With the amount of homework I was assigned for this weekend...well...the only thing I can really say about it at this point is that it's ridiculous. On Monday the 19th I have an exam, two essays due, math homework, and a two page speech to be memorized and presented, and, like I said, it sucks. For those of you who know me, this is my first time enrolling in real classes in almost six years, as I have been focused on performing and working part-time since I graduated high school in 2011. At this point in time I am personally reconsidering my efforts at attaining a degree and whether or not I will even need it for the career I am ensuing (running my theatrical business and pursuing a career in voiceover work). I am unhappy and overwhelmed, more so than I ever have been in my life. I left academics for studying music and acting, I left studying music and acting to work at Disneyland, and I left Disneyland to grow my business and return to school. So far, returning to school has been futile. I guess you could say that I'm at a difficult crossroads in my life. To study, or not to study...that is the question...the annoying question, mind you.

Despite the strong possibility that I will not be returning to college next semester, I owe it to myself to finish at least this one semester, and with this in mind, I don't see myself being able to complete any sort of Semi-Finals project considered worthy of a spot in the finals. I just simply don't have the time. I don't have the time for this, or my personal projects. What little free time I have is going to be spent on myself just taking a moment to breathe or relax...or work. Even if I made it into the finals, I wouldn't have the time to do the project, as much as I love The Twilight Zone and as much as I would love to participate for a chance to win. But when I reflect on this dilemma, I realize that I've had my chance at winning. I've won this game before. I've hosted this game. I've played this game. I've crossed the bridge from Visions Fantastic to WDWMagic. My journey with SYWTBAI has come full circle.

This isn't me dropping out. This is me accepting my fate and owning up to the fact that I do not deserve this spot in the semis. I'm planting my feet firmly into the internet-ground, clenching my fists and waiting for my elimination. It's been a lot of fun, folks. Thanks for welcoming me into this season.

Congratulations to the semi-finalists! I look forward to seeing which of the two of you move on to the Finals. It was truly a good time being able to play alongside y'all this season.

In other news, I have made the necessary adjustments in my life to better myself and do what I truly love to do - perform. Thank you all for being so supportive and understanding with my couple of rants here and there about why I hate school.

RMichael21 Presents a So You Want to Be An Imagineer Semi-Finals Project:
Albuquerque, NM
A Breaking Bad Themed Area
Breaking_Bad_title_card.png

Welcome to Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Introducing an all new themed experience at Universal Orlando Resort’s first and flagship theme park Universal Studios Florida. Inspired by the mega-hit of the small screen, Breaking Bad, guests will be transported into a small suburb of Albuquerque and the blaring emptiness of the scorching New Mexico desert.

Coming in 2019 (along with the Nintendo Universe in 2020 and Universal’s third theme park in 2021) as a part of the resort’s biggest expansion yet, guests can experience an all new thrilling E-Ticket attraction, an interactive C-Ticket walkthrough that is not to be missed, as well as dining and shopping experiences.

Purpose:
As one of the most successful television programs of all time, Breaking Bad is a clear choice of IP for a Universal theme park. However, Universal Studios Florida is known for creating immersive environments of cities, towns and various settings and then adding proper IPs (sometimes one, sometimes multiple). For example, New York hosts The Mummy and Springfield U.S.A. hosts The Simpsons. And while London hosts just Harry Potter and is marketed as The Wizarding World of Harry Potter: Diagon Alley, the themed Harry Potter elements are hidden away to not intrude of the various cities and their designs at Universal Studios Florida.

Therefore, rather than creating “Breaking Bad: The Land” and plopping every single Breaking Bad environment into one hodge-podge land, Universal Creative has decided to pick a theme that would blend well with the rest of the park: suburban Albuquerque.

The main stretch of the land will be Alburquerque, complete with Walter White’s home, the police department and other less notable places seen in the series. The town seems almost too good to be true at first glance, similar to Walter White’s life in the beginning of the series. But, upon further inspection, we see the chaos within the town that Walter White’s actions have caused, as his face and story in the headlines been plastered upon every bulletin board and newspaper in every coffee shop and store.

