that, because I find Disney to be A LOT more exhausting of a trip than Universal. Universal has everything right there, and I didn't once have to wait to take a bus to or from CityWalk at any point in the 10 days I was staying at Cabana Bay. In fact pretty much every time I went to get on a bus there wasn't even a rush to do so as there would be another bus right behind it waiting to load people. I totally get why the bus system is so much better at Universal given the actual difference in size between the two resorts is astronomical, but that one element alone made my Universal stay a lot more tolerable whereas with Disney it feels like hitting the lottery if you walk up right as a bus is pulling up, and even more so if the bus doesn't hit capacity before you're able to actually get on.
That and I actually really appreciate the smaller scale of Universal. Once Epic Universe opens I think the actual offerings are really going to compete with Disney, but even with Epic Universe in the picture it's just so much more manageable to see and do everything the property has to offer. The luxury of choice at Disney is great, but as a foodie it can also be overwhleming and exhausting haha.
Keep in mind when I stayed at Universal property I only had one day at the Universal parks, so I'm speaking in terms of a hypothetical all-Universal vacation which I'm semi-planning in my head as my next solo trip. I'd imagine 4-5 days instead of the usual week-plus marathon of a Disney trip or an all Orlando parks trip like my last vacation was. It just sounds lovely to spend a few days on property and not have to worry about not having time to see everything I want to see. The urge to go to Disney would definitely be there, but I honestly think the Universal parks deserve the time to really soak them in as I've also only experienced both parks within single day marathon visits.
@mickeyfan5534 and I will be going live with a retrospective on the Phineas and Ferb movie tonight at 10:30PM Eastern for anyone interested in some animation nostalgia.
Universal lends itself well to a more relaxed trip if you've got the time. When I lived in Orlando, I used to go all the time. Would spend whole days and only do one or two rides. It's got the same kind of vibe as hanging out at Walmart as a teen. There isn't as many rules, things are more laid back, and the cast members are more chill than Disney ones. There is a significantly higher number of Universal cast members who just very clearly do not give a flip. It makes it a very chill place sometimes. Especially if you are ok with roasting and teasing everything there. Plus, their refill cups is a pretty great deal for being there all day since it includes soda and icees.
Plus, even at a relaxed pace, you can do just about everything in both parks that is really worth doing in a day or two pretty easily. Especially if you don't mind single rider lines.
Plus, Men in Black might be the most re-rideable attraction in FL. I could do in 8 times in a row and be happyThat's another thing, single rider lines are a god send for Universal and I don't get why WDW doesn't have them. Universal has a pretty solid mix of attractions that are fun to roast (Rip Ride Rocket, Fallon, Fast and Furious, Shrek) and genuinely state of the art attractions.
I'm so freaking excited to talk about this@mickeyfan5534 and I will be going live with a retrospective on the Phineas and Ferb movie tonight at 10:30PM Eastern for anyone interested in some animation nostalgia.
- Every Friday at 8PM EST I tune into VH1 for Drag Race. Thank god Celebrity Drag Race is over though, 8 PM to 1130 PM is a lot
Team Crystal!
EDIT: Or Team Jaida. I'm not picky but this is legit one of the greatest trios of finalists ever and I'd be pleased with any of them winning.
Noooooooo I hadnt watched it but yes we staaaaasamTo follow up on this...
We love a fabulous drag queen who is $100,000 richer.
Disney tends to make the best original content, while Universal tends to make the best content based on IPs, however Disney tries to break the mold and be more like Universal while Universal is confident in what it already is and doesn't feel the need to be more like Disney. Disney has an image based on innocent whimsy while Universal is more based on more serious thrills.QotD: We know about the "Disney Difference" but what is the "Universal Difference"?
On top of Heidi winning Miss Congeniality which was extremely deserved. TBH I thought I was done with RPDR after the Season 12 shenanigans with Shuga Cain (there was literally no reason she was in the bottom for the magic show) and the All Stars 4 shenanigans with Manilla (she shouldn't even have been in the bottom for that makeover when Monet won and did FAR worse) but my god this was an amazing season.Noooooooo I hadnt watched it but yes we staaaaasam
