Sorry for the oversight. I just finished reading the projects and was about to start on reviews, but I'll get to yours first. :)

Generally speaking, I really am loving this transitioning point of a Mystic Point style mansion. It calls to mind the opening of the Through the Looking Glass while still feeling very much in line with rabbit hole itself via the project mapping effects. I would have liked to have seen maybe a few more effects happening on the actual descent down. It's a cool effect, but doesn't have a ton outside of the projection mapping to set it apart. That being said, I do enjoy how you board the catepillars completely underground, and the inclusion of the Caucus Race is something I've always wanted to see!

It is actually supposed to be a simulated elevator. That’s why the floor shakes.

Woops I clearly haven't been paying attention lol

@Outbound all the podcasts on your site come up with error messages. Any way you can quickly fix this within the next couple hours?

That was intentional, blame it on the Top Secret Disney Employee. The podcast doesn't exist

Dear Top Secret Disney World Employee,

I have completed Mr. Fozzie Bear's request for his website. Even copied word for word all his personal dialogues. I understand this attraction is top secret, and we must not unveil it until at just the right moment. Our ruse with building a Galaxy's Edge Immersive Hotel -- all a ruse, and we must not let the public know. If they had any idea what we were planning with what is sure to be a hit (The Fozzie Bear movie, have you seen those "interesting" reviews from the NY Times?) then we must act secretly yet deliberately. So here it is, written up and ready for the eventual release. This is going to be the next big thing and we need to get this preshow going as quickly as possible. Then we can get to the ride itself.

Sincerely,
Top Secret Disney World Employee

I remember you being a big fan of Rocky and Bullwinkle from all the way back in the VF days, so this is a great full circle project for you coming into the season that really shows your potential. Dare I say, there's some Toon Town Tower vibes here with the AAs coming and going out of the elevator shaft? The writing of the characters is very on point and the humor is right in line with the vibe and sensibilities of the show. I especially love the obviously fake Bullwinkle AA that starts things off. Overall a very well done passion project that shines a light on your strengths as a player.

Knott's was a great touch, but honestly you could have gone a lot further with this concept. I'll start with the positives. I LOVE the layout and how you have everything mapped out to take advantages of the few back corners of free space Knott's has left. That really shows that you know the park and aren't just throwing the attraction into any old plot of land. I feel like the elevator is neat...but doesn't really go beyond that. There's no "wow" factor here. To tell you the truth, I think there's more of a wow factor in the simulated mineshaft in the Depths Scary Farm maze. It's a nice, modest addition, but doesn't have the memorable quality of some of your competition. Also the text was fairly small and hard to read against the backgrounds.

I gotta admit, I think you're getting a little overly comfortable with the slide presentation format. Don't get me wrong, it works well and people use it for a reason, but having used it for three of the last four Weekly Challenges kind of wares out its novelty. Honestly this could have been just a well done forum post. I'll admit this project is similar to Puff's .What's here is fine, but it's nothing that wows me. We've already seen far more ambitious transitions to and from a space environment within Rise of the Resistance, and honestly Wall*E as an IP is kind of an old sea dog of Imagineering IPs. I've been around the block with it so many times it's hard to see something new brought to it. You did your best, but I don't think this was your strongest work.

Oh boy, way to turn the niche IP thing on its head against me, haha. I have zero clue what's going on in this darn project, but at the same time I kind of love it. You have just enough detail to flesh out the characters and the setting that I feel like I'd be one of those non-Potter people who get swept up in the Wizarding World lands without ever having read the books or watched the movies. Some explanation into All Might would be very helpful, but as it stood he seems like an incredibly energetic yet shady Hondo Ohnaka type character who could very much carry a preshow like this. There's no real wow effects at play here, but it's a nice character driven transitioning point that does a good job of getting you into the meat of the attraction.

