Well that's rather expansive! The construction timeframe seems realistic and smart; I love it.

Thinking that CityWalk could relocate and be a pathway between the two main parks. Tokyo's Ikspiari (a strangely-named Downtown Disney) sort of does that, but imperfectly. The distances are too far. If we rotate the parks so their entrances are nearer, it might work - provided that doesn't intrude on things like Isla Nublar or the service road to Hogwarts.

To be super dorky for a second, where's the sun? We don't want guests getting blinded when approaching park entrances or anything. In Australia, southern hemisphere, we could flip the Disneyland/MK model and have entrances to the north and icons to the south.

(Tokyo Disneyland does it the wrong way and all morning long castle photos are impossible because the sun stays behind it. DisneySEA's angle is askew enough, its layout different enough, that it corrects this issue.)
I'll try some different layouts and see which one we like best! Doesn't take too long since I've shut off details for the night in favor of more big picture canvases.

In terms of the sun...

I agree being in the southern hemisphere...we have the entrance to the north...all icons to the south...I'll see what I can cook up!

- Forgot to add in the cardinal directions...but diagonally pointing to the top left is south, diagonally to the bottom right...is north.
- Tried to combine UOR and TDR layouts...with the main Parking towards the entrance...and a moving walkway to CityWalk. (The Parking Lot/Garage could also be a 3rd Gate down the line if we wanted to buy up more land.
- Where TDR comes in is the rapid transit...however, rather than a continuous loop...it goes from one end to the other. Similar to the MBTA if anyone has been to Boston...you take the Green line till the end of the line, then take another line to go back. Same here, with Isla Nublar and Suess Landing as the two end point stations, the Mediterannean Resorts, City Walk/two parks/parking lot (Universal Central Station?), Minion Family Resort, being the other stops.
- Backstage is behind the parks and connects the service road to Hogwarts (which I'm assuming to keep the theme of Hogwarts as a boutique resort...guests will board vehicles designed to tint out the exterior backstage areas to keep theme with HP
- Similarly with Nintendo (which I think I might flip with the Cartoon Corner anyway) this can be access by part to park transit, if we wanted to, relatively easily, just going through the backstage areas like the Hogwarts Express.

Let me know what you think!

This seems like a simpler, more compact resort layout. Would be curious to hear other people's opinions in the morning. I like the out-and-back rapid transport, which come to think of it saves on space and track expenses. DisneySEA (OMG, he's bringing it up again!!o_O) has its elevated Electric Railway transportation ride in the park which works like that, and it's surprisingly efficient and fun.

Leave Nintendo where it is. We can still connect from there to Pokémon if need be. Some Pokémon transport possibilities - the Magnet Train (bullet train) or the slower S.S. Aqua cruise ferry.

Sounds good! Will see what people think tomorrow (going to pack it in for tonight) and look at this layout and other possibilities with fresh eyes tomorrow!

Forgot to mention how much I love this sketch. If that ever becomes a reality this could make the character greetings inside the Toothsome Chocolate Emporium much more interesting since there aren't that many Illumination characters that meets guests besides the Despicable Me characters. Plus they even have a talking robot.

Thanks! I looked into that the other night and it's a pretty cool location (but definitely has room to be improved!)

Good morning everyone!

Based on our discussions last night - I have a question to propose today before we continue on with the resort construction. We're trying to decide how to arrange everything within the resort complex. The resort is currently going in Australia (in a patch of land approximately the size of Universal Orlando Resort)

We have 3 drafts of maps for our parks, the original Universal opening day park (temporarily named UniMK)
updated%2Bmap.jpg

The resort's second park (temporarily named UniSEA)
download

And the resort's water park - named Suess Landing.
8750283279840939884%253Faccount_id%253D9

----------------------------------

The question is - how to arrange it. Taking influence from both the Tokyo Disney Resort and the Universal Orlando Resort, we have two options for layouts as of now, with the additional areas such as resort hotels, CityWalk, and a rapid transit system (the black line in the designs) included in the layouts

The Question is -- which design would you prefer and why? Design A? Design B? Or Neither (your own suggestion)

Any and all responses would be appreciated! Thanks!

I agree with @D Hindley I think option A with the point to point works best. It definitely does save on track cost plus you don't have to worry about theming where the backstage/cast area is for riders. I think it's also better for in park resort guests and their park access. I think you want park access at a premium for those folks and option A achieves that. In most cases it looks like the ride is the same or shorter to different aspects of the complex. While I think a long leisurely ride on B would be nice, A seems the way to go, to me.