It is only in the heat of the action in the midst of the land’s E-Ticket attraction that we dare venture out into the scorching desert, clearly conveying that the desert is a place that only those crazy enough to be there will venture into the blazing New Mexico sun. This can be seen as a parallel to Walter White’s life, as he lives a happy life in suburban Alburquerque, but as soon as he spirals out of control with his crystal meth business and his terminal lung cancer, he spends his time out in the desert more and more away from his family, his previous life and his sanity.

So, with this outlook on the series, guests will be looking at Walter White and his actions from the outside from the perspective of average suburban people. Universal Creative is taking a risk with this outlook, but believes it will pay off by giving fans of the show a stellar experience rich with details and easter eggs but also giving average theme park guests to enjoy the experiences without knowing a single piece of information about the show.

Location:
Albuquerque will be located on the large expansion plot in between Men in Black: Alien Attack, Springfield U.S.A and the Nintendo Universe (opening 2020).
Screen Shot 2016-09-18 at 9.52.24 AM.png

Land Theming:
Alburquerque will be themed just like the suburban town we see in the show. While the land is themed as the perfect, white picket fence town, upon further inspection in the restaurants, shops, newspaper kiosks and police station, we see how the crazed Walter White and his actions have affected the town and its reputation.
o-179519966-570.jpg

Due to the relatively low height of the Albuquerque homes and facades (with the exception of the police station), tall trees behind these buildings will hide various things such as the Nintendo and Men in Black attraction show buildings.

Attractions:
Alburquerque will feature two attractions, one E-Ticket thrill ride and the other a C-Ticket interactive walk-through.

Breaking Bad: Desert Racer
Welcome to the headliner E-Ticket thrill ride of the all new Breaking Bad themed land, Alburquerque.

Statistics:
Attraction Category: E-Ticket
Ride Length: 5 Minutes
Universal Express: Yes
Capacity: High
Thrill Type: Roller Coaster and Dark Ride Hybrid

Facade/Queue Section 1:
Guests will begin their E-Ticket experience at Walter White’s home. The walkthrough-type first section of the queue gives Breaking Bad fans the ultimate dream of walking through Walter White’s house. Guests will walk through the foyer, living room and kitchen, before proceeding down a set of steps into the basement. This is where the first pre-show will take place.
NOTE: There are actually three basements each with a door out of view of the rest of the first section of the queue. As one loads people, one is in the middle of the pre-show and the other is unloading). Due to there being three rooms and only a short pre-show, this section of the queue will take tons of people very fast, leaving a relatively short line within the house. The high-capacity aspect of the attraction as well will allow for a short line as well.
NOTE: For handicapped guests or those in need of an elevator, a tucked away “dumbwaiter” will transport guests down to the basement.

Pre-show 1:
As guests enter the basement, in a similar fashion to the pre-show of Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts where a portion of the room is blocked off and is a screen, they see Walter White packing his things, played (of course) by the one and only Bryan Cranston.

“Oh!” he says in a surprised fashion, “I wasn’t expecting you until later.” He ceases packing his things to talk to the guests. “I really do appreciate you helping me move my stuff out to the desert. It’s dangerous, the police can’t find out about this, I’m deep in some things that I’m not going to disclose at the moment, I need to gain trust from you guys before I can tell you what’s up. And this is the start of that. Bt let’s just say they’re not… um… legal, OK?”

“But, that contract you signed makes me feel reassured you’re in this for the long haul. So, come on, let’s get out to the desert and start making some money”

Then, guests exit the basement through the bulkhead and into the starry sky.

Queue Section 2:
Still inside the show building (the pre-show rooms are under a berm ala Disneyland Haunted Mansion with trees that hides it), guests are now in the driveway (not the actual facade driveway). A set of switchbacks moves around the driveway and lawn. An animatronic Walter White can be seen packing his stuff into his car in the driveway. Then, the queue moves into the “road” (once again, not actually the public walking space outside of the queue) and moves down the short road in switchbacks and around a corner to the loading area.

It was important for Universal Creative to create a contained feel for the queue, to recreate the panicked feeling Walter White feels as he is first diagnosed with lung cancer and enters the crystal meth business.