Holy amazing queue, Batman! The prose you put into this is absolutely top notch. Describing the vastness of the caves and the tech at play really worked in tandem with each other to create a truly memorable write up paired with some excellent visuals. The concept of the Imax screen moving up and down with your elevator is absolutely novel. Mix that sound and lighting effects and you'd have something that could be truly called next generation Imagineering. This is absolutely the ratio I was wanting for focus on the main attraction. It gives us just enough of a tease of what's to come while genuinely leaving us wondering if the ride will even be able to top the preshow.

Alright my friend...in my entirely subjective opinion I think this round was where your outside the box ideas kind of got the better of you. Not only was I left genuinely confused as to what was part of the project until I found the homepage, but out of all the projects presented this round yours went the furthest outside of the lines in terms of being an attraction in its own right. What we have here from what I can tell is a sort of mini, slow moving Tower of Terror with multiple show scenes and set pieces. Don't get me wrong, there's some really fun gags and the continuing saga of the Fozzie Bear movie is hilarious as always, I just think this was the point where I wish you would have focused a little bit more on the prompt at hand and had the elevator serve more of a tie to something greater.

In spite of the lack of detail or presentation flourishes, I really did end up loving this one. Much like Outbound it sort of goes outside of the lines by becoming an attraction in its own right, but a World of Motion connected side pavilion like this is too good of an idea to write off on a technicality. I love how you write about old EPCOT with such reverence. The view from the top really would be amazing and I'm honestly surprised Epcot doesn't have more elevated vantage points. Overall just a nice fun, simple addition to the alternate history of the park that definitely shows off your areas of passion.

I don’t mean to correct you in anyway @TheOriginalTiki but I don’t believe I’ve used the “slide” format before. You could be referring to google docs where you scroll down to view the project in which case I have no idea what I’m talking about but as far as I know, this was my first time with Google Slides. Just wanting to help clear up my confusion lol

Still awaiting word from @mickeyfan5534 on what time he wants to do the podcast. It might have to get bumped back to tomorrow night. In the meantime, any night owls out there better be on the lookout, because I'll be posting the prompt for the first project TONIGHT at midnight Eastern time/9PM Pacific time! :eek: :eek:
Will the first round be jumping right into the game? I’m not sure how the team aspect works exactly and I’d love to learn more about how the teams will work together.

I'm writing this from my phone because my internet magically decided to go out. Apologies for the lack of detail. I just want to get the prompt out there.

For this project, teams are tasked with taking a second look at the plot of land set aside for Fantastic Beasts in Universal's Epic Universe. Fact of the matter is, Fantastic Beasts just isn't the tentpole IP we all thought it would be. For this challenge you must come up with another IP to fit into the Fantastic Beasts plot, one that would fit in with the other IPs of the park such as Nintendo, Monsters, and How to Train Your Dragon.

For this project you will be split into two teams, Team Old School and Team Next Gen. Teams are split up based on level of experience they have with the game and the Imagineering forum in general. These will then be split into three teams of six for the rounds going forward.

Team Old School
@JokersWild
@Brer Panther
@orlando678-
@Basketbuddy101
@tcool123
@gam3rprincess
@Pi on my Cake
@AceAstro

Team New School

@PerGronStudio
@ThatGuyFromFlorida
@Disneylover152
@Pufflefan
@Outbound
@DashHaber
@Sharon&Susan
@goofyyukyukyuk17
@montydysquith-navarro

Good luck teams. This project is due Sunday, May 31st at 11:59PM Eastern/8:59PM Pacific. There are no eliminations this round UNLESS a player doesn't physically show up and check in with us. If you're busy that's fine, but please at least check in with your team so we know you're accounted for. I'll get the brainstorming threads posted ASAP but be patient since I'm on my phone haha.

Belated reviews incoming!

@NigelChanning09 - WALL-E Preshow Elevator

I’ve loved seeing your growth these past few weeks and, with 100% honesty, I think you came into this really unprepared for the competition and you’ve established some awesome building blocks that are only setting you up for success in the competition. I genuinely can’t wait to see what you do here and how you grow further with your team.

