What is the most overrated Disney movie?
Frozen. No contest. It was only made because Disney wanted to cash in on the success of Tangled and rehashes that film in multiple ways (oh, what, I'm just supposed to assume it's a coincidence that both movies feature hoofed animals that act like dogs?") and it's not nearly as clever as it thinks it is. The only thing I like about the movie is Olaf. I'm baffled that it became such a huge success.

By the way, count me in as somebody who doesn't like Ralph Breaks the Internet either. At least Frozen wasn't an advertisement for Disney's most financially successful franchises.

I've never fully embraced Wall*E. It's another example of a movie that feels split in half. The first act is freaking MASTERFUL storytelling and one of Pixar's finest moments. All the stuff on the Axiom...with the exception of "Define Dance", ranges from "very good" to "Eh...". The side characters in that movie just completely fizzle for me, as does the un-needed HAL rip-off villain that simply drags the films overall creativity points down. It also somewhat annoys me that the film has such a clear cut happy ending when they had everything set-up for a Monsters Inc. style ambiguously happy ending with them saving the Earth but Wall*E loosing his memory. To me the perfect ending to that movie would have been Eve floating away from Wall*E after the memory wipe, off camera we hear a faint "...Eva...?" and then...BOOM...CREDITS. That would have been a huge mic-drop ending for me. The actual ending isn't bad, but it does feel very "wrapped up with a bow".

In a lot of Disney fan circles: Atlantis.

Don't get me wrong, its a good film with fun characters. But its become this cult classic where people who are into it act like it is an undiscovered gem that should be treated as the best Disney's ever made. It's a decently fun experimental era film. But outside of Home on the Range it is probably the weakest of the era (I stand by Chicken Little being hilarious!)

What is your most "What the heck?" Best Picture winner?

Oh man...there's definitely some good ones in this category. The King's Speech easily comes to mind as one of the weaker films in the Best Picture field. The fact that the award didn't go to The Social Network is going to historically stand out as a huge mistake on the Oscars part. Argo's win over Django Unchained wasn't surprising, but I very much dislike Argo's smug, self satisfied "yay Hollywood!" tone so it's never sat right with me as a Best Picture contender. Gone Baby Gone and The Town are easily stronger Affleck directed films. And let's not forget freaking GREEN BOOK. Garbage. Just a pipping hot garbage movie and the worst Best Picture winner since Crash. Generally speaking though, this has been a relatively solid decade for Best Picture winners. Parasite, The Shape of Water, and Birdman stand out as absolutely correct calls and bold choices on the Academy's part.

To be fair, I liked The King's Speech too. Not saying I didn't. It's certainly not a Green Book situation where I can just call it a trash movie haha. Excellent performances and directing in that movie and it's easily the film where Tom Hooper's bizarre stylistic choices make the most sense. I just don't think it's even on the same playing field as The Social Network which most people will put towards the top of any best movies of the decade list.

That year had a deep lineup too, Inception and Black Swan come to mind as others in that field.

Green Book is probably the worst but to be fair 2018 had one of the worst fields imo in recent years, but even out of that it still was a bizarre choice