Loading Area/Vehicles:
The loading area is still themed to the road in the show building at night.

The vehicles for the attraction are very similar to the vehicles for Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts, but are themed to a normal car that you’d find in the muggle world, versus a magical bank cart. In addition, each vehicle that moves through the attraction is a singular unit, without an addition (identical) vehicle attached behind it.

For reference, here are the Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts vehicles:
escape-from-gringotts-vehicle.jpg

The Attraction Experience:
Scene 1 - About 20 seconds with a 10 second transition to the next scene:
When guests leave the road-themed loading area and turn a corner, they are on a different road in suburban Albuquerque. Walter White (in screen form) appears next to the guests on the left. He exclaims to hurry before the someone reports suspicious activity, and speeds off. However, the cars turn to see a man on the opposite side walk on his phone looking suspicious. Over the phone we hear “911, what is your emergency?” But, before the guests can hear the man’s answer, we speed off.

Scene 2 - About 30 seconds with a 15 second roller coaster transition to the next scene:
The guests are suddenly in the desert. They approach a strange (yet familiar) camper RV with a strange blue smoke coming through a vent in the roof.

4DaysOut.jpg
As the vehicles pull up beside it, Walter White appears at the door. “Hey, so I guess now would be a good time to tell you what exactly we’re out here for. See, my business partner Jesse,” from in the RV we hear his exclaim a greeting, “and I… Well, I cook and he sells cryst-”. However, before he can finish, the vehicles whip around to reveal blue, red and white lights and sirens blazing in the distance. Guests hear Walter exclaim “Cops!” and slam the RV door closed. “Hang on Jesse, we gotta go.” With that, the vehicles speed off once again with the sound of sirens in the distance.

Scene 3 - About 45 seconds with a 2 second transition to the next scene:
The next scene is a condensed 360 degree room, similar to the one found in Skull Island: Reign of Kong and Fast and Furious: Supercharged. Guests are racing through the desert with RV to the right and slightly ahead of them. The blazing sirens continue to grow in sound and light, and we can hear an officer over his speaker “Please pull over, we have received a suspicious call that has led us here. Please pull over.” Guests see the RV make a hard right away from the vehicle, despite the fact that guests continue to move “forward”. We hear Walter White yell “Make a diversion! Make a diversion!” Then, guests are suddenly launched (ala Revenge of the Mummy) out of the room.

img_0351.jpg

Scene 4 - About 20 seconds.
However, the launch is cut short, as the car’s “brakes” are activated just outside of the 360 room. The vehicle stops on a piece of track that has a unique effect. This piece has the ability to pivot up and down on a focal point, starting at a level plane and rotating 90 degrees so the car faces straight down, connecting to a vertical track piece. Around this vertical track piece is a dome shaped screen that creates an effect that the vehicle is about to tip over a cliff and into a river below. The track piece tilts up and down over the edges of the “cliff” before moving into a fully vertical position. The car is then released and goes beyond vertical (almost upside down) and into pitch darkness.

Scene 5 - About 1 minute and 30 seconds with a 10 second transition to the next scene.
The car then goes through a series of twists and turns (not upside down, however) in the darkness. The car then settles in the middle of a practical canyon set. As the vehicle enters a sense of momentary calmness, the police cars round a corner ahead of the guests. The vehicles turn left and right, almost as if they are looking for a place to go. Then, guests are launched backwards into a set of twists and turns in the dark desert.

Scene 6 - About 30 seconds with a 15 second transition into the unloading area.
As the vehicle hits the breaks, it turns around to see Walter White and Jesse standing outside of the RV. “Good job losing them. But, I’ve realized how dangerous this business is and I don’t want anyone else besides my closest partners getting mixed up in this. I really appreciate the help, but go back to your normal lives. I’ll appreciate what you did tonight until the day I die. See ya”. And with that, guests move into the loading area, a separate but identical room to the loading area, yet at dawn, just as the sun is rising.

Gift Shop
Guests enter into an Albuquerque store, full of both New Mexico and Breaking Bad merchandise.