Creativity: 7/10 - I feel like I would have scored this higher but your concept feels very much like ThatGuyFromFlorida’s from round 1 which is a bummer to be honest. I really like the idea of a WALL-E-ticket (see what I did there?) but when we saw it earlier it kind of feels like it’s aping on someone else’s idea when I know that wasn’t your intention.
Realism: 7/10 - I was kind of puzzled about how to score this part for you. I think the biggest failing here, what really brought this down, was one thing. Celebrity choice. I like the idea of a celebrity being the one to introduce this ride’s universe. It feels like a very good choice for Wall-E. But celebrity is REALLY hard to get right. It can date a ride in an instant or it can feel shoved in and unfitting and I think that happened here for you. Jimmy Fallon is great but when he has a ride right down I-4 and is well known for being in a product that is not Disney, that’s a real issue, especially when you think about how important that kind of integration is for Disney.
Detail: 9/10 - Your saving grace: you focused almost entirely on the elevator which is exactly what we wanted.
Presentation: 7/10 - I appreciate the slides and your experimentation with different presentation styles, but I think in this case, you would have done better with a nicely formatted forum post. It needs saying: presentation is not an exact science. Certain things don’t need to be gone all out for and I honestly might have scored this higher if it were a different style.
Total: 30/40

@JokersWild - Rocky and Bullwinkle

I had such a stupid smile my entire time reading this. It really gets Rocky and Bullwinkle as an IP and for that, it elevated the concept.

Creativity: 9/10 - An oddball IP choice but one that works and on top of that, the pre-show concept fits it like a glove.
Realism: 8/10 - I see it. I know what you’re going for, if some random Rocky and Bullwinkle renaissance happened I see it happening but the likelihood of that is low which is what brings this down.
Detail: 9/10 - The entire thing was about the elevator, exactly what we wanted and while I could have used a bit more about the effects, this was overall a great piece and a perfect pre-show.
Presentation: 8/10 - A well-formatted forum post is a well-formatted forum post. I could have maybe used an extra reference image
Total: 34/40

@Pi on my Cake - The Elevator of Elevators: A History of Elevators!

Another goofy smile of a project. I really like this. But I needed more and to your own admission it was unfinished.

Creativity: 10/10 - World of Motion is such an underrated part of classic Epcot and there’s such a sense of humor to it in that as opposed to things like Horizons, The Living Seas, and Spaceship Earth, it doesn’t take itself super seriously like the rest of Epcot Center did. This is such a great extension of that concept and one I wouldn’t think of in addition to the alternate universe concept.
Realism: 9/10 - Purely for the alternate universe concept, I think this adds a lot to the realism score. The effects all seem reasonable to the timeframe as well.
Detail: 5/10 - Again, to your own admission it was unfinished.
Presentation: 7/10 - This could have been far worse presentation-wise so the formatting was definitely appreciated.
Total: 31/40

@Pufflefan - California Ocean Expedition

Creativity: 8/10 - I like this concept. I think it’s very basic but it embraces the basicness of the concept
Realism: 6/10 - Despite liking the concept, I like it for Knott’s. I think Knott’s does a very specific thing and that’s that everything is fun and lively but I don’t see them embracing that idea for this. If you had gone for an alternate universe idea of a Living Seas re-do for Epcot or something at DCA or Sea World this would have worked far better for me.
Detail: 7/10 - I wish you came in this with a different approach. There was a lot of buildup for not much payoff. The elevator was interesting and the layout was welcome but… I’m missing a lot here for as much good as it is.
Presentation: 6/10 - I’m sorry, I keep feeling like I tear you apart in these reviews and that genuinely is not what I want to do. Formatting seems to be your fatal flaw and there are a lot of some really bad formatting mistakes here. Page breaks where there shouldn’t be page breaks, difficult to read font and color choice, some grammar errors. It’s really hard to ignore when it keeps happening.
Total: 27/40

@DashHaber - My Hero Academia

For my sins, I am unfamiliar with this IP. It’s on my list. I think you get across the premise of this IP and what’s going on with it so well though. That’s a hard thing to do.