Breaking Bad: Investigations Inspection
The supporting C-Ticket attraction in the all new Breaking Bad area will be Breaking Bad: Investigation Inspection, an exciting walk-through interactive experience at Albuquerque’s Police Department, where guests (with the aid of private detectives) try to piece together a story and timeline of the infamous Walter White.
E08-Better-Call-Saul.mkv_001152145.jpg

Guests will move through different rooms of the police station, including several “Investigative Crime Scene Recreations” to help solve the mystery of the WANTED Man Walter White and what exactly he’s been up too.

Universal Creative decided to include this attraction as a counter to the E-Ticket experience, in which the protagonist is Walter White and we’re on White’s side. However, in Breaking Bad: Investigations Inspection, guests will swap sides and try to cake the case of Walter White.

Dining:
Dining in Albuquerque, NM will consist of small quick service locations, such as a coffee shop, the Dog House and other small locations. All of these locations will have hints of social chaos, as WANTED posters of Walter White will adorn the walls.

Hey everyone! I'd like to thank you for reading my Breaking Bad submission! I really did try and research this IP as much as I could, and school did through a wrench in my plans to turn in something even better and more elaborate, but I'm proud with how this turned out considering I knew next to nothing about this IP prior to this project. Thanks for reading!

Breaking Bad Land at Universal Studios Hollywood
Breaking-Bad-breaking-bad-37307235-1600-900.jpg

In the past years, AMC had gained a genuine classic series with the Bryan Cransten led drama about 50 year old Walter White, who after being diagnosed with cancer teams up with his former student Jessie Pinkman to sell meth to leave enough money for his family when he is gone. The series is up there as one of the most interesting, beautifully shot, and critical acclaimed shows of all time. So with other series like the Walking Dead and Phineas and Ferb getting small, temporary attractions, this massive world built by this series and the spin-off Better Call Saul deserve a few theme park attractions. And since they picked up Walking Dead, it seems that Universal would be ecstatic to pick up the series for a theme park experience.

Now, why Universal Hollywood? The park is full of rides, some aging, others impossible to part with. So to give the park something to beat out the much more expansive and immerse resort in Orlando, giving Hollywood exclusive TV show experiences (this along with Walking Dead), could give folks a reason to make the long haul out to Cali. So that's the deal. Hollywood gets TV rides first, and Orlando gets movie rides first (think Harry Potter).

SYWTBAI Breaking Bad.jpg

As you see, the land will replace the T2 theater area (now used for Despicable Me). But the very popular Despicable Me attraction will get a new home either at Shrek 4D, or in a new location. The area will be a sort of triangular cul-de-sac that extends from the circular center found near the center of the park.

The theming and decorations themselves will be immersive and will transport you to the outskirts of Albuquerque, in a new fictional town called El Ciudad (humorously translated to 'The Town'). Here we have a couple of shacks, a Los Pollos Hermanos restuarant, Saul by the Valley (a second building opperated by Saul Goodman, and a desert-y area that leads into the infamous trailer used to cook meth.

1. Los Pollos Hermanos

th

Los Pollos Hermanos will be a chicken restaurant, heavily inspired by the one depicted in the show. Just think KFC, no more, no less.

2. Gilligan's

Gilligan's (named after series creator Vince Gilligan) will be a shop selling merchandise from the show, and general Universal merchandise. The store will be themed to something you would expect to see out in the desert. A mostly wood structure, rotted and dust-ridden. Of all the merchandise, I expect that these would be very popular with fans of the show.

th

3. The Blue Sky Cafe

The Blue Sky Cafe (named after the meth from the show) would be a more calm sit down area to buy some coffee, pastries, and special 'Blue Sky' rock candy.

4. Better Call Saul (50 Million)

better-call-saul.jpg

Better Call Saul would be a C-Ticket attraction based on the spin off series of the same name. WARNING: Since this show is still ongoing and uses many backflashes to explain backstories, this attraction may not fall in line with the most recent or future episodes in this universe, and a lot of this will not follow current canon, but I assure you the other attractions will.

Queue:

The queue would be the previously mentioned Saul by the Valley, the secret second office of Saul Goodman. An office so dangerous that not even Walter White ever knew about it. As you walk inside, we see that the inside is more formal than the dust layered outside. The wood floors and shelves are polishes, the wallpaper shiny. On the walls are some pictures of those who come to the office, Saul's most dangerous clients. On one shelf, we also see a little memorial to Walter White, with flowers, a nice picture, and a small plastic bag of meth.

As we go through the doors into Saul's office, we see a propped up monitor on his chair. A couple of scarily tough looking guards close the doors behind us. The monitor then springs to life, as Saul appears with a very strange background behind him (indicating he's at a hideout). Saul begins to speak "What is up clients. Now I know since the Heisenberg bust sh**s been hitting the fan, but I'm still your lawyer, weather or not half the DEA is looking for me. I may or may not be in Utah, but I might also be in a motel in Fiji, so don't call hoarding me with BS questions about if you're getting arrested. Now your goodol' neighborhood scam artist Uncle Saul here has quite the bounty on his head. Apparently drug boss Tuco Salamanca's death didn't strike a comedic chord with the in-laws. I'm hiding, so this is where I'm going to remind you of everything I've done for you. Go ahead, think (he pauses for a second). OK. Now stop thinking, you owe me a favor. Get here before the rest of the Salamanca clan or I might just have to release some files about all those bank accounts with our Southern neighbors. My friends behind you have some nice new jeeps out back, so don't bother them when they're driving. See you there."

The monitor shuts off and the men walk around and open the doors to the loading area. You then get into the 'jeeps', which have 3D screens where the windows would be. But the jeeps don't move, so this ride system combines that of Star Tours and Transformers. The jeeps hold 6 people, and there are about 8 of them. Where the radio would be there is also a screen that will be used for Saul to talk.

Ride experience (there are no 'scenes' per say)

The jeeps 'roll out' across the desert at breakneck speed. The lights and motions used would indicate this is kind of going into warp speed, since driving from New Mexico to Utah would make this a long ride. We arrive at this small shack in the middle of nowhere the distance, a squadron of jeeps. Saul comes running out with a coat and briefcase and jumps into a car behind us. He appears on the monitor "B*****ds are coming. Step on it!" The jeep speeds off straight towards the jeeps in the distance, ready to battle.

And that would basically be it. Just escaping the cartels. The reason I included 2 C-Tickets was so we could lean this one towards mostly thrill, and the other towards more of a story and dialogue. Which reminds me....

5. Breaking Bad: The Juarez Cartel (40 million)

th

The second C-Ticket attraction will be based on the original series, specifically The Cousins and the Juarez Cartel. The ride itself will be a more modern day of the Twister attraction, which is basically a walkthrough special effects show. There will be 2 rooms (3 including the queue) and each room has seating for about 50.

Queue

The queue exterior is themed to a huddled mass of small shacks, with the biggest one front and center as the entrance. They are makeshift, and like every building have sort of succumbed to nature. Once inside, the log cabin-esque rooms. At the center is a wooden table, with Audio Animatronics of Jesse and Walter at the table, looking defeated. The doors close, and Jesse looks up and speaks "Well, we're f***ed! B**ch! Damn it!" Walter speaks up "Don't get yourself worked up Jesse! It's us versus them, and this is not how we go down!" Walt turns to the group "Listen, you want to make some cash? Do you even want to make it out back home alive? We've p***ed off half the Juarez Cartel, and this place is surrounded. We need to get out of here with 30 pounds of meth, and leave almost no evidence. Hank's got half the DEA looking for us too. So we need to escape, without shooting any of that god d**n gang out there. I've got some stuff that blow's up. Won't kill them but they'll be down, But we need to be clever about it. So, let's go home!" "Alright Mr. White, let's do this! Yeah science!"

The doors to the next room open, and you proceed.

Scene 1:

The first room is outside at night. It's dusty, with old vehicles, and a whole lot of AA cartel members. For my GTA 5 fans, think of the first Trevor sniper mission

th

Walter and Jesse are at one side crouched behind a crate and the cartels are at the other side with guns. The viewing area for this scene is from the POV of Walt and Jessie. Walt talks "Listen, we need to distract them. There's only a few here, but a lot more probably in that warehouse behind them. Jesse, think you could fire some blanks at them, then I could throw a charge back there and bust the doors open."