Creativity: 9/10 - An oddball IP is always going to rank higher creatively than an obvious one and My Hero Academia is certainly an oddball choice. One that I actually really like and you really sell the world for the outsider and get all the characters' personalities in a very short amount of time.
Realism: 8/10 - I think it’s just so niche that I don’t see it happening outside of Japan but it works so well.
Detail: 9/10 - Everything I wanted out of this project was here. The fact that the elevator worked into the story so well was just gravy.
Presentation: 8/10 - A well-formatted forum post is a well-formatted forum post and it was exactly what this project needed. Simplicity is not a sin.
Total: 34/40

@Basketbuddy101 - Batman

It’s always bummed me out that Six Flags has its stranglehold on the DC IPs. Characters like Superman and Batman and Wonder Woman could make for some spectacular E-ticket rides and instead they just have roller coasters. There’s nothing wrong with a roller coaster but there could be so much more with them and this is along the lines of what I think of when the idea of “Batman Ride” occurs.

Creativity: 8/10 - Batman is an obvious choice for an E-ticket and the setup is brilliant. I don’t think I know a single person who doesn’t love the DCAU (still the best Batman on screen, prove me wrong) so this works so well in terms of mass appeal.
Realism: 9/10 - It’s an older IP but one with such mass appeal and with so much nostalgia I can see it going in somewhere on that strength alone.
Detail: 10/10 - Everything’s here right down to the elevator setup. The focus was on the elevator, the effects, and the buildup to the ride. Awesome job.
Presentation: 8/10 - Like I keep saying, a well-formatted forum post is nothing to turn your nose up at. A simple, straight-forward presentation was all that this project needed and you got it right there.
Total: 35/40

@Outbound - The Great Muppet-Vator

The Fozzie Bear Trilogy completes and wow does it finish with a bang. I don’t have much else to say so onto the scores!

Creativity: 8/10 - You took the general Great Muppet Movie Ride concept, crumpled it up, said “RIP but I’m different” and shoved it in the trash and went with a totally different concept. The elevator works so well and it’s all so well built up.
Realism: 7/10 - I love it. It ain’t gonna happen, but if Disney cared about the Muppets I could see it happening.
Detail: 10/10 - Perfect amount of detail both for the project itself and the presentation website. So, so good.
Presentation: 10/10 - Were it possible I’d give you over 10 points. The buildup with the websites has been something I looked forward to all week with each successive project and you ended on such a high note. I can’t wait to see where it all goes from here in the competition proper.

I'm very glad you chose to use a rather underutilized and rather nostalgic IP when it came to this prompt! I also appreciate you writing out the entire script when it came to the project! The humor was spot on when it came to script, and everything seemed to fit perfectly. Similarly to @mickeyfan5534 , I have some concerns about the relevancy of the attraction, but then again Disneyland's California Adventure somehow managed to utilize Cars in a very creative way! I feel like it would feel right at home at any cartoon themed land in general. While some areas description wise could need a little bit more polish, this is a very solid preshow with a very solid script!

A very creative choice for a preshow based on an elevator! It reminds me of the Hydrolators at The Living Seas in terms of concept and I don't mind a California themed ocean tour, and I especially appreciate that you chose to do Knott's Berry Farms as it's not very frequently used when it comes to parks. However, my problems lie with whether or not I feel this would be very entertaining to ride and the amount of detail presented, as there's not much detail really given besides the basics, and I don't know if the idea has enough to it to be much outside of it and I feel like the ride concept itself is half baked. However, your pictures are almost always the best of your creations! Cheers!