"Then I guess I crawl under the trucks to the door? Sounds nice. Good job Mr. White!"

"Shhhhhh. Shut up kid. Now ready. On my mark....Now!"

You see the Jesse AA lift his arm up and shoot to the left. The guards turn and begin to fire, knocking down crates and breaking shingles. Walter then throws the charge at the door "Let's go! Leave the kid! He'll be fine!" The gate to proceed to the next room opens.

Scene 2

We are now in the warehouse, with even more guard surrounding Walt's car.

"B**ch! There's even more of them Mr. White. What do we do?"

"How many of them are there?"

"I dunno. 'Bout. 20."

"F**k. Listen. I think we might need to shoot some dead. You guys don't need to see this. Why don't you get out of here?"

The door opens to the end of the ride.

Of course this is much more complex than it sounds with the blanks and falling objects. Seeing it would put you more in the mood.

6. Breaking Bad: The Hunt for Walter White (100 million)

th

This will be the big E-Ticket. Breaking Bad: The Hunt for Walter White will be a jeep ride mixed with AAs and screens only compared to the best of studio tours and safaris. The ride will meld AAs with real drivers and vehicles. But how do they do this? Through the power of radio control, drivers are trained when to set off certain scenes with remotes, so the ride feels naturally flowing.

Queue:

The queue will be just plain desert. This is where the town ends. After wandering for a short bit, we come across the infamous trailer. We step inside, and see Walter's back turned to us as he is cooking meth. We go through the trailer and after a while to the jeeps. Here, we are given a little backstory by Walter and using something like Facetime on the screens in each seat. He seems really bitter about something.

"Hello, this is Heisneberg. I hear that you want to distribute. But we've got a bit of a problem. My old partners Mike and Jesse have sabotaged our rendezvous. How can that kid be stupid enough to listen to that mindless d***bag Mike. Anyways, I'm supposed to meet with the scum to negotiate, but want some backup just in case. You help me out, I'll give you a 5% discount on the meth. And if you say no, well we might have a real problem on our hands! Heisenberg out."

Our driver then begins speaking "Welcome distributors. My name is (enter name here), and I'll be driving you around to help Heisenberg. There might be some gunshots, so do everyone a favor and keep all your parts in one piece and in the truck. Now, let's get to the meeting point."

Scene 1:

The truck drives forward for a little bit then stops at 2 cars, and 2 AAs of Walter and Mike.

"Hey Mike! What the hell do you think you're doing?! You plant a bomb at my rendezvous point?! Mine!?"

"You don't understand, do you Walter? That's right, I'm using your real name in front of your little friends back there! The three of us were legends, Walter! We had everything, and you threw it all away for your own stupid pride!"

"We were working against our will for a maniac, Mike!"

"But we were going to be rich! Now you've sunk yourself and that kid Jesse to rock bottom, and I'm not gonna let you hurt him or yourself anymore!"

Walt tries to repress his anger for a second, but fails.

"Hurt him? Hurt him? You son of a..."

Walt lifts his arm to reveal a gun. Mike does the same.

"Go ahead Walt, shoot me! I dare you!" They stare for a while.

Walt lowers his gun. "Not today Mike. These dealers are getting their meth, and I'm making millions! All by myself!." Walt turns "Now, let's get to the extraction point. There's a truckful of meth waiting for you."

The jeep takes off again.

Scene 2:

The jeep arrives at the point, where Walter and Mike are waiting for you. The driver tells you that that truck is the one you will have to drive into town to hide and sell. As we pull up, we also see a truck behind Walter, with a man behind him holding him at gunpoint.

"It's alright. It's alright. Just listen to what they want"

The man speaks: "I want the meth. And the 5 million dollars. All of it. Or he gets it."

"Don't listen to him. just take the meth and go."

Mike speaks up

"Listen to Walt on this one. Just go."

Your driver perks his head up and talks to Walt "Hey boss, don't you always keep that really important thing in your pocket?"

Walter smirks "Oh yeah. In fact, it's in my hand right now. 3... 2... 1... GO!"

Walt's hand opens and drops the grenade-like device, creating an explosion as your truck speeds away.

Scene 3

We come across Walter and Mike again.

"Listen Mike, I say we act like gentlemen and just stay away from each other unless we need to cross paths again. Now, do we have a deal?"

"Yes. But remember, your days are numbered Walter White. You've made far too many enemies. But until you wake up, we are not partners, we are not friends, we are sworn enemies Walter White."

"You're god d**n right."

I hope you all enjoyed. I did some research, but the wide story scope and few loose ends left made it hard to narrow down enough story for a whole land. Good luck to the other semi-finalists!

I'm really sorry. This is far from my best work and I really wish I could put in far better effort than what I did and I wish my fellow competitors the best of luck in the finals as it is very clear that I will not be proceeding.

I have a bad cold tonight and don't really have the stamina to do reviews, but suffice to say I'd like to congratulate @DSquared and @RMichael21 for being the judges selections moving into the final project! You guys have gone as far as you can go in this game and it's time to put your skills to the test in one last project to prove to the jury your creative chops.

@mickeyfan5534 it's been an absolute pleasure watching you grow and evolve as a player over the season and since your days as an early elimination in later VF-era SYWTBAI seasons. I'm very sorry that your schedule got overwhelmed and am incredibly thankful that you did turn something in. That goes a long way in spite of your competitors having clearly superior projects. We'll be doing a podcast reviewing all the Breaking Bad projects including Space's in the near future.

With all that in mind let's get to the final prompt of the season...

Final Project: A Dimension of Mind

twilight_zone.jpg

There's been a big amount of backlash about the removal of the Twilight Zone out of DCA's Tower of Terror. Because of this, let's hypothetically say Imagineers have made sure to double down and purchase the Twilight Zone IP outright from Paramount allowing them to keep the Florida one with the same theme as well as expanding into new dimensions.

For this project, your goal is to take Sunset Boulevard at Disney Hollywood Studios and retheme it completely to The Twilight Zone. Here are the basic requirements...

1. Perform a large-scale overlay of the Tower of Terror that will add new life into the attraction, and add in some additional theme that comes straight out of the show.

2. Areosmith has decided not to renew their contract for Rock N' Roller Coaster, so with that in mind retheme the coaster around The Twilight Zone using the same track layout.

3. Yep...you guessed it, design a C Ticket attraction themed to The Twilight Zone to tie together the attraction roster.

4. Create a large scale dining experience themed to The Twilight Zone.

Those are the four main things to concentrate on. The jury will then vote for who played the better overall game this season using this final project as an example of your overall body of work as well as answering any potential questions the jury might have about your gameplay throughout the season.

Good luck finalists. This project is due Friday, September 30th at 11:59 PM Eastern!

Hey thanks for reviewing mine, I wasn't expecting that haha. I'd actually like to see BlueDragonFive do more reviews for these. For someone brand new to all of this, he picks up the details very well and is always a strong speaker.

Also just a question about the final project, is the jury voting for who had the better final project, or based on the overall game? I'm only asking because those could lead to two different outcomes :p

I hope it's both, to be honest.

In my experience as a host (and since I'm on the jury as well) of SYWTBAI, I first look at the quality of the contestant's project, then, if I'm having a really difficult time deciding which project is better, I look into the contestant's gameplay. If a finalist laid low the entire season only to make it to the very end and turnout a fantastic project, I'm not going to vote for them. If a finalist was a constantly working force the entire season, earned their spot in the finals, and turned in a not-as-good project, they will have my vote. I hope that makes sense.

I'm guessing for this season, Tiki wants us to look at both the project and the gameplay aspect. It's only fair. This season was very strategy-oriented, so there ya have it.

That's exactly how I am voting. I'm going to look at both. The only way the project would be the sole contribution to the vote would be if the other person just doesn't submit.

After that, I know who contributed more throughout the season, so if the projects are close then that will definitely factor into the decision. Thanks for confirming.