A very charming choice with some excellent concepts for a preshow that add onto the preexisting universe while not breaking the lore! I enjoyed your understanding of the movie, and the casting decisions you made when creating this attraction, and the humor creates a charming contrast to the supposed atmosphere where earth is currently supposed to be dying yet in a very charming way. I also appreciate the usage of a script within your work, since they're always very nice to read, and I can tell you put a lot of thought into the details! Good job! Okay, I'll admit that I used to be a fan of this show. I thought it's wonderful that you've decided to use it as an IP, although I can't really see it being anywhere besides Universal Studios Japan or maybe Nijigen No Mori. That being said, I like the way the preshow immerses you into the experience and into the world the manga/anime has created, and I will say that the character's interpretations are fairly accurate and very well written. I can definitely imagine this ride being a major hit, and the concept itself seems like it would easily make for a hit e-ticket considering how much it was a hit and how amazing it is, however I do see how it can feel a little over the top.

Probably my favorite one so far! It's a neat take on an IP that hasn't really be utilized in a meaningful way by it's owners and giving it the proper love and attention it deserves as an attraction. There's an amazing amount of detail you put into describing it which makes it feel like it would be absolutely amazing to see in person, nevermind the amount of focus you put into properly describing the mechanics of the ride. You put full effort into describing almost everything there is to it without going overboard on details which is great! Plus there's the whole fact that you created an entire video to properly replicate it! Awesome job!

This was certainly a very creative way of hosting a project, with the podcast and the website, which is a very nice touch, although there were difficulties trying to access it. I think the usage of elevators as a type of dark ride mechanic is a very unique idea, although I do feel like more could have been done more with the concept, like maybe a grande finale/punchline to it all, y'know? That being said, I did find the project quite humorous and I did enjoy how it did tie in to the rest of the website. The detail you gave to this project was excellent in which you described the scenes, and I can easily see this being a new expansion to Hollywood Studios if Disney saw the Muppets franchise as something profitable again because people do care about it.

@Pi on my Cake 's The Elevator Of Elevators: A History Of Elevators
This is a fairly interesting take on the topic, with an original concept and with a edutainment format similar to the types you would find at EPCOT Center or Tomorrowland. It's also a very neat way to teach people about the history of elevators in a way that acknowledges the topic. I could see this having been implemented into the Motion Pavillion very easily, given how connected it is in tone. Plus, the idea of seeing all of future world from up above sounds really nice. I know it's supposed to be simple and sweet in nature, but I wish this was expanded on more in general because it sounds like such a neat idea and it sounds so cool to see it fleshed out. I also feel like you could have used images in your presentation which would have helped as well.

@ThatGuyFromFlorida 's Alice In Wonderland: Down The Rabbit Hole
Alice In Wonderland is a wonderful idea for a dark ride in Fantasyland, and this could easily become a proper counterpart to the dark ride all the way in Anaheim, and it would definitely be an upgrade compared to the Tomorrowland Speedway. The tone you use in this attraction definitely makes it seem like it could fit into the parks perfectly. However, I feel like you could have definitely fleshed this project out more as there aren't many detailed descriptions, since most of your lines are mostly just sentences. However, from what's there, the practical effects in the ride and the ride mechanics sync very well together that could easily make for an amazing ride.

Hey boys and girls, I don't mean to get sentimental, nor do I intend to do this for every project, but I really, really appreciate the kind words my elevator pitch (HA!) received. I genuinely think that this project broke me out of my writer's block - I literally wrote the first draft in one sitting which is something I haven't been able to do since I was in high school. It's also the first script I've written for an attraction where the dialogue is entirely original; nothing was lifted and I'm more proud of that than I probably should be. I genuinely think that this is my favorite project that I've ever completed and I'll be damned if I don't finish it one day. Hopefully soon - I'd love to have a project that I can just passively work on in between comp projects.

Anyway, I'll stop making this about me - I'm just very glad that other's thought that this came out as well as I thought it did.

Hopefully this is a good omen for the rest of the comp, haha. Back I go to my team thread....
